Finally, my zone 4 annual garden tour! I hope you guys are doing well and enjoying your summer! Remote Camping At Spider Lake: • Camping At Spider Lake... mainegirloutdo... P.O. Box 82 Springfield, ME 04487
I'm in Oxford county, Maine & 1st thing that comes to mind with your bird eating seeds issue is to save your milk jugs , cutting off the very bottom. Place over your seeds to prevent the bird robbing..
I haven't tried Baker Creek seeds, but I have had good luck with MIGardener, Hoss Seeds, and Johnny's seed. Johnny's is a bit more expensive - but great seed germination.
Your garden is looking good, we had tons of problems getting beans to grow, ended up planting them 3 times. I think the blue jays were taking our seeds, once we planted for the 3rd time I covered the bed with fence, never saw another blue jay in the garden after that and the beans grew. We have had so much rain here the only thing really growing is the lawn.
Garden is looking good little lady, mine did not do so good down here rained every other day until after planting time then after we planted it didnt rain for over a month and the rabbits ate a whole row of my blue lake beans, got some late squash zucchini and cukes that are looking promising now though take care its hot here too 98 today and always humid, thos kids are growing up way too fast especially daygirl 👍
Too bad about your green beans, but the rest isn’t looking too bad. Hope you have better luck with the birds. Sweetie is too cute. Thanks for the video.
If you cut the basil back when you transplant it will have less transplant shock and come back better. Just something I've learned that may help. I've struggled with spices but finally started to get it right, so much so that I am selling them freeze dried at our stand.
My garden is suffering from lack of rain and deer raiding it. I have only bell peppers and tomatoes left. I did get 11 quarts of green beans. I planted Blue Lake bush beans, but they were more like string beans and wax beans. I planted Burpees seeds. I am a bit discouraged. I was almost finished mowing the yard (after waiting 3 weeks!) and the I got the deer show. Five deer came out in the hay field that butts up next to my back yard and were frisky. Two of them were rack bucks in velvet. Those 2 played "doe slap" with each other. It was 92° and 3:30 pm! Crazy deer!
@@atlanticocean640 Not in NC. I believe that one must own at least 50 acres to get a crop damage permit. I'm on .6 acres. I don't use any sprays. My neighbors around me have honeybee hives. I need the honeybees!
I had the same problem with my peas germinating as you did. Then I found Burpee's "Pea & Bean Booster" (nitrogen-fixing bacteria granules) at Tractor Supply. One package costs $2.49 and treats a ten foot row. It's well worth it! I no longer have gaps in my rows of peas and beans. Consider it for next year.
Very nice. I grow the Marketmore 76 cucumbers too. Perfect for my refrigerator pickles and salads. I built them a small trellis to climb and they seem to like it. They are growing up to the top. You may want to try it too some time. On the other half of the trellis, I have rattlesnake pole beans. Working perfectly and it is such a space save for a small garden like mine. Just a couple of T-posts and some green trellis netting zip tied to the posts. Thanks for the video.
Hope you doing well haven't ben watching videos we had cat get sick we had take it back to the animal hospital hopefully i can watch videos this evening bless you and your family
Thanks for sharing your lives.
I'm liking the t-shirt at the end Danielle. Yes, Whiskey does help. Make mine three finger's of Pendleton please. 🤠 Take it easy!!

Love this and can’t wait until you make the best spaghetti sauce with all of your garden varieties

Very nice looking garden. Looks like you’re going to have a good yield for your hard work
Thank you. I hope so!
I also ordered seeds from Baker creek. I had issues with beets though not germinating. Just across the border in NH.
Those are some very cute scarecrows you have running around there 😅

That's great advice, thank you so much! I will definitely try that next year.

I believe if you’re in Maine you can get a permit to eliminate the deer problem. I did it a few years ago my garden is perfect now.

Good garden In progress . I don't do gardening myself , I go into DT's when I see a hoe . Brings back hard labor memories when I was young . 😅😂😂😂😂😂
That is real disappointing when you put all that work into a garden and you get nothing in return I know
