Literally as the review says "All roulette moves are for is more damage" Mike uses one to I-Frame through a projectile, manipulate an enemy, and then perform crowd control.
I heard the ign reviewer didn't even finish the game because he couldn't get past a certain level so he bullshitted the rest of his review.

I do agree with ign about one thing, your health should be refilled between levels.
It's not necessary. First, it does actually get refilled between full stages. But between sections, although it doesn't get refilled, the point is to try to survive without using any continues so you can get the 50K bonus. If you don't care about that, just lose to an enemy and your life will be refilled if you use a continue.
Oh, and there's the health upgrades at the shop, which you can use strategically between sub-levels to refill your life.
That end part sounds more like an venting from losing than a review. Those who did not work on their skils are the ones who lost because they did not get a chance to master positive persevearance from learninng how to play this game. So hard yet so fair, like that part of Gene finding those bad guys at his home.

Something that really annoys me is that most people seem to think that the only strategy in a beat-em-up is when to use quick and weak, or slow and heavy attacks. It's such a gross simplification.
+Mulgar H Agreed. it is such a pain in the ass when you find a beat-em-up that DOES have the basics, but there is such a depth to it that you can always find new ways to play, but all anyone ever says is "it's a button masher".
godhand, MGR, frigging Godzilla: DAMM and it's sequels, even Kinnikuman Generations on the Gamecube, which is a fighting game. All have been labeled with "button masher" because it contained in depth mechanics that enhanced the combat, but none of these reviewers had a clue as to what the game was about.

IGN reviews are SO BAD they are close to old Amiga Power reviews from the early 90's repeatedly giving RPG's bad scores because they were "an uneeded and archaic genre that developers should stop making and the few nerds that like them should stop buying. Play newer superior genres instead like adventure games!".
JonathonTheAsshole This is why I ignore ALL reviews and just ask other real human beings if they liked a game... or play the game for myself and formulate my own opinion.
Don't forget that IGN most certainly lets game devs "influence" the scores via their wallets (otherwise CoD would have no right getting 10/10 every fucking release).
