      @@bubblestheterrible i do keep an eye on fashion, but this trend madness has to slow down. The most wired and ugly stuff is served to us as cool. Garments which serve no purpose like the tiny tiny bags, trillions of heel shapes. Like one season they present as trendy 15 type of heels and next season some complete different 15 types. How can somebody even dare to state that round ballet flats are off? Ballet flats are and always will have a round toe. This is a classic shape that will never ever change. There are variations, ok, but the round ones are not out. I look into shops and some garments are just appalling. Who in their right mind really thinks the grandfather vest worn on skin is flattering? Who thinks blazers 5 times bigger than your size flatter any body. Rihanna went to Paris a few years ago wearing this gigantic 2 pieces suit. She met Brigitte Macron at the Elysee Palace. Let me tell you something: EVERYBODY laughed behind her back. She was just ridiculous. Fashion had become offensive to beauty itself. The human body has certain shapes and clothes need to respect proportions to 1 dress us, 2 flatter our shapes, 3 help us express our personalities. Designers of today seem to have one thing in mind: change fast the shapes and impose the constant need of being on trend. No, thank you. Most of the trends are just that.

    I just wear what I want, regardless of what other people think. I'm more of a t shirt and jeans kind of person though. I think trends are kind of ridiculous and are set to make people feel badly if they like something that is supposedly dated. Wear what you want and who cares what someone else thinks. If you can afford to only get shirts that have the knot in front, rock it, you wanna wear rounded toe shoes? Go for it. Life is a whole lot better when you don't give a shit what others think of your clothes(gives me highschool flashbacks) or other things

    Some things you mention bring back so many memories! I wore many of those things. Except the cold shoulders, I always disliked that for some reason.
    I love how you’re so careful with people’s feelings : “ If you love it, by all means wear it” On the one hand I’m thinking it’s a video about TRENDS, if you don’t want to hear some things you wear are out, just watch a cat video you’ll feel better! On the other hand, I think it’s good to acknowledge that just because it’s not on trend, doesn’t mean it’s not wearable. I think some things are classics, they don’t have to be trendy to be in, if that makes any sense… and if you know what works for you and what you truly love, good for you! You don’t have to be a fashion victim and throw away things that make you look your best just because. Rock what you love.

    I watched this video. Not really hoping or expecting much. However, it was actually really useful. It helped to clarify a few things. Not that wear these trends anymore, but it made me think what elements I want to retain for my personal style. I felt confident that actually I was already pretty up to date. Sometimes when we read magazines, They make you feel that you’re out of fashion in an attempt to make you buy more things. Which is a habit I’m trying to break, given climate change and all that. This video really clarified how popular day to day trends have evolved over the last five years. It was a good thing to check in with, there are a few styles I thought we’re going out of fashion that I can actually wear a bit longer so it was a very useful video.

    I agree with every point you made. However, I'm sad to see the longish tunic fall out of favor when paired with leggings. I know the trend today is for young women to wear short tops with their obscenely tight leggings, but it's not a good look, regardless of how toned your glutes are.

    I think the knotted shirt trend came from the “half-tuck” shirt. Then again, if you’re old enough, you’ll remember when you knotted your shirt with a big plastic ring thing! 🤣 Then, they were knotting their maxi skirts with that thing! Just popped in to see whats in, You can’t keep going with in and outs, you can go with your own style and comfort or you will be stuck with a closet of yearly toss it, you are all young, I’m 78 been through the fads and ins and outs days, my advise stop trying to fit in and find what you like and feel good in and wear it till it falls off your body. Keeping up you will go broke and guess what everything makes a come back. You may not realize now but you will some day. Now leggings, long tops, Ugg’s will do.

I asked one gal to show us her closet as she was filming every day. She didn’t. Those tiny bags are nuts, tie dye come back, wide leg and flares should have kept and mom jeans everyone hated. Aah to turn back time.

Totally agree with all your picks ....plus I am really over tie dye, animal print sweaters especially cardigans, skinny jeans but they do totally work in a boot, major ripped jeans like you were attacked by lions would that be shredded ...still love knees out or something a little more random or unexpected like the raw hem jeans and the belt bags slung across your shoulder. That pic you posted with the woman in the neon yellow sweatshirt nailed it with her total look....can you identify the bag and boots? That is a great street look. I would say that wearing pj's out shopping/in public as a general rule is dated... well, let's say pj's are a "timed" thing - as in, the time to wear pj's is anytime a person is at home and _not_ out in public. I know we like comfy and casual, but there is a line to be drawn between comfy and slovenly. Sorry, I just can't do it.
    The way to overcome and still get away with it? Jogging suits/separates. Those I'll condone (although, I still don't see me adapting them to my own lifestyle...) And only if they fit well and don't belong to your boyfriend...
    This was fun, Kim - thanks, eh! :) Shannon A.

    I watch these videos to see where I can make tweaks here and there. But the trends are just a way to get us to buy more. There has to be practicality too. I live in the Northeast and am always cold. I still wear long sweaters but avoid wearing them with riding boots now. Minor tweak that didn't really cost anything.

It is my specialty I will definitely do a video on how to update casual mom looks! Off the top of my head try grabbing a pair of chunky soul Chelsea boots, and an updated cardigan. I have a list in the description of this video, also check the list of cardigans.Thanks for the suggestion! Kim xo

I follow you but i am really angry to see stylists telling people that stuff it is off..NOTHING is off! Absolutely nothing. Change the attitude, shorten a hemline, etc etc etc and update looks by still loving your clothes. I agree that overconsumption is a huge problem but she doesn’t say to buy anything in this video. Nor did she say to ditch long cardigans, she just said, for example, pairing them with sneakers or loafers instead of high flat boots looks more current.

    • @anamariafloreaharrison3336
      @anamariafloreaharrison3336 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@bubblestheterrible She did say to wear a cropped cardigan in maybe a vibrant colour. Cropped stuff will disappear in a minute because... well... it is cropped and doesn't cover much of our skin. I am a cardigan lover, of any length to be honest. But by no means a long cardigan with jeans and boots are outdated or will be any time soon. It is a classic. I love fashion, but i 100% disapprove of the trend mania. Slow down people. Slow down. Fashion was changing every decade, not every week. So a big NO to this kind of videos.

    Super helpful video, and good reminders to restyle pieces that you have and love in more up to date ways. But I am confused that you mentioned knee high riding boots as being not on trend. Did you mean a specific type? I have literally heard them mentioned as being hugely on trend this autumn/winter. And I have always thought they were classic, but I know a few years ago thigh high boots and ankle booties were more popular and riding boots were harder to find in the more trendy brands. But now I see them all over.

    • @KimXO
      @KimXO  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It’s not that actual riding boots are out of trend (I think they are a classic staple and most likely always will be) it’s how you style them! There was a trend wearing them with a long sweater, angled hemline shirt and boots. It’s just dated. If you pair them with a more current look they work. That said, obviously the winner of the boot trend right now is the chunky sole and the Chelsea boot :)
