Thanks! actually i didn't "miss" them, I only made the "2D Era" (hence the title) because they share the same beat and start with that same "dun dun dun dun dun dun dun" so they go pretty well together. After that, Uematsu stopped doing that intro for 7 and 8 (he put it back for 9), so they wouldn't fit as nicely. I might cover them in the future (I already did cover 9, by itself though). Glad you liked it :)

I once named the characters in FF3 after the Beatles members. For some reason it just felt perfect that my fighter was called John, my monk was Paul, and my white and black mage were George and Ringo. There is something about those names that just makes them fit so incredibly well with those specific Jobs.
You nailed it dude, I was definitely nodding along without even thinking by the time the FF2 battle kicked in. Given that most of the songs start with that iconic riff, you really capitalized on that to make the transition from battle theme to battle theme feel really organic and flow together nicely. You've got some great talent, keep it up!

check the Golden Sun normal battle, the Valkyrie Profile battle theme, umm lets see what else, Legend of Mana has some great battle themes (but they're mostly boss battles). Disgaea has some exotic battle tunes if you're looking for something a bit weirder, for example check Witch Hunting (from Disgaea). That's what I can come up at the moment haha

I never played 1-6 yet but i learnt to like the retro battle themes from the arranged versions from FFXIV and World of Final Fantasy. Plus i did a mashup medley recently featuring some of these themes.
In my opinion, the soundtrack of the final fantasy 6 is the best ever made. But I must agree that the battle music of FF4 is far superior to that of FF6. However, Nobuo Uematsu did Dancing Mad a masterpiece. And you did a great job on the FF4 battle song. Really enjoyed.

I know this is really resurrecting a zombie, but I’ve just discovered your covers and they’re friggin’ awesome!!! Have you covered (or have any plans to cover) the Chaos Shrine and Sunken Shrine tracks based off the original 8-bit music? The remasters are good and all, but they sound more like “let’s go for a stroll in the the enchanted woods” and less like “we’re going back in time to kill the source of all evil” like the originals had. I think you could do a damn good job at giving them some gravitas back! Thanks for what you do!!!
Thanks Thomas! I once made a FFI tribute album and Chaos Shrine was intended to be in it, I didn't like my arrangement back then and didn't include it, but I do love the original so I think I should go back to it one day and see if I can do it justice now :)
Hey! :) That's a good question, if we only count the "normal" battle themes, I think my favorite is the one from FF VIII, "Don't Be Afraid". Now, if we count boss battle themes too, then that list suddenly increases a lot, so I wouldn't be able to pick just one :P From these 6 on this video, my favorite is IV's What's yours? :)
There are so many different ways to re-arrange music, but i agree with you. I hope that someday, Uematsu will return to the original beat "dun dun dun dun dun dun dun"
Really nice, was hoping to hear some Mystic Quest (even though it technically doesn't count) or even the Legends/Adventure (same reason) since I think they have some pretty good battle themes as well.
You could also look at themes from any of the Tales of ______ series. Tales of Symphonia and Tales of the Abyss have some pretty good music. Chrono Trigger had a few. Disgaea go with Dear Comrade (it's a full song with lyrics though so if you're not into that go with something else) it's pretty bad ass. For Tales of the Abyss, I recommend a listen to Meaning of Birth which is the theme music to Luke vs Asch in their final fight. I could make a huge list surprisingly....
