I definatly believe in this. i remember being at my fastfood job and i was changing the trash and i saw a little 12 year old girl complaining to her gma about a sprained wrist. so i came up and tlked to her and put my hand on her wrist and prayed in Jesus name to heal her hand and when i was done she twisted and turned her hand and was totaly SHOCKED at how there was NO pain at all!! same thing happened to me with an elder lady with a collapsed lung, and another time with me and my tooth ache

I have the gift of healing and I can hardly, if ever, pray for somebody and they get healed by my own will. I literally have to wait for months, if not years, for God to give me a new assignment to lay hands on somebody for them to receive supernatural immediate healing. In Jesus mighty name of course.

I have learnt that God not always gives blessings vertically but most of the time He does it horizontally using his people, his servants. if we keep away from people we are going to loose a lot! God give me the grace to be with people and be a blessing to them.

Just like your car, you don't drive it all the time, but you can start the engine whenever you want to and go where you need to be.
My Brother had degenerative perthes disease of the hip, he was healed by god in Brighton Michigan. His screams of agony used to keep us all awake at night when he first developed it. His hip socket started growing like a honeycomb, for several weeks we didn't sleep because every night he would scream and scream. He saw the best doctors in the state during those few weeks, they told him he was fucked, he would never walk or ride a bicycle. We prayed for him at church and he was anointed, he was healed. Those very same doctors couldn't believe it and they said so, making a very big deal out of his 'miraculous' recovery. ✝️
Where it says in the book of James about praying for the sick I think that is for the church ,,but Jesus said go and heal ! Which is for anyone I think and the word GIFTS ! Are worth thinking about
The simple laying of hands does not require a Spiritual Gift, anointing, Baptism or the like. He said Go do it, these signs will follow those that believe. The Gift of Healing in 1 Cor is one of the 9 gifts of the Spirit as a part of the Baptism in the spirit. This goes beyond one on one ministry, it can be displayed in a group of a few people or in groups numbering in the hundreds or the thousands.
i had two ailments that were healed by praying to jesus, the father, the holy spirit. i had a involuntary head nod when i would sit still. it was healed instantly. as well i had a thyroid problem hypothyroid, god enlarged it instantly i could feel it with a warmth. this was directly after i talked to a pastor who was struggling with thyroid. also this happened during fasting. healings occur amazingly. u just need to have faith and god will heal during his time.
Even though he hasn't seen it and experienced it, I love how John Piper trusts that God will give those gifts when it glorifies Him. I'm willing to bet God has given Pastor Piper the gifts of knowledge and the gift of great faith. Praise God for giving us shepherds like him!
I personally feel anyone can have any of the gifts in the Bible as long as you are willing, God is willing to bless you with them. So like Pastor John said don’t think you don’t have a gift just because you’ve never personally healed someone before because God can use you if you are willing 🙂 and asking in prayer.

I have had the gift of healing activated a couple of times in me and it always came with a sense of anger to the particular ailment and at that point I would pray or ask the person to pray and it would just go away.

I don't think God gives the same gifts to everyone. And I want to see some amputees healed as well. It is not that I don't believe, but why hasn't this been shown?
If the Lord were to show himself too obviously, which he will in revelations, free will would be redundant. For people would see to believe. When they should believe to see. Therefore the Lord works in small, mysterious was in order to restore and keep faith, while bestowing the amazing ideal of free will.
It doesn’t matter if we haven’t been given the gift of healing like Jesus had, because Jesus was given every gift by the Holy Spirit. Jesus himself said that if we ask for anything in Jesus’ name, Jesus will do it. He just wants us to have a bit of faith in His promise; so don’t take no for an answer, because it won’t be the Lord saying no.
I go to a church, I loved it so much and adored my pastor but once I read through the whole bible I realized his doctrine is off, he preaches that God always wants us healed, but that its our lack of belief that is why we dont receive it. (not faith, but belief) and something never sat right with me in regards to that, I love John Piper so much!
I agree with what he’s saying, however, you are speaking about the gift of faith which acts similarly to a gift of healing. There are several gifts of healing, of those I know, the burning of the heart with fire to clean out and restore a man’s soul from heartache, the gifts of healing on the physical body, such as blind eyes opening, def ears hearing, senses coming back, pain leaving, limbs growing, strength returning, and every other impossible thing made possible. Some gifts are in faith, meant for a blessing that you may keep faith in Jesus who died and rose from the grace and continue to put trust in the Lord. Then, some are given to the spirit of a man, that they are able to be used all the time in power of the Holy Spirit. And a measure of faith given with that gift. Most people can see miracles here and there of many tries. 3/1000 maybe 30/1000. However when you have a gift or gifts of healing in power received from impartation of someone or given by someone with that power, then you can see closer to the numbers of 900/1000 people healed, or indeed higher. Currently I can testify that it feels like 90%+ are being being healed when I lay hands and command healing in the name of Jesus. And I have given the gift of healing on my life to people and seen them produce the same results as I have IN THE NAME OF JESUS. By no other name have I seen a miracle. I hope this helps anyone longing to understand what the gifts of healing are. It is a plural. Many gifts of healing have been given to me, yet I give them as one gift.

The gifts of healings and healing by authority are two different things that have similar results. Gifts of healing - manifests in what ever form that is needed for a particular situation, it often manifests in large groups or crowds. Think whole congregations or stadiums. Healing by permission/command is like in Mark 16 Jesus told his followers GO, lay hands on the sick - they will recover. The baptism in the Spirit is not required, Jesus gave us permission to do this and expects it from us.
To say that one of the gifts has ceased because Paul didnt heal someone in Philippians is just like saying that God is not tri-une because the word "trinity" isnt in the Bible. The disciples couldnt heal the little boy in Matthew 17:14-17 BUT Jesus healed the boy right after! Just because someone isnt healed instantly doesnt mean that its not a gift the Holy Spirit gives.

Isaiah 53 By His stripes you are healed is talking about spiritual healing not physical healing otherwise people would be instantly healed the moment they are saved which clearly is not the case.

God can heal everyone but it’s not always his will. Spiritual healing is always available but physical healing not so much. I have been to churches that constantly claim they heal people yet the ones who I know personally that are in wheelchairs & walking with canes are never the ones that get healed. And yes they went up to the front and got hands laid on them. I think alot of these preachers take Isaiah 53:5 totally out of context. They ALWAYS leave out the 1st part "And He was wounded for our transgressions & bruised for our iniquities and the chastisement of our peace was upon him"... and only quote "by his stripes we were healed"
The word sovereign keeps being tossed around as if anybody is confused about the fact that God is the one in ultimate control. Everybody knows that God is in control but when somebody doesn't have the answers or they have shrunk back from believing the written text they will often use God's sovereignty as a way to excuse them from coming up to a higher level and actually believing God! I'm actually getting quite tired of cowards in the body and there's a reason that there are many sick among us and it's because those who are called to actually participate in anointing with oil laying Hands-On and praying in faith are not doing their job! I would love it if God would take it away from the coward and give it to the one who doesn't have that fear and need for control. The Bible says it's impossible to please God if you don't come to him with faith so if you come to him and you still have a need to control his Holy Spirit by feigning that you are glorifying him through speaking of his sovereignty, you are not deceiving anyone but yourself. I'm so tired of the cessationist camp doing everything they can to strip the body of Christ of the gifts that God gave for us to minister on the Earth. I love John and he is an amazing writer but he doesn't give a very clear answer to the question. He seems to ramble a bit and doesn't use any scripture to back what he's saying.
I believe the gift of Healing has ceased. If not, why could Paul heal in the Book of Acts, but later could not heal his friend?(Philippians 2:27) Also, when Timothy had stomach problems, he makes no offer to heal him or says anything about calling for the Elders. Paul had plenty of opportunities to mention the Healing when speaking of the Spirit, and did not do so.

That's a false teaching! I like John Piper but the Bible does not support the idea that healing is given as a gift during the time of prayer! It says that healing was given as a gift upon those who received God's baptism and received his holy spirit it doesn't say that the gift of healing is giving at the moment of prayer for the sick! Also the Bible makes it clear that the gifts and callings of God are without repentance that means God doesn't give the gift and then take it away and then give it again! The reason people aren't operating in that gift is because nobody will actually receive it and just take God at his word and everybody has such a prideful need to control the holy spirit that they won't just submit to the simple truth of the written text!
Sister thankyou so much for your frank and honest comments.... I am one such person who has operated with scepticism....which is crazy when I give consideration to how powerful I know God is.... Lately I have been severely convicted about grieving and quenching the Holy Spirit...those scriptures have come alive off the pages and then Matthew 12 really affected me when reading it recently..... Last year a small group of brothers and sisters I fellowship with initiated a food ministry to feed homeless people in Melbourne We began by cooking in my home, and through prayer God has been so gracious and we now have been blessed with a commercial kitchen each Sunday to cook and then serve these amazingly beautiful yet broken and hurt people.... When we began this ministry I prayed that God would use me to evangelise, and my zeal was so fleshly.....I had a heart to see them receive the Gospel of Christ but there was no glory for the work of God... I sensed God ask me to withdraw from preaching and to begin ministering in love.... So while some of our volunteers would serve food, I would take time to talk to people, get to know them and just build relationship.... This has been helpful for me for I realised as a young Christian (4 years....I am 55 years old...) I had not sufficiently understood the power of God to work through me by FAITH.... And so recently God has brought 2 beautiful men into my personal fellowship who are living out Mark 16:15-18.... I invited them to the Food Minsitry and walked with them and witnessed them pray for the healing and for deliverance... I then observed as they shared the gospel, bringing to understanding the impact of sin and the need for repentance.... It was truly beautiful and I say all this because I do not want to deny the power of the Holy Spirit.... I welcome any encouragement and direction you may have..... I came out of a greek orthodox religious childhood and when I received revelation of Christ and accepted him as Lord, I began to repent of my sin....His work in me has been so humbling.... But it is only now that I see that even though I have received so much blessing through repentance and through coming to understand the Holiness and righteousness of God....have I truly been set free from religion.... The deception even within the body is so significant, it is why Christ commanded us not to blaspheme the Holy Spirit...so much so that he warned it would not be forgiven.... To not lay hands on someone who God shows you is clearly in pain and hurting, when you know He is King and has commanded you to do so, is what I believe he is pointing to when he says. .... Isaiah 53 Jesus paid for our healing at the same time He paid for our sins. It is a package deal. Churches do not teach this. It is Satan that puts sickness on people if they out of ignorance let him. Healing is in the atonement. You need to study those who have this revelation. Kenyan, Wigglesworth, Bosworth, A.A. Every healing that I had and recovered from was the healing of God.You see even when God made me bone of bone flesh of flesh and Blood of Blood was the Result of Gods healing.God made me.

Just like your car, you don't drive it all the time, but you can start the engine whenever you want to and go where you need to be.

My Brother had degenerative perthes disease of the hip, he was healed by god in Brighton Michigan. His screams of agony used to keep us all awake at night when he first developed it. His hip socket started growing like a honeycomb, for several weeks we didn't sleep because every night he would scream and scream. He saw the best doctors in the state during those few weeks, they told him he was fucked, he would never walk or ride a bicycle. We prayed for him at church and he was anointed, he was healed. Those very same doctors couldn't believe it and they said so, making a very big deal out of his 'miraculous' recovery. ✝️
He is now 6'3, 235lbs, and deadlifts 500lbs.
Where it says in the book of James about praying for the sick I think that is for the church ,,but Jesus said go and heal ! Which is for anyone I think and the word GIFTS ! Are worth thinking about
The simple laying of hands does not require a Spiritual Gift, anointing, Baptism or the like.
He said Go do it, these signs will follow those that believe.
The Gift of Healing in 1 Cor is one of the 9 gifts of the Spirit as a part of the Baptism in the spirit. This goes beyond one on one ministry, it can be displayed in a group of a few people or in groups numbering in the hundreds or the thousands.
i had two ailments that were healed by praying to jesus, the father, the holy spirit. i had a involuntary head nod when i would sit still. it was healed instantly. as well i had a thyroid problem hypothyroid, god enlarged it instantly i could feel it with a warmth. this was directly after i talked to a pastor who was struggling with thyroid. also this happened during fasting. healings occur amazingly. u just need to have faith and god will heal during his time.
Even though he hasn't seen it and experienced it, I love how John Piper trusts that God will give those gifts when it glorifies Him. I'm willing to bet God has given Pastor Piper the gifts of knowledge and the gift of great faith. Praise God for giving us shepherds like him!

I personally feel anyone can have any of the gifts in the Bible as long as you are willing, God is willing to bless you with them. So like Pastor John said don’t think you don’t have a gift just because you’ve never personally healed someone before because God can use you if you are willing 🙂 and asking in prayer.

I think i have a gift of healing I can’t tell but during all this I have prayed for my family 2 times my mom has ill and I asked God to heal her the next morning and the next morning she woke up and she felt much better. My sibling was feeling ill before she went to a church service the next morning and the next morning she woke up and it turn out she was just nervous and went to go sing at the church that day

we have a child experience an overnight healing of mulloscum (sp?) firsthand!! at the precise moment of utter frustration then defeat (staph infected - the whole shebang), he and I prayed with all of our might , and the very next morning they (raised wart like leisions, scars, pus - eeeeew I know!) were *GONE*

I have had the gift of healing activated a couple of times in me and it always came with a sense of anger to the particular ailment and at that point I would pray or ask the person to pray and it would just go away.

It is a gift of the Holy Spirit. Jesus gave us the authority and the power through the Holy Spirit. The gospel does not come in words alone but in deeds of power also. I don't think God gives the same gifts to everyone. And I want to see some amputees healed as well. It is not that I don't believe, but why hasn't this been shown?
If the Lord were to show himself too obviously, which he will in revelations, free will would be redundant. For people would see to believe. When they should believe to see. Therefore the Lord works in small, mysterious was in order to restore and keep faith, while bestowing the amazing ideal of free will.

It doesn’t matter if we haven’t been given the gift of healing like Jesus had, because Jesus was given every gift by the Holy Spirit. Jesus himself said that if we ask for anything in Jesus’ name, Jesus will do it. He just wants us to have a bit of faith in His promise; so don’t take no for an answer, because it won’t be the Lord saying no.

I go to a church, I loved it so much and adored my pastor but once I read through the whole bible I realized his doctrine is off, he preaches that God always wants us healed, but that its our lack of belief that is why we dont receive it. (not faith, but belief) and something never sat right with me in regards to that, I love John Piper so much!

I agree with what he’s saying, however, you are speaking about the gift of faith which acts similarly to a gift of healing. There are several gifts of healing, of those I know, the burning of the heart with fire to clean out and restore a man’s soul from heartache, the gifts of healing on the physical body, such as blind eyes opening, def ears hearing, senses coming back, pain leaving, limbs growing, strength returning, and every other impossible thing made possible. Some gifts are in faith, meant for a blessing that you may keep faith in Jesus who died and rose from the grace and continue to put trust in the Lord. Then, some are given to the spirit of a man, that they are able to be used all the time in power of the Holy Spirit. And a measure of faith given with that gift. Most people can see miracles here and there of many tries. 3/1000 maybe 30/1000. However when you have a gift or gifts of healing in power received from impartation of someone or given by someone with that power, then you can see closer to the numbers of 900/1000 people healed, or indeed higher. Currently I can testify that it feels like 90%+ are being being healed when I lay hands and command healing in the name of Jesus. And I have given the gift of healing on my life to people and seen them produce the same results as I have IN THE NAME OF JESUS. By no other name have I seen a miracle.
I hope this helps anyone longing to understand what the gifts of healing are. It is a plural. Many gifts of healing have been given to me, yet I give them as one gift.

The gifts of healings and healing by authority are two different things that have similar results.
Gifts of healing - manifests in what ever form that is needed for a particular situation, it often manifests in large groups or crowds. Think whole congregations or stadiums.
Healing by permission/command is like in Mark 16 Jesus told his followers GO, lay hands on the sick - they will recover. The baptism in the Spirit is not required, Jesus gave us permission to do this and expects it from us.
To say that one of the gifts has ceased because Paul didnt heal someone in Philippians is just like saying that God is not tri-une because the word "trinity" isnt in the Bible. The disciples couldnt heal the little boy in Matthew 17:14-17 BUT Jesus healed the boy right after! Just because someone isnt healed instantly doesnt mean that its not a gift the Holy Spirit gives.

Isaiah 53 By His stripes you are healed is talking about spiritual healing not physical healing otherwise people would be instantly healed the moment they are saved which clearly is not the case.

God can heal everyone but it’s not always his will. Spiritual healing is always available but physical healing not so much. In this context "I am willing" says that I am always willing. Isaiah 53:4-5 Jesus bore his stripes so you would be healed and when God works it is complete.

I have been to churches that constantly claim they heal people yet the ones who I know personally that are in wheelchairs & walking with canes are never the ones that get healed. And yes they went up to the front and got hands laid on them. I think alot of these preachers take Isaiah 53:5 totally out of context. They ALWAYS leave out the 1st part "And He was wounded for our transgressions & bruised for our iniquities and the chastisement of our peace was upon him"... and only quote "by his stripes we were healed"

The word sovereign keeps being tossed around as if anybody is confused about the fact that God is the one in ultimate control. Everybody knows that God is in control but when somebody doesn't have the answers or they have shrunk back from believing the written text they will often use God's sovereignty as a way to excuse them from coming up to a higher level and actually believing God! I'm actually getting quite tired of cowards in the body and there's a reason that there are many sick among us and it's because those who are called to actually participate in anointing with oil laying Hands-On and praying in faith are not doing their job! I would love it if God would take it away from the coward and give it to the one who doesn't have that fear and need for control. The Bible says it's impossible to please God if you don't come to him with faith so if you come to him and you still have a need to control his Holy Spirit by feigning that you are glorifying him through speaking of his sovereignty, you are not deceiving anyone but yourself. I'm so tired of the cessationist camp doing everything they can to strip the body of Christ of the gifts that God gave for us to minister on the Earth. I'm not a man obviously because if I were I would certainly go and make sure that I become an elder of a church so that I could lay hands on people and not be afraid and not insist that God's sovereignty is somehow the excuse for my being a coward and faithless.

I believe the gift of Healing has ceased. If not, why could Paul heal in the Book of Acts, but later could not heal his friend?(Philippians 2:27) Also, when Timothy had stomach problems, he makes no offer to heal him or says anything about calling for the Elders. Paul had plenty of opportunities to mention the Healing when speaking of the Spirit, and did not do so.
You will believe that way until you Yourself will need a healing . Then your mindset will undoubtedly change. You are in error and need to study the word to show yourself approved. You are taking the Bible out of context!
In your touching their neck and touching their shoulder do you actually anoint them with oil like the Bible says or are you sidestepping God's written text and going about it in your own way because you're too afraid to command your congregation to literally literally obey the word of God not just in some imaginary folklore kind of way but in a real actual literal this is what the text says this is what we're going to do kind of way!

When people lay hands on others to be healed.. they aren’t claiming it’s them doing the healing. That’s the power of the Holy Spirit who lives in ALL of us.
That's a false teaching! I like John Piper but the Bible does not support the idea that healing is given as a gift during the time of prayer! It says that healing was given as a gift upon those who received God's baptism and received his holy spirit it doesn't say that the gift of healing is giving at the moment of prayer for the sick! Also the Bible makes it clear that the gifts and callings of God are without repentance that means God doesn't give the gift and then take it away and then give it again! The reason people aren't operating in that gift is because nobody will actually receive it and just take God at his word and everybody has such a prideful need to control the holy spirit that they won't just submit to the simple truth of the written text!

I am one such person who has operated with scepticism....which is crazy when I give consideration to how powerful I know God is....
Lately I have been severely convicted about grieving and quenching the Holy Spirit...those scriptures have come alive off the pages and then Matthew 12 really affected me when reading it recently.....
Last year a small group of brothers and sisters I fellowship with initiated a food ministry to feed homeless people in Melbourne
We began by cooking in my home, and through prayer God has been so gracious and we now have been blessed with a commercial kitchen each Sunday to cook and then serve these amazingly beautiful yet broken and hurt people....
When we began this ministry I prayed that God would use me to evangelise, and my zeal was so fleshly.....I had a heart to see them receive the Gospel of Christ but there was no glory for the work of God...
I sensed God ask me to withdraw from preaching and to begin ministering in love....
So while some of our volunteers would serve food, I would take time to talk to people, get to know them and just build relationship....
This has been helpful for me for I realised as a young Christian (4 years....I am 55 years old...) I had not sufficiently understood the power of God to work through me by FAITH....
And so recently God has brought 2 beautiful men into my personal fellowship who are living out Mark 16:15-18....
I invited them to the Food Minsitry and walked with them and witnessed them pray for the healing and for deliverance...
I then observed as they shared the gospel, bringing to understanding the impact of sin and the need for repentance....
It was truly beautiful and I say all this because I do not want to deny the power of the Holy Spirit....
I welcome any encouragement and direction you may have.....
I came out of a greek orthodox religious childhood and when I received revelation of Christ and accepted him as Lord, I began to repent of my sin....His work in me has been so humbling....
But it is only now that I see that even though I have received so much blessing through repentance and through coming to understand the Holiness and righteousness of God....have I truly been set free from religion....
The deception even within the body is so significant, it is why Christ commanded us not to blaspheme the Holy Spirit...so much so that he warned it would not be forgiven....
To not lay hands on someone who God shows you is clearly in pain and hurting, when you know He is King and has commanded you to do so, is what I believe he is pointing to when he says. ....
Luke 6:46 NKJV - “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?

It says gifts not gift!
Isaiah 53 Jesus paid for our healing at the same time He paid for our sins. It is a package deal. Churches do not teach this. It is Satan that puts sickness on people if they out of ignorance let him. Healing is in the atonement. You need to study those who have this revelation. Kenyan, Wigglesworth, Bosworth, A.A. Allen, Semore, many other famous healers.
