I didn't know there was a first edition until today! I agree with others, the 1st one has better colouration, and I also am not too keen on the key words... Add to that the changes of some card names, I wonder if it was originally what the authors wanted the cards to be named, or is that just a choice the editing house took. I noticed they flipped the image of the 5 of swords in the current version, why😮? I'm not a fan of the soft purple of the first edition, however the book that comes with the 2nd edition looks like it has a lot of information. I don't know what to do at the moment, the images draw me in but watching this video and learning of a first edition, I'm not sure what to do haha. Thank you for the video!
Hi B, im Lyla. I just found your channel and subscribed. This was a great video comparison. I ordered the Jolanda Tarot and should receive it by end of week. I do agree with you that the purple borders really help the art pop. Its like you can dive into the image. The white borders in second edition and the lighter coloration don't work very well. I'm still happy to have the 2 and addition though. Thank you for sharing ❤

Great video. Yes, this deck is definitely Thoth based…I agree with you about liking the 1st edition the best. That card stock would irritate me, plus the colors in the first edition are far more vibrant. ♥️
The new version looks like they lightened the colors, which is a shame. Like @ninecoinsfromsatu said, I see the more Thoth-inspired titles, although the courts don't follow Crowley's deck (Kings are Knights in his deck). I'd still like to get a copy of the original version, that's one I missed out on. Thanks for the side-by-side, B!

I love the illustrations but wish the saturation from the original printing was maintained in the newer printing. Also, I’m curious about the more obvious slant towards Thoth in the newer printing and wonder if the book speaks to that. Thanks for sharing!

Totally agree. Its such a shame that the colouring and card stock were changed😢

The old guide book was written in Swedish. However the book that is included in the new deck can be used with the 2008 deck ❤️
