- Known as the "A-Train", Mike Alstott was a runaway frieght train of a runner, knocking over defenders in his wake. Had good agility for a guy his size (6'1", 250 lbs). Won a Super Bowl, was a 6x Pro Bowler, and a 3x All Pro. Scored 71 TD's in his career which led to a lot of "Alstott up the gut" calls.

His lateral quickness and ability to stop on the dime coupled with his size is unreal.
He was fantastic
His unmatched perspicacity coupled with his sheer indefatigability, made him a feared opponent.
Un fuckin real bruh
Not to mention his balance
@@NoHaBi02 Perspicacity??? Thx for the new word I never knew existed lol 💯
Before this video, I never heard the stat about Allstott’s touchdown rate per touch being better than Riggins or Csonka. Based on that, combined with how well he played and how many times he carried the ball during the Bucs Super Bowl playoff run, and I think there’s a strong case he belongs in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
I revisit A Train highlight clips every 4-6 months. One of the greatest running backs of all time.
My favorite power back, A true freak of nature. .I would not want the assignment of tackling that beast. He had speed, power and pure football intelligence. Much respect Mike Alstott 💯
I'd pick Earl Campbell for his power and speed, but Alstott was the last true fullback to average over 100 carries per season over his career. Considering he was paired with Warrick Dunn, another underappreciated top-flight runner, all that offense needed was a competent QB like Brad Johnson to win it all. Too bad Dunn was unable to share in the fun after being sent off to Atlanta after 2001. At least A-Train could celebrate! I wonder how he's doing now? Players who love contact as much as Mike did supposedly have a higher CTE risk. Hope he's one of the lucky ones who doesn't.
I can roll with that statement 👍🏽
Legend has it he’s never run out of bounds
I couldn't find any clips of him running out of the bounds.
Best damn FB to ever play the game
Daryl Johnston?
@@KobaBlack113 touche.... But I still have to go with big Mike
@@toeverypredatoryouaremyprey Yeah moose is a legend but Mike is a different breed!
Alstott. Now define a fullback?
A fullback is... Mike Alstott.
Zonk
That had to be a nightmare tackling him at the line or in open field
Yeah I wouldn't want to tackle someone with those massive shoulder pads running in my direction.
@@dukewilson14 yeah idk who would be worse him or Derrick Henry prob Henry
@@boxing4life410 idk man mike benched 600 pounds squatted 800 and runs like a linebacker 😂
@@boxing4life410alstott and it’s not close
I knew a guy in high school was on our team who ran like this. Our coach told us if you don't want to get hit in the back by Q do your assignment and open up that hole or your in for a hurting. Glad he was our team 😊😊😊
Thats some tuff solid advice😄 I seen some of these clips Alstott is tackling his own teammates trying to block for him trucking downfield while being in the middle of a pileup of defenders. INSANe🤯
Mike Alstott literally resembled a fleet footed Bison when he ran. And on the other hand he also resembled the Marvel comic book character The JUGGERNAUT. The man was simply ASTONISHING To watch when he had the ball. His tenacity, BALANCE And acceleration for a man that big was just truly insane.
Back then when I was home and not at work, I would channel surf to find a Tampa game on just to watch him play. He played a different game than most everyone else, it was from his heart, he enjoyed his job to do, no doubts he was going to lay it all out there.
@@billyhndrsn4542 THAT is an excellent description of his style of running. Iron Mike Tyson in his younger days when he was coming up to wage war on his March to the title, had that. Alstott a different sport of course, but had that same mentality and aura about him when he ran!
I can't pick a favorite run, bc his career was that good! God Bless Mike and his family❣️
He's pretty much the sole reason Minnesota didn't go 16-0 in the '98 regular season. Guy was an unstoppable force.
Best Powerback of all time imo.
Mr. Tampa Bay himself to get the first touchdown in Tampa Bay buccaneers super bowl history. He is my absolute favorite player of all time. God bless the a train.
Mike Alslott was a beast as a powerful fullback who could never be stopped because defensive players refused to tackle him. He had incredible athleticism, size and ability as a 6 foot 1 and 250 pound back.
THE RUN HE DOES AGAINT THE SAINT'S AT THE 1:40 SPOT IS THE MOST INCREDIBLE RUN I HAVE EVER SEEN. WOW!!!!!
The one and only steel tank with speed in football history
Dude was absolutely impossible to tackle 1 on 1. Mine was almost impossible to tackle with 6-8 tacklers. Mike was a beast like none other. Guy would run through a brick wall if it was in his way.
Also, LOVE the music selections, especially the classic football track at the end!
Him and Warrick Dunn were a lethal combo!
Happy 50th Birthday A-Train.👍🎂🇬🇧🇺🇸🏈🏴☠️
He’s the football coach at my high school
That's awesome, go learn from him!
Outstanding power and speed. Peyton Hillis looked like a return to that style, and then he gave up.
The GOAT in my eyes.
Mike Alstott football camp was the absolute best.
It's always surprised me that no team has ever tried to recruit another half-man, half-boar to play full back, given how productive Alstott was.
Great song choice, Duke, my goodness.
If he played in the 60’s-70’s he would likely be a top 3 back in rushing yards
Thank you Mike!!
He built our little league scoreboard for the new Lenox mustangs
JOLIET RAIDER NATION
He was a different breed
This was the juggernaut of the NFL
Unstoppable
Nicest man you will ever meet
This guy was a badass along with Tank Abbott n Ken Shamrock who I respect.
I got to meet Mike Alstott as a kid, had no idea he was such a beast
WHAT!? And where?
@@__-ti2en met him 2 times in Treasure Island Tampa because my step mom lived a street down from him.
@@BucsFan1307Cool stuff
REMEMBER MIKE ALSTOTT
The last real fullback
Mutant from X-men 3 th Juggernaut
I didnt know linbackers could rin like that
He’s a fullback 😂
The criteria needs to change to allow Alstott to be inducted into the hall of fame.
He should eventually get into the Hall of Fame
the modern day larry czonka...the biggest reason alstott is not in the hof is that the modern day fullback i position is not considered hall of fame worthy ,,,,, look how loNg it took ray guy to get in,,,,, still no STEVE TASKER.. NO BILLY WHITE SHOES JHONSON,,,, hell what are they gonna do to devin hester,,,,and finally........Adam Vinatieri YIKES!!!!!
JUST NASTY..🔥🔥
Nothing like the a train baby
I used his running style during my high school days. I didn't hesitate to drop my shoulders on you. Running people over, those were the days.
Shoulders square and head up.
How did your body hold up?
I miss dudes wearing those old school bricked up shoulder pads
The guy was awesome 👍
A beast
A train is the man
Who's idea was it to add The Karate Kid soundtrack from the 80s? 😂😂😂
I heard they had to customize his pants cause he kept running through them.
I love to watch the train . I think he said that he didn't want to wear cleats he prefered boots.
The only white guy jersey i ever wanted. And im a bear fan. He was dope!
Boy were those the dayzzzzzz
Hell Yeah
The first jersey I bought!
LOL, what was that at 5:46...flicks off the defender with his elbow and keeps going?? Just unreal...🤣🤣🤣
There was a reason they let Warrick Dunn leave in free agency and kept Mike. They picked up Michael Pittman and did just fine. I met Warrick twice and he was a dick. I met Mike and Warren Sapp, and they were both humble and nice guys. Don't believe what you hear about players until you meet them yourself.
Didn't know he was that tall at 6'1. Thought he was no more than 5'8 or 5'9
6'1 250# ..With speed, power, quickness and could cut on a dime.
Look at that move at 5:35! That was an ankle breaker!
Lot of corners and safeties making business decisions here. Must have been terrifying see that come at you.
the modern day larry czonka...
Bro was so low to the floor that he kinda broke gravity. Like He couldnt fall because he was already down there
Its like hes already stumbling when runs so when u try to tackle him u knock him back into balance
Never got injured much , crazy to take that much abuse , correction deliver that much abuse.
1:43 I had no idea he ever did cuts like that
That dead leg was so damn nasty
If he played today they are making A train a DE or LB.
One of the best to do it, and that guy from Minnesota, can’t spell his name but klinsauser?
Jim Kleinsasser
4:30 3 plp cant stop him
He had to be listed lighter than he actually was! The reverse of what sports teams typically do.
It was like watching Levon Kirkland play offense lol!!!
That's got me thinkin', did they ever square up???
Yeah I was surprised by how nimble and fluid Alstott ran.
Alot of business decisions were made by defensive backs and linebackers in this video😂
I would challenge anyone to find a clip of Mije being tackled by 1 person.
Only a fool would face him on the open field . . . .
He probably would have been moved to linebacker in todays game
Imagine him in Jim Browns era or Even earlier like Jim Thorpes era 🤦
Shane gillis
Imagine having to tackle this in the 4th quarter on a cold night… yikes.
Yeah defense is gassed by that point and you have a coke machine with feet running at you.....not fun man.

Too bad Mike"The A Train" Alstott will probably never get inducted into The Hall Of Fame.......
Bettis ain't got shit on Mike
Discipline.
GET OFFA ME!!!
for real if you are a team in the nfl and you can't even run the ball 1 friggin yard, you dont need to learn how to throw the hail mary, you need to retire.
Bad m
Poor man's Bettis
