I live near Austin and usually go to both spring and fall shows every year. Even spending the whole days of Saturday and Sunday there is no way to look at everything there - it's massive. I love it
You went for it and succeeded. A bunch of great adds to the collection. For my money, the best thing about these shows is the meetups with fellow VC'ers. Its what truly makes the trip worthwhile. Big ups on the Jesper Silva's Giant Steps, a favorite for sure.
Excellent, excellent vid sir, one of your finest in recent memory. Love how your body cam makes it look like folk are dancing as your moving! Wish we had a fair like this in the UK.
Looks like a cool record show! I like all the obscure and world music you find. It's cool to hear something different you've never heard before even if it's old.
Loved this video, Dillon! I've always wanted to go to the Austin Record Convention but plans seem to fall through. It was cool seeing Matt Kessler, Massie, etc. in your video! Glad you had a good time!
Thad Jones is a badass. I found a Definitive Blue Note list promo sleeve in one of my records. My first reaction was oh great, now I need to find and buy all of these.
great footage , good talk , i miss the ARC , i went in 2015 , bought a car load of records ( 45's and LP's ) , was there the 3 days , open to close , had to send them all back air mail . awesome time , i do remember how tired i was too , exhausting but was in my element no doubt
Hello from Tokyo! Long time watcher, first time commenter! Thanks for the great video! Super comprehensive overview. Best I’ve seen yet! Would love to go next yeah. Have some roots in nearby(ish) Oklahoma. Hope to meet someday. If you come to Tokyo, look me up!
Thanks for making this video, been wanting to go to this show, but just have not had a chance yet. Great to see conventions like this are happening. Spent a considerable time traveling to Austin, love it out there!
Thank you for another awesome video, Dylan! I loved this one because of the show scenes and hearing about (and seeing) the interesting purchases you made. I have been collecting records since 1977 when I was 15 years old. For as young as you are, I am blown away by how much knowledge that you have accumulated! You talk about groups and single artists whom I have never heard of before. You are amazing and I really enjoy your videos and feel like I gain a little more education with each one that you do.
OMG! Triana! Never imagined I would see a record of that band being known out of Spain. They were from my home town (Seville), and my father's favourite band, back in the 70s (he had their albums in cassette). Enjoy them!
It was great to see you out here this time, Dillon. Thanks for being a pillar to the community, and making us "outsiders" feel like we are welcome. Thanks for the recommendation on "Translucent World" too. Hope to see you around!
Fantastic stuff Dillon-a great insight into this record show..Wow some amazing mouthwatering titles on show ( 13th Floor Elevators to start !)....Thank you from the UK for sharing this..Great stuff 👍👍👍👍
Awesome 45s! Those Triana records are great. I like their first one the best. I very much enjoyed all of the footage and your recap of the convention. Looked like a blast especially the meetups. It must've been a whirlwind. I'm coming down to Charlotte the second or third week in June and am hoping to pop in to say hi.
Dillon, I agree that ARC is a little bit overwhelming! I've never made it all the way through all the booths there. Place is huge. Congrats on your awesome scores.
We have a copy of the dog cover Duffy going out for our 2-year! Such a cool album. Awesome video, man. I wanted to make one, but I was also overwhelmed and wanted to really focus on grabbing cool stuff for the shop/myself (if possible) -- but you're here to show me that it's possible to do both! I'll get on your level one day, brother. So nice to get to kick it throughout the weekend, was a lovely surprise to see you.
Nice Haul! I checked out some samples as you went through them & the one that really perked my ear's was the "Blizzard" 45 - Be Myself. Wow! The "Brown Acid" releases are a just amazing!
Bonkers stuff Dillon, killing it there with those buys. I've had one chance to get Scruffy Duffy here in the UK and foolishly didn't. Nice copy for £150 which was the going rate at the time but like most rarities its price has gone up further in recent years. That was certainly a who's who of the YT crowd at the fair. Cheers Nigel
Great video. Glad you stopped at my buddies from Pharr Out Records booth. It’s my favorite shop down here in the Rio Grande valley and I’m sure you will enjoy the Estaban (Steve ) Jordan album.
Yes, it’s very overwhelming, I go every year but Dangit I missed this one forgot all about it. Works a Bear! I heard Cub Koda used to go these conventions, before my time! Have you ever heard the album from Eddie Hazel Dames Games and guitar thangs? It’s a great guitar jam album I have the 9 track but I think the vinyl is also rare.😮
so nice.. I have a super clean og of pax.. it's an amazing album and such a great cover.. i need that Growing Concern!! You took stuff I wanted from the LSD records booth :( great finds dylan!!
Awesome that you found some Ache in Texas. One of the best prog rock groups from my native Denmark. Actually, it's not the original one you found, but the 1976 repress/compilation of their first two albums.
My first time going was in 2009 I went as a dealer. It was a memorable experience. The highlight for me was meeting John Pickering. He his brother and another gentleman sang background on buddy holly’s music.
Hello Dillon I'm talking about Brazil and I'm a subscriber to your channel, which I think is really cool to follow and get music tips from bands I don't know. In your video You mentioned that you didn't know much about hard rock or Latin blues or even South America. Allow me to just make one observation before I list some artists that I believe are worth following. Sorry take so long to write about it, but I was gathering all the information for you. The observation is that all of Latin America, which includes Mexico (which interestingly due to geography is North America) is nothing less than South America and Central America. It seems silly for me to write this, but I think it's important to point out. Anyway, if you like blues made here below the Equator, here are options and countries of origin: * Pappo's Blues - Pappo's Blues (Argentina) * Pappo’s Blues - Volume 3 (Argentina) A high quality Latin American blues classic that is considered a classic just like all the best records by Muddy Waters or John Lee Hooker. Here you will see that it is the version of 'Cream' for Latin America * Celso Blues Boy - Som Na Guitarra (Brazil) * Celso Blues Boy - Marginal Blues (Brazil) One of the best blues artists in Brazil. It's worth listening to. * Blues Etílicos - Blues Etílicos (Brazil) * Blues Etílicos - Água Mineral (Brazil) Perhaps the best Brazilian blues band, with a lot of technique and immense melancholy. For Rock, I recommend listening to the bands below that are among my favorites and, perhaps, the musicality will surprise you (although you may not understand the language well) Almendra - Almendra (Argentina) Almendra - Almendra 2 (Argentina) Sui Generis - Life (Argentina) Titãs - Cabeça Dinossauro (Brasil) Secos e Molhados- Secos e Molhados (Brasil) (CLASSIC!!CLASSIC!!!) For Rap, you can check Guanaco MC (Equador) Racionais - Sobrevivendo ao Inverno (Brasil) O Rappa - O Rappa (Brasil) Thanks for your content Regards
Heyyyy! You walked by my booth. I was selling my art in the corner. I'm in this video for just a second or two. It was cool seeing you in person. I had a feeling that was you!
Nice 2 hear U finally made it. We went 4x as dealers @ '05 & '06. Strange times; we didn't do well. Was middle of "will vinyl survive or not" era. Buyers paradise; dealer's bloodbath. Q: Is it still known as Doug Hanner's show?
I have been to the Austin Record Convention 6 times I only go to the spring show. I love seeing sellers with really good $1 to $3 records and a few sellers with killer $4 to $5 records I never send more that $7 on a record now. There is always this guy with the best selection and condition late 60s to early 80s RnB Soul Funk $4 to $8 records always priced at $20 to $25 I never saw anybody buying any from him. There is a killer record store in Central MO that has a amazing selection of $1 and $3 record I always try to stop by once ever 3 to 3 1/2 months.
Super glad to see you get into the world of 45s, that Cross Bloods one is fantastic. There's so many killer private press tracks out there where the original 7" really does sound way better than any compilation or digitized recording; absolutely worth the crazy prices in my opinion lol. Aside from non-LP tracks, you can also find a lot of great mono mixes and alternate stereo mixes, especially for the more common bands like the Beatles, Zeppelin, Jefferson Airplane. Some of my Doors 45's are the best experience I've ever had hearing the particular songs, and I can't even figure out why... just killer pressings. Not to mention all the great picture sleeves that are out there.
Very funny your spanish pronunciation 🤣Triana is one of the most loved bands here in Spain, and became a legend once its vocalist died in a car accident. I have all its albums. Best wishes from Spain
That Parliament record is cool as hell. I just picked that up for RSD exclusive. Definitely a funky album that people should listen too. . . Specifically automobile 🤣🤣🤣
Killer Juju record there was a compilation came out long ways back think was black fire which I think was a zine but was into Avant ,Soul jazz had JuJu on it
Best things about those big record shows is: that you know they have your grails but you only have to find them 😂 and don’t think I get it later because you can’t find it anymore or it’s been sold 😬.
NC-based too and been wanting to go to the ARS. Finally decided that this October was the year, only to find out F1 is in town and hotels are bonkers. Perhaps 2025 will be the year🤞
AKRITAS (Pronounced Acreetas) MY holy grail...had it on cd pressings and vinyl reissue until i found it at a fairly reasonable price (still, the most i paid for a record) AWESOME

i go to as many as i can in australia and i still haven't found a copy of 2 records i have been chasing for more than 20 years of my 2 favourite aussie bands , i have been searching for a copy of aussie thrash band Masssappeal's Nommo Annagonno and rock band Splatterheads Ink of a mad mans pen . i will keep searching for my holy grail.

Haha yes!
I've collected 45's since I was a teen (70's)! It's my favorite part of vinyl collecting.
I live near Austin and usually go to both spring and fall shows every year. Even spending the whole days of Saturday and Sunday there is no way to look at everything there - it's massive. I love it
Fun video and some cool ass stuff you got. So cool to finally meet you Dillon ✌🏼
Great to meet you too sir! Hopefully our paths will cross again!
Thanks for letting us come with Dillon. Nice to see you with Matt and Mazzy. Looked like a lot of fun! Cheers from Morten over in Denmark
I was spoilt, man. I went almost every year for YEARS. It was always a good time. That city shaped me.
You went for it and succeeded. A bunch of great adds to the collection. For my money, the best thing about these shows is the meetups with fellow VC'ers. Its what truly makes the trip worthwhile. Big ups on the Jesper Silva's Giant Steps, a favorite for sure.

them...awesome stuff.
Oh yeah! Too much good stuff!
I went 25 yrs ago, i remember it advertised as having over a million items for sale, vinyl, cds, posters, ect.
That Zipper shirt is awesome. I need that in my life. Where can it be procured from?
Shoot! I’ll be there next year!
Dude I was there Friday in your shirt! Should have been looking at the people!
Ha! There were too many records to focus on people 🤣
I went the two previous years .. What a great time

What camera did you use to get footage at the convention?
It’s called a “insta360 go” it works ok, wasn’t thrilled with the angle. It’s hard to get it how I want it
Finally some Greek music Dillan, so cool OPA
Hey! That's me at 30:24 in the ATX hat! I think you bought an Epitaph LP from me?
Hey! Awesome! Thank you! You had a great booth!
GREAT VIDEO,THE 45's ARE AMAZING.👍🥃
Thanks! I’m stoked about em!

Heavy 7s from Lance! For just getting started on 7s u got some real heat.
Haha thank you!
What is that song that starts at 28:03?
Just at our record convention here in Alabama is overkill for me. I can’t imagine being at the one in Austin

The greek progressive rock lp you showed is AKRITAS, great great record.

Dylan 💽 Ever Do a Video on Colored Vinyl/Picture Disc Records?
For more common records can you score good deals or are the prices still inflated?
Common records ever fairly cheap
Just got that parliament for record store day just passed . Early record the red hot mama and whole record sounds more like funkadelic before they figured it out

Hey Dylan. Great video. You dropped some coinage there! Are you gonna re-issue that Underground Fire record on your label? Would be sweet.
Yes! It’s being pressed now! It’ll be out in a few months!

I hope Brown Acid releases an album with only Woman in the titles as those are usually Brain melters, Dillon will you do an annual trip to this convention? Or go even bigger and go to Den Bosch in Europe?
