    The concept of Rufus, a Hell demon who's apparently just there to b***h slap criers, makes this movie comedic gold.

    It's kinda funny that he was buried in a suit, but he was still wearing his surfer outfit in Hell, as if the production couldn't afford to rent a suit for the entire shooting.

    • @deathsyth8888
      @deathsyth8888 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I think it's because he died in his wetsuit and it's not a direct shot in the timeline from the funeral to the scene where he wakes up in Hell. If that were the case, most people would be in fancier outfits in Hell compared to the regular clothes that everyone else is wearing.

Like Mao, the man with the largest body count in human history, is above Hitler and Hitler is above the Columbine Shooters who are on par with Judas Iscariot. A Tim Chey movie? Careful he might try to sue you if you speak too poorly about it. He actually tried that back in the day when "Suing the Devil" was ripped apart online. He went after a bunch of people on IMDB for talking poorly about it and literally threatened to sue them because, and I quote, "movie companies look to IMDB to determine if a movie is worth distributing" and because people were giving it 1 star reviews he blamed them why it didn't make any money.

    • @Tim85-y2q
      @Tim85-y2q ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The irony being that this type of faith-based film usually has more chances of getting meaningful distribution of some sort than a secular film of equivalent level/budget could even dream of. I mean there are films that were essentially shot on a cell phone in a church basement that have gotten wide releases in actual theaters.

    So this is pretty much a judgement house movie with pretty much the same production values lol. My church used to take us to those when I was a kid. If anyone doesn’t know what a judgement house is it’s pretty much a haunted house designed to show some kind of guilt trip story about sin and death that end in a haunted house themed around hell to scare kids into getting saved on Halloween. It’s messed up. And it happens at various evangelical churches across the country at Halloween.

    And yeah, the wife is a total wet blanket. I mean, yeah it's good to be a good Christian who wants to help and think of the poor, but this seems all there is to her personality wise. I'd figure if the husband threw a birthday party with a big cake he baked, she'd be like, "Think of all the people who don't have food that would never have such a big cake." 13:20- I'll stick with Nero from Star Trek '09, thank you very much.
    13:43- Because of course a movie like this has characters just called "Democrat."
    16:08- 😆
    17:51- And I'm reminded of the part in your Passion of the Christ review where your subtitles made Jesus say "I stole this from a 7 Eleven."
    21:17- There was someone in The Burning Hell who complained about being in Hell for 1,000 years.
    The Zodiac Killer in this movie looks nothing like a devil-worshiping mailman.
    22:00- This movie loves being topical, doesn't it?
    23:04- Dude, keep your first world problems to yourself. Besides, at this time in human history, people are more concerned about Paul Muad'Dib Atreides and the Fremen fighting the Harkonnens on the planet Arrakis...I am such a nerd.
    25:16- I guess the budget for this movie didn't cover buying decorations from the local Dollar General.

    “A LITERAL BIBLICAL HELL” on the poster is funny, ‘cause Hell isn’t actually in the Bible. Our popular concept of what Hell is comes from early Bible fanfiction like the Divine Comedy and Paradise Lost.

    I'm nostalgic for Twilight Zone episodes now, like the one where a guy thinks he died and went to heaven (he did not). Or the classic "I had time now". The old guy and his dog who died and walk down a road to one of two afterlives. The guy who comes back to life and turns out it's a demon who runs for office (you want to know any of these please watch the show 🙂).

    1:44 did they seriously put a quote from Satan saying "this movie defames me!" as the box cover quote for their movie? They have to be taking the piss, right?

    There should be a movie, where when a devoted christian passes, they go to heaven's gate, where Zeus is standing in front, asking about your beliefs.
    "So you believed in a Christ? You naive fool!"

      Thanatos throws them on the floor before Hades and dread Persephone, anyway. Then those two give a FAIR judgement.
      Or alternatively, have it turn out that any other denomination of the dead person's own religion was true. Imagine Jesus saying "You believed I was partially human? Where did you lot *get* that idea? Take him to hell!"

    You know from the way this movie depicts things, Jesus sounds less like a savior and more like a memetic infohazard. If you hear about Jesus but don’t worship him then you get tortured for eternity, but if you never hear about him in the first place you’re in the clear. This is some straight up Roku’s Basilisk type shit

    So, this movie, probably inadvertently, shows a problem with Hell (and of course Heaven). Eventually you’d normalise it. I don’t think eternal torment is possible unless Satan is endlessly creative!

    • @SpukiTheLoveKitten75
      @SpukiTheLoveKitten75 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It also seemed to inadvertently promote Universal Reconciliation (at least the kind that believes in Hell but only as an intense Purgatory rather than forever). I like that. The idea of eternal damnation makes no sense, and it makes God out to be both a monster and a failure. It's blasphemy.
      As corndog as this dumb movie is, it does call out the hypocrisy, bigotry, classism and greed of most of Evangelical Christianity... and it even seems too, albeit accidentally imply Universal Salvation (stay in Hell until you realize what a heel you were and show genuine remorse, then you're forgiven and can leave).
      I know it's supposed to be all a dream, but if the makers believed in Eternal Damnation, they would've not included the devils getting all wonky when someone shows remorse and just have Mr. Badmann bolt upright and awake on the beach when all the famous evildoers and long-haired devil guy were about to clobber him.
      The movie is silly and cheesy but in more competent, Progressive Christian hands with a scarier Hell, a "righteous" wife who is less irritating, and the stuff I've pointed out, it could be a genuinely good, less insane answer to whatever Estus Pirkle spews.
