Hello, you are not supposed to pull the silicone tabs all the way out! You pull it halfway out to break the seal of the airtight container, so if you have smelly fish or something, then you put the lid on, push the lid down a bit, then push the silicone tab back in. The tab is what releases or holds the vacuum seal on each compartment! I hope you did not throw them away!
