    My first knife was a Barlow. This Baklash is a rock solid EDC.

    Of course buck knife 110 inherited it from my dad when he passed away in 2004, accidentally left it in my carry-on luggage ( It had been in there for a week while I was on a cruise)and the TSA at the airport threw it in the garbage. The part about that that really hurt was it it was my dad's :-(

    My first pocket knife did not have a name... It was given to me by my grandfather when I was 6 to whittle on the porch with him. Both long ago passed. I currently carry either a civivi Elementum or a spyderco manix

    • @TheKnifeBeater
      @TheKnifeBeater  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your first knife might have been nameless, but it sounds like it was pretty special. The Elementum and Manix 2 is a good 1-2 punch combo. Thanks for sharing that J.

      I hear ya David, a forward choil eats up some of the sharpened edge. Which is why there are some knives I believe just don't need one.

    My first given knife was a Barlow, they used to sell them at the barber shop, like a dozen of them inside a cardboard advertisement. Sucker was sharp. Very first cherished knife I can remember buying that hooked me was the Kershaw 2415 ST. No other knife's action has ever sounded cooler and I still have it. It was so innovative for its time, a liner-lock, fast one-handed thumb-stud opening, strong aluminum handle w/ rubber inserts, great pocket clip, super light and an edge is so fine it was always easy to resharpen. As a teen I would be drooling at the flea market martial art / knife tables and once I saw it I had to have it! it was the most I ever paid for a knife at that time in my life, $65.! No regrets, still functions as well as the day I got it. Still got that Barlow, still sharp too!

      @TheKnifeBeater  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow, thank you for sharing the history behind those knives Ninja. Your Kershaw 2415 is not easy to find and it's worth a decent amount. You're right, it was truly innovative when released. Nice to hear you still have it. Thanks for watching, you're in.

    After owning the Praxis the Baklash is on my wish list. I had small pen knifes my dad gave me as a kid, but don’t remember the names. It was probably a Case. The first knife I bought in my fairly recent knife addiction was a Kershaw Tension from Cabela’s. That started me down the road to obsession!

    Very good no frills review. He pointed out an important disadvantage which was the finger choil reducing the blade cutting length and being a possible hang up. It's a minor imperfection in my estimation. Thank you for a clean, concise, clear and highly useful review. I am now subscriber! About the only suggestion is to review the backlash versus the brazen and the differences between those two civivi knives.

    This really is, a great knife. I've got my second one coming in tomorrow. I had to get it, in two different colors!
    I do still like the Praxis better though. I also have that one, in two different colors.
    My first knife, was a Barlow. Like so many in the comments have said. I also got mine in a Barber Shop, when my Dad took me in for a haircut. Like
    NewCastleNinja mentioned here earlier.
    A great knife. I still have one, though not the original. I lost my first one, riding my bicycle!

    What's this now? A human finger sized finger choil is going to take away a good bit from the the cutting edge? UNACCEPTABLE!!! :P I don't remember what the name of my very first folder was other than it was a very small backlock with a nail nick and a wooden scales which was given to me back when I was put into scouts by my parents ages ago. Edit - found it, it doesn't have any markings other than "persian stainless" on the blade (whomp whomp)
