I'm a single mom and I was seriously annoyed about having to do this but it turned out to be super easy. I fixed my mower and I'm proud of myself!! Haha. Then fixed I the neighbor’s. (Thankfully they were the same.) 😂Double thanks!!
My lawnmower hasn't been working since last fall, and I was very frustrated and decided to watch a repair video to see if I could fix it myself. I am glad I watched your video, it was very straight to the point filled with detail and instructions to the point that I was successful at fixing my 1 year problem thank you so much for allowing me to save money and time
Thank you! I cleaned out the carburetor with a sewing needle, cleaned out the gas tank and put in fresh gas, and fired it right up! I couldn't have done it without you.
Friggen AMAZING! Worked like a charm!! Our local shop was a month out so I decided to give it a try. Changed the spark plug. Got old fuel out/ new in. Would sputter but wouldn’t start. Found this video and gave it a try. STARTED ON THE FIRST PULL!! THANK YOU!
Thanks Hyatt! Hope you're doing good too!! I'm not a huge fan of living in a neighborhood, but I've found ways to do the stuff I like to do here, and help people along the way.
Awesome clear and concise video. Great explanation and did the trick. Back up and running Fast. Sorry lawn repair shop but you take the loss and we win on this one.
Awesome! I searched high and low for a video to fix my lawn mower that I left gas in over the winter. While following your instruction, I noticed that the holes in the ejection system did not look clugged. As per your instructiin, I cleaned the out anyway. Low and behold it started after reassembly. Thank you!
I have been using a machine with a B&S 450 engine for 10 years, when I once started having carburetor problems I simply used premium gasoline, which in cars cleans the injectors, for three years I have been using it professionally. I add fuel stabilizer. No problem.
I've never worked on a plastic carb before and couldn't get this thing running after cleaning until I watched this. Runs perfect now minus the throttle wiggling a bit!!! Thanks for your help!!
Success! I knew i had to clean the carb but never did a plastic one so the step by step was super helpful! Just old fuel in the carb that didn't allow the engine to turn over. Thank you!!
I cleaned my carb as per this video carb cleaner and air compressor reassembled fresh gas ran like a Swiss watch cut my grass thanks for the video keep up the great work.
Thanks Kenny! I work on tons of small engines for my neighbors. In my neighborhood I've become the "go to guy" for this kind of thing. Wasn't really intentional... just kind of happened lol. I figure while working on some of them, I may as well share some knowledge of them on here as well.
@@TractorHoarders I kind of have the same reputation in my neighborhood, and at work.... "A jack of all trades is a master of none... But a jack of ALL trades is better than a master of ONE!"
I decided to replace the jet on mine with a newer design (before 2018 vs after 2018). Snapping the new jet into place was a MAJOR chore, there is no way you can just push it into place with your thumbs. Be warned, other than that it is a fairly easy process.
Worked like a champ! 💯 percent satisfied. White crusty particles on the plastic tubes. Cleaned and reinstalled. Nothing beats the smell of lawn mower engines running in the morning. Any recommendation for fuel additives prior to storing in the winter?
Nice job!!! My recommendation would be to use a non-ethanol gas. I know you can’t get that everywhere, so if you can’t, just make sure to run the mower a few minutes every month in the off season, OR run it completely out of gas before storing it over the winter. STABIL is an additive that some people use, but I personally don’t.
I have 4 mowers to work with. On a briggs and stratton pushmower it doesnt start. Clean new gas. I cleaned carburetor. I replaced a needle and seat. The floater doesnt lay flat, but its springy. Is that ok the floater isnt level cause of the needle and new seat ?
Everything I did on my toro 675 series,, I consulted to all experts mechanics on TH-cam,, but still won't start my lawn mower,,, perhaps I need to change my plastic carburetor,, I had checked spark plug,, compression,, timing,, gasoline all perfect,, many thanks bro...
Eduardo, I have a small engine repair playlist that has a few more of these. I'd say it's highly likely your issue is carburetor related. If this method doesn't work for you, check out my other videos. Best of luck!
I’m sorry, I have no knowledge in lawn mower repair, but bcs my new one doesn’t start, I ve watched a lot of videos and read every comment after each of them. In your case technicians and people who knows what they are talking about , say : try to clean carburetor one more time You can replace it as well, it’s my suggestion after all Thank you
Hey Hans, what spark plug does the Brigggs and Stratton use and gap size ? Can u show a video on how to pick and gap size the spart plug please thanks. U got a fan here in the SHOW ME STATE of ST. LOUIS MO.
Thanks buddy! I always enjoy driving through MO; it's a beautiful state. Briggs and Stratton part 692051 for the spark plug. Of course that can be cross referenced to other brands like Champion, Autolite, etc..
Hey, i just got started fixing lawnmowers and I’ve already sold 4. I bought one for 40 but it’s missing the “blade control” cable. I got wires to connect it but i don’t know to what hole to connect it. Any chance you know which one it is?
Sorry, it’s difficult for me to envision without knowing the make and model. See if you can search your model # in Google for a parts diagram. That will likely show you the location.
Hellllpppp......I got it to start.....buy its leaking gas now.......is the linkage cable supposed to go in a certain way? I'm thinking now the float isn't wrking properly
Hi! If it’s leaking gas, you’re right, it could be the float valve or the rubber o-ring at the bottom of the bowl. The linkage cable should go in whatever hole it came out of. Sometimes you can tell because the hole has some slight wear to it. You’re on the right track… good luck!
It’s possible there may have been some crud in the gas tank that got back into the carburetor and clogged a passage again. If thats the case, you may need to flush the gas tank, possibly replace the fuel line (if it’s deteriorating) and clean the carb again.
@@TractorHoarders That would be my luck lol I was able to start it back up, though it did stall out a few more times, but I got the job done. Next time I need to mow, if it still happens, I will try and your additional suggestion. Thanks so much for this awesome and very helpful video!!
If you disconnect the fuel line from the carburetor, does fuel run in a steady flow from the tank out of the hose? In the carburetor, the float could also be sticking causing the fuel to not flow. Or some other fuel obstruction. You know you have spark or else starter fluid wouldn’t work, so it’s definitely a fuel delivery issue.
I would recommend cleaning it again. Usually some passage needs cleaned a little better if it’s still doing that. It can be other things, like air leaks, too. It’s most likely an obstruction in the carburetor though.
To me that seems like a fuel problem. I would check and make sure there is a constant and steady fuel flow from the tank to the carburetor. If there is a fuel filter, you may change that. There could also still be a carburetor issue. I have some other videos in my Small Engine Repair playlist that go into further detail on that process.
If it’s starting, it means your ignition system is good and you have spark. Because it dies after starting, that means it’s not getting fuel and likely has a fuel restriction in the fuel line or carburetor.
PLEASE HELP!!! I did all of this down to the “T”, and now I have gas squirting out of that little white nozzle next to the fuel line and it’s squirting out of the damn Primer bubble??????????
Your float might be stuck? Re open it and confirm it opens and closes like it should. Worst case, you can buy a new carburetor off of Amazon for cheap.
