- In preparation for the NCCR private photographic event/tour taking part in July 2024 around the 18th and the 19th. The steam locomotive is being transferred to Bloemfontein on 22/06/24 for the event.
It was a successful transfer/test without any breakdowns! many props to the team that made it possible.... many thanks to @Steamnet2000!
according to my understanding this is the first 25NC Steam locomotive to operate in this line single headed without an assist of a diesel locomotive in 18 years! the last to operate here with their steam locomotive was @RovosRail1989
NB:please be aware that this is going to be a private event for tourists.
please excuse the "date" error on the video.

You got some great shots.
Makes me happy to see steam running again in this country.😊
i was a stoker fireman in the 60s if you made that much smoke you got fined .that is a awesome machine.in Durban we had the CBs.and Garretts.Durban /Empangeni was a trip to fire, the drivers did not play.
What a treat! Steam loco's are pretty much limited to museums and very short distance tours in North America. Good to see that some places still let them do some real work once in a while.
Yes sir 🇿🇦🙏🏿
Today there is almost nothing left😢😢😢😢
Well done Oscar!
Bit like Trigger's broom.
❤Beyond awesomeness lotsa memories
Oi I'm sizwe and in the beginning I heard you talking about something you applied for on transnet can you plz tell me about it coz I'm interested in this job so anything that can get me in I'll do it
Aai, waar is die dae van die Suidwester en Trans Karoo.

How fantastic to see this video... you're blessed to have seen this and we are blessed to being able to watch your video! She might not be looking quite so pristine at the moment, but she remains a beautiful piece of engineering and I cannot understand why anyone would not be fascinated by this! Thank you for your time and effort, much appreciated 🙂
Thank you very much. ❤🙏🏿
Steam up! Just love it- can feel the coal dust on my face!, Doreen
Excellent memories Thanks. So good to have a record of the day.
Thanks alot for posting this video, I've been waiting for it
It's a pleasure 🙏🏿🇿🇦❤️
Great video king
Nice to see steam returning to this line once more, eventually she got a good pace similar to when these 25NCs were regular power on this line.
The train was just a toy for her, she could manage 5 or 6 times as much loaded cement wagons, these wer empties I assume?
Haha - the greenies must be having a fit at the smoke billowing out of that old dame.
Nice clip, I’ve taken that route. Short train.Beautiful countryside. Is the Red Devil still running ?
Hi Andrew, I'm not sure .... But I do know it's staged somewhere in Cape town.
Very nice video. Brings back lots of memories. Wish I knew of this before. I live in Bloem walking distance from where the main line from Kimberley enters into Bloem. At least I could see it on your video. Continue with your good work.
Thank you very much 🙏🏿🇿🇦
Fantasties !
@@karllangner1579 thank you 🙏🏿🇿🇦
My Grandad was a driver on 3439 (according to my Mum). Michael Higgins Weitz. Everybody called him Mike. Operating out of Kimberley.
Thanks 🙏🙏👍👍
Such a pity that the people doing the recording cannot control their " raw" voice material , not very professional. Sounds very kallit.😁
I'm sorry brother 😂😂😂
Might be an idea to get a tripod
Thanks for this nice video I see there is quite few steam locos, staged at Bloemfontein depot
Yes sir 🙏🏿🇿🇦
There was a driver Odell on this Kimberly line 40 years ago! Could I be the same person?
One of your best King, keep it up!
Yes sir! It's the same old Peter O'Dell 😀❤️
@@EverythingTrains95 Wow! Thought he went to China!
@@rupertmcnaughtdavis3649 no, he still here with me
@@EverythingTrains95 Good to hear!
Been to South Africa a few times behind these 25s and Rhodesian garrets. But met Mr Odell a few years ago on a steam trip in Bulgaria and within a couple of days he was in the cab training the local guys as they weren’t working the locos hard enough
