Talk title: Pirating Proteins to Attack the Surfaceome
Description: The cell-surface proteome, the “surfaceome”, is a major hub for cellular communication and a primary source of drug targets, both small molecules and biologics. Identifying how the surfaceome changes in cancer is a central challenge for identifying and targeting new disease-associated proteins.
We have engineered proteins and chemical tools for selective identification of proteins at the cell surface including disease-associated post-translational modifications. We have developed antibody selection schemes to target these bespoke neo-epitopes and shown them to have greater selectivity and safety for cancer cell killing. We have also produced new protein degraders, inspired by the intracellular targeted protein degradation (iTPD) field, for extracellular targeted protein degradation (eTPD).
