- [July 2016] This is likely the closest you'll ever get to outer space so enjoy this authentic NASA-style simulator ride! Pick your level of intensity (green is more mild, orange is more intense) and lift off for a journey to Mars. 4K / HD POV.
"Mission: Space looks too intense for me." That is what I always said when my family and I were at Epcot. I finally plucked up enough courage and finally rode it in 2013 and now it is a must do. I always do the orange side.
I'm neutral on the inversion weakness. Is it as awful as people say?
Just looking at Motion Simulator 1 makes me feel sick.
I rode green last time I was there, but that was before they changed it and it was still just like orange but without the spinning. It honestly looks boring now that you just orbit the Earth and don't go to Mars (I always say that if might as well just be called "Soarin' in Space", lol). I want to try orange but I'm kind of scared to after hearing horror stories from a lot of people about how intense it is and how it makes you feel like you'll be sick or pass out. I do fine on pretty much any other motion simulator and I've also ridden a gravitron a couple times without coming close to getting sick, so maybe I'd be able to handle orange.

i used to love this ride on a kid and looking at comments on videos like these, they say they get sick but i don’t have a single memory of getting sick or not feeling well after this ride

The earth one has more wires than the orange one, more wires=more issues (NASA noticed this problem and alerted HP+DISNEY to fix the wires to the push systems, after two wire removals, there was the other problem 2 screws were loose and fixed) orange has yet to had problems I think

i had suffered from a concussion eight months before this ride and my doctor cleared me to ride this. i almost puked and my adrenaline was so high that i nearly passed out. i hate this ride so bad.
I was put off by this ride for the rest of the day and I am (as far as I know) totally healthy. I couldn't eat for hours.
I went on this! oh my god it felt so real like I was actually flying!! Made me feel so ill though lol I remember on the way out people where throwing up in the bins outside 😂

Lots of people have motion sickness in general and lots of people get sick on this ride, that's why they have 2 versions. Both my wife and mom got sick on this ride and it took them hours to feel better. My dad and I were fine. It just depends on the person if they get sick or not
@@musixand6aming Usually younger kids don't get as sick as adults. I never got sick as a kid, but get really sick now that I'm older!
Orange makes me feel like I'm gonna die.
I remember riding this when I was like, ten or eleven, and being absolutely terrified walking into the building, before standing in line and then screaming "I WANNA DO THE ORANGE SIDE"
It was great, I forget what my role was, but I remember it feeling so real. It was cool.
I’ll tell ya, A LOT OF PRESSURE. ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO MOVE YOUR HEAD IF UR UNDER 50kg. But, one of the best rides

Mission Space is my favorite ride at a Disney Park. That is the ride itself squeaking. Some cars used to do it far worse than others, this was actually the worst I've ever heard it. But it's not a problem any more.
I haven't gotten the chance to go back and ride it again, but they refurbished and updated the ride in 2017 (after this video was created), I assume mostly because of the problem we're talking about. Also partly just because the ride and it's queue videos were old. They now have two entirely different paths, the "Orange" more intense one is an updated version of this, and the "Green" (this video's subject) is now a more calm ride around Earth.

This ride is super old I remember it from my childhood and I'm 25 if it's still around I can only imagine how old the parts holding it up are lol. Cut it some slack lol 😛

@ John Jacobs I mentioned you in another comment, but just in case; That is simply the ride squeaking. It wasn't as much of a problem on Orange, but I noticed it a lot when I had to ride green with my family. Either way, it shouldn't be a problem any more.
They closed the ride down and updated it in 2017, after this video was made. I assume mostly because of the growing squeaking. It now has an entirely different Green mission, so I can say with 100% certainty that the squeaking is gone from Green. They did also update Orange's video to be more HD, so hopefully it got some tweaking too.
They should do a Millennium Falcon ride like this with the Astroid scene and the music and everything playing. That way you could feel like Han Solo.
star wars land is coming out in 2019 for disneyland and disney world, and the millennium falcon is one of the rides there

The next time I go to Epcot I will be sure to avoid this ride at ALL costs. I don't particularly enjoy vomiting and I especially don't enjoy seeing other people vomit.
This ride gave me the worst panic attack. It was just me and my four year old son and as soon as they closed the door I panicked. When the screen came close I got even worse and wanted to bang on the door but I didn’t want to scare my son so I just got through it but I could never ride this again.
i think the ride may have made it worse. It seems like the door closing may have been a trigger. i hope you’re doing better now :(

I’ve always been wary about experiences like this since I freak out a little on rides and skipped this but once I tried flight of passage (and loved it) I might try this next time
This ride is SO bad, and I only made green version. I was scared of flight of passage too but then I made it and loved it. But this one is a really different experience. The tiny space... in our case, it broke in the middle and we were panicking until they decided to open our cabin. I felt I was dying. I will never forget that. It breaks a lot. I wouldn't advice it.

The hulk was the same way. Wait in line for 2 hours for a 2 minute ride but it's worth it for the memories 😁 I remember the ride a lot more than I remember the line.

I got on it today . The second the door closed and those controllers pushed towards my legs I freaked out. Started screaming and banging help. Thankfully someone heard me.

I rode this ride recently, and I felt sick after. I do not like this ride. I found that people died on the ride. This is the green one, which is better. but this is what i found.
Another person has died after riding Mission:Space at Walt Disney World's Epcot. It's the second death in less than a year associated with the ride.
The 49-year-old German woman feel ill while on the ride Tuesday, and exited complaining of nausea and dizziness. She was checked, then taken to Celebration Hospital, where she died earlier today.
Last June, a 4-year-old boy, who suffered from a previously unknown heart condition, died after going on the ride.
[Update: (4/14) A medical examiner has issued a preliminary report stating that Hiltrud Bluemel, 49, died of a stroke linked to long-standing high blood pressure. The report did not mention a connection between the ride and her death.]
I am more than a little surprised that this attraction is still not retired. In fact, it was truly snubbed of retirement. Having caused seizures, nausea, dizziness, and headaches, killing at least 20 and injuring at least 200, Mission: SPACE was one that definitely should have been retired.

I did orange once and never wanted a ride to end so much, lol. After that I stuck with green.

I always wondered what happens if you ride this yourself do the controls move automatically or do they put random ppl together?
they automatically do everything if there's no one else to do the tasks. it was only me and my bf in one space the other two were empty
So usually when someone rides by their selves they will view different scenes and scenarios I think there’s one were you can fail the mission since there’s no one controlling the machine
i went on this when i was about 7 or 8. it was a very fun ride tbh. my cousin threw up on it though. i got to be the captain of the ship which was super fun and i would ride it again!

This is the Orange version, more intense. Super fun. You feel g forces but not spinning. This clearly is the mission to Mars and not Earth.
I had such a bad feeling about it, I was 15 years old when I went on this ride, I closed my eyes and the feeling got worse, I went on all the roller coasters at Disney, Universal and the Bush Garden, I've already jumped with a parachute, but I would never go in that toy again
Went on this 11 years ago when I was 17 with my dad I remember there was two options one that wasn’t as intense as the other and we choose the one with motion thank god there was barf bags my pops who was drunk as shit just couldn’t handle it lmao Disney is a blast can’t wait to take my daughters soon

I know im too late but it doesn't drop. Idk about the green side but the orange side spins around incredibly fast which makes g forces push down on you. Its extremely intense
Haha, I remember when my brothers and I went on this this year after 9 years since the first time we went to Disney World, we rode on this again and when they said "don't move a muscle" we crazily moved the joystick all around to see what would happen which I assumed it wouldn't do anything and I was laughing a lot out of the ride especially when I was doing the orange team

The original Mission Space was so intense that somebody died, so they made the ride itself less intense and added two modes, iirc
We almost did this ride in fact we got to the front of the line then we heard the warnings and my brother is claustrophobic and scared of the dark so then we did not do it but now watching this I’m relieved that we did not do it

When I was 7 me my two brothers and mum and dad were standing in the bit before you board your rocket thing and it said “if your scared of dark enclosed spaces please ask a cast member to escort you out before your journey begins”So as you guessed it..I freaked out ;-; And so 7 year old me me was freaking, my mom was trying to haul me onto the ride and then a cast member said “Is she ok?!?!” My mom literally screamed

Viviana I dunno if it’s too late now, but when I rode it when I was 17 back in 2017, I was absolutely fine. I was overweight and had anxiety, but I really enjoyed this ride. Nothing like what comments have been saying. Yes there’s a little pressure, but it’s not debilitating, at least in the green group. You only tend to run into problems if you’re an older person on this ride. Children generally don’t need to worry about it since they can handle g-forces way better than adults can.
