- This year's grain harvest poses special challenges for everyone. The long and intense rain, hail and wind have badly affected the harvest in the region.
In addition, the soil is still soggy and the delayed harvest threatens the wheat to germinate and, in the worst case, can only be sold as fodder wheat.

OK, I'm impressed. Both with the machine and with the operator. I would never believed you could machine harvest wheat on that steep a hillside if it weren't for this video.

Sehr sehr starke Leistung. Ich bewundere euch echt. Ich habe zwar auch ein paar jahre erfahrung am hang aber das was ihr macht ist echt verrückt. Passt aauf euch auf!
Sicherheit geht immer vor, mit der richtigen Technik, der Erfahrung vom Fahrer und möglichst gute Bedingungen lassen auch solche Felder relativ gut bearbeiten 😃
Naja, wenn der Fahrer mal nicht Eisenbereift ist... gibt selbst unter den Drescherfahern nur ne handvoll die das so machen können.

Wow! I haven't seen a 4 way levelling combine harvester in decades! We used to farm wheat and barley in the hill country of Eastern Washington in the United States. My father had an International Harvester model 403 with a 4 way levelling system. The 403 was produced from 1968 to 1973 (if memory serves me) and then International produced the model 453 from about 1974 to 1976 or so. Those were the only 2 combine harvester models that we know of that were produced in the USA. I don't know of any other manufacturer who offered a 4 way levelling system. International designed these 4 way levelling combines for the Palouse region of Washington State. That area is a few miles to the south of our farm and there are very steep hillsides much like your field there. There was no great need for 4 wheel drive, though, because the ground is much drier there and traction isn't as difficult to maintain. This was just fascinating to watch! Thank you.
I didn't know this model yet, laverda has also built good threshers for mastering such inclines. There are currently also models from Class and John Deere, but with a technology that can no longer be repaired without a computer

Some say, the engine in the combine had to be swapped for a 22,000L, 11 cylinder Marine Engine used to normally power container ships, to be able to even move the drivers massive balls.

The pucker factor for most people has to be very high. Better not make a mistake, because it's a long way down. I'd have never believed anyone would grow and harvest wheat on a hillside that steep, but here it is. Very cool!

I drive big reds and would have never thought to see a header like this before. Incredible how fast farm machinery advanced in the last 100 years. From this to berry pickers, sprayers and spreaders. We have advanced as a race faster than we seem to think when it comes to technology and engineering for these applications. Aeroplanes are cool and all, but these things keep my belly full!. Cheers

Kann ich mir stundenlang anschauen das Video !!! Bei uns im Weserbergland machen sie schon einen Hermann mit Kettenlaufwerk wegen ein paar Hügeln etc. Das wäre für den Drescher und dem fähigen Fahrer etwas zum warm werden . Nur geil .......... !!

Double wheels on the side are not helpful, you have too much power and the wheel bolts can break.
Smal tires better, they grab into earth so not slide downhill

For hills the four way leveling is IDEAL...keeps the shoe/seives level and minimal over loading or sluffing. Also, the center of gravity is average maintained

I've got some hills but I take my hat off to you. Notice narrow head, grain bin situated fairly low, yield? How do you plant, fertilize and spray? Obviously couple spots not drained, do you install tile drainage. I installed tile on a slope where the tools on the floor of the dozer slid from one side to the other, just about my limit.

That’s amazing, though it looks very sketchy with the high centre of gravity! Have you heard of incidents where a combine like this has rolled over? Is there a reason for not starting at the top and working down? It seems like that would be easier for traction

In this country they used to start at the top and spin it around downhill with the Massey sidehill machines. They were only 2 wheel drive too.

Wenn man pflügt eher weniger aber wenn man grubbert dann schon. Wenn du zB eine glatte Oberfläche hast wie zB nach dem Eggen odern Grubbern dann könnte es schon sein dass es dir abfährt …. direkt nach dem anbauen ist es auch gefählich aber wenn es einmal angewachsen ist, denke ich mir weniger.

I just watched a video of a big tractor plowing with a 10 bottom rotating plow. They had a large steel ring with heavy iron grousers around it bolted to the rims. I could see that benefiting this operation alot!
Taking them off to switch fields might not be fun though

That would be great country for side hill goats and sheep, the ones with short legs on one side. I see that someone has suggested starting harvesting at the top of the hill and working downwards. That reminded me of the man who wanted to use a heavy roller on his hill field, he said he planned to work downhill and go back up idle.

Naja wer in solchen Lagen, die eigentlich nur für Grünland geeignet sind, nen Acker anlegt dem kann nicht mehr geholfen werden.
Bei uns knallen die mittlerweile sogar Mais auf solche Hänge und wundern sich nach ein paar Jahren das wegen der Erosion oben trotz massiven Gülleinsatz und Düngen nichts mehr wächst.🙈
Das mit der Maisernte möchte ich sehen - gibt`s die Hacker mittlerweile als Hanghacker... 👍 😆
@@BernerLandtechnik Das ist mitunter lustig anzusehen wie sie am Hang rumglitschen oder das gar günstige Gerät umschmeissen. Manche Helden säen den Mais deshalb längs statt quer und wundern sich wenn er nach Regenfällen im Straßengraben liegt. Mulchsaat scheint auch bei vielen noch ein Fremdwort zu sein.🤡

Yes, that is not standard here either. There are a handful of such missions and there aren't many operators who dare to do it.
