    Got some nice bits there Dan, nice bit of Silver too and a little Roman grot, must be hard work doing the gaps, actually surprised the farmer lets you on that field when it's in crop , ours don't 😂, well done on the 2K my friend, ATB Bill and Julie 👍😁♥️

    Im glad you showed the edges as no one else does because they believe it doesn’t make good viewing 👏👏 finds etc. again it shows me how real you vids are 👏. Danny boy a question for you. We all know about cut half’s and quarters etc. But how did they cut them. and what with. Going back a thousand years etc what did the use to cut them. If I had two penny’s and my meat was one and a quarter who would cut them me or seller 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️. Do you know. Would make a great vid m8. As I imagine lots would want to know and I haven’t ever seen a answer for it. Get on it Dan.

    • @DiggerDanMetalDetecting
      @DiggerDanMetalDetecting  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi mate, I believe they used to cut them with a cold chisel and hammer, or something just with household tool, ( you can tell, as some are cleaner cut than others ). The reason for cutting them was because the smallest denomination was a penny and there was a need for smaller change, ie half penny's or farthings, hence cut halves and quarters 👍.
      Hope that helps mate and thank you so much for watching 😁 👍

    Always do the edges! I found a Viking copy of an Alfred The Great penny just 10cm into the plough on the edge of a field. I do find a lot of shredded can as well, but I think all those holes are worth it for the one or two great finds.

    • @DiggerDanMetalDetecting

      Wow mate, thats incredible 😲. I'm not saying I never go near the edges but following a line around the entire edge on one hunt isn't something I've ever done, but I will certainly be paying a little more attention to them from now on 👍.

    Pretty sure your mystery item is part of the female piece of a 17/16c toggle clasp/fastener from a sword belt. I found the male part of one earlier in the year . There are some examples on the PAS website.

    Great video again, found my first hammered right in the edge almost under a hedge, found another one the other week on the same field close to the same part of hedge but on different setting’s on a equinox 800. I remember my Dad use to always say a lot of hedge rows on fields use to be path ways 100’s of years ago, so that always sticks in my head. 👍

    • @DiggerDanMetalDetecting
      @DiggerDanMetalDetecting  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Never though about them being pathways mate, very interesting though 👍.

      I always assumed that some of the hedgerows had been maintained for centuries. The edges would be natural pathways & resting spots from before mechanization.

    God your finding all that stuff and making a half hour long video metal detecting a thin strip of land, that is very good going!! Your 1674 mystery coin will probably be a Charles II farthing. George II was mid 1700's. Keep up the good work with the Legend, its a great machine to have at the moment for a TH-cam channel, almost wish I had one haha

    • @DiggerDanMetalDetecting
      @DiggerDanMetalDetecting  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Surprised myself to find all that around the edges of one field, but from what everyone is saying, I've been mad not to do them lol 🙃. I've always found lots of trash near the hedge lines and it's put me off in the past, but I will be searching them more now.
      Thanks for the ID on the charles mate, it wasn't until later on when it had dried off that I could see it better 👍.
      I love the legend mate, its a cracking machine and I feel I'm really gelling with it now 👌. I've been wanting to try out the Deus 11 but it's a little out of my price range lol 😆. Maybe we should do a swap 🤔🤣🤣.

    I have cleared an area of my land of harmful metal objects with my metal detector.Its scanning the land now with no bleeps and its taken 2 months.I am now finding bits of plastic which the detector cannot find - i spot them and remove them and its very tedious.Does anybody know if plastic scanners exist ? Is there such a thing that could work like a metal detector but for plastics ? Thanks

    • @DiggerDanMetalDetecting
      @DiggerDanMetalDetecting  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's always satisfying to take away some of that trash when you leave the field, knowing you won't have to dig it up again 👍. Can't say I've heard of a plastic detector, but that's not to say something of that nature doesn't exist.

    Nice one Dan 👍Starting to get worried, where's Tom?? 😆I was thinking the reason people find things when walking back to their car is because they detect slower, wanting one more signal before they leave.

    • @DiggerDanMetalDetecting
      @DiggerDanMetalDetecting  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm getting worried too lol 😆 I think he's forgotten what a metal detector is 🤣🤣.
      Now that's a thought, and sooo true, the slower you go, the more you find and I definitely try that little harder on the way back, makes perfect sense 👌.

    • @DiggerDanMetalDetecting
      @DiggerDanMetalDetecting  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the support, I really appreciate it 👍😀. There definitely is a difference in machines dependent on price, but you can get some really good machines in that price range. The simplex is an absolute beast for the money and really holds its own against some of the high end machines. If you haven't already, check out some of my older videos as I used to use the simplex 👍.

    we really do look forward to Mondays for your vids mate there brilliant , we find some roman coins come up at very high numbers its usually because of the very high copper content in them . some times its worth braving the trash at the edges of fields we have found some amazing stuff there especially on organised digs.

    • @DiggerDanMetalDetecting
      @DiggerDanMetalDetecting  ปีที่แล้ว

    Now that there is a good amount of moisture in the ground, have you tried running M3? It seems to really quiet the false signals & still hits small targets very well.

    • @DiggerDanMetalDetecting
      @DiggerDanMetalDetecting  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think there is a good amount of moisture and I general, detectors work much better and signals pop in moist conditions. M3 was added for wet ground, but doesn't specify how wet? I assume is is more for boggy conditions or river hunting. Personally I like to hear everything in the ground and I thing you may miss things in M3 as it is less conductive to tinfoil etc. Meaning I could be missing hammered coins and cut halves etc.

    another great video mate 👍 very educational congratulations on the coins I would never have dug that roman due to the fero check on your machine but when you dug it it totally changed time to rethink my signals 👍 cheers mate

    • @DiggerDanMetalDetecting
      @DiggerDanMetalDetecting  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you buddy, appreciated 😁👍. I only ever use the ferrocheck and numbers as a guide, and just use the sounds and tones to decide what to dig. If you have an item like that roman and some nearby iron, the ferrocheck can pick up both and give a false reading which is why it is only there as a guide. My biggest piece of advice I can give you, is get your ears tuned into 60 tone and you will have the legend working for you like a dream. If it sounds good, dig it 👌 😉

    I’ve realised the same buddy. That small charley read up like a big silver even a cartwheel. Maybe soil conditions. Plenty of free leafy greens for your sandwiches on that field.
