I have a long running, multi campaign hag character that constantly shows up and "helps" the parties.

I think Baba Yaga is an ancient remnant of a prehistoric Deity. She's the malevolent side of motherhood and the dark Earth (related to/ or similar to the Indian goddess Kali). And probably played a bigger role in the lives of proto Indoeuropeans.
She was probably a revenant or vengeful goddess. And probably had multiple faces.

There would certainly be precedent for that. If you look at the way the Church incorporated bits of existing faiths into their teachings in places like Ireland (in the 3rd and 4th century C.E.)and Mexico (16th and 17th century). Not to mention the way they used the Norse people's own beliefs to convince many of them that Ragnarok had already happened and now it was time to embrace the new god (early to mid medieval period).
I could see a nature goddess slowly getting reframed as a witch who should be avoided and feared. Would also explain why occasionally she had benign qualities and was even sometimes helpful..
Cool idea if nothing else 👍

Well if it was not for your first 500, I would never be at almost 25k and growing... and I simply cannot thank and the other 499 enough.
That said, I have not forgotten about you first 500... and while my list is not complete, I have many of you noted and I will have an announcement later this month on a token of my appreciation you won't want to miss, so keep an eye out for that!

If anyone is looking for more hag content/ideas I'd really recommend the 2e Van Richten's Guide to Hags. It has a lot of cool ideas for using hags in darker, more Gothic style campaigns.
It was made for Ravenloft (real old school Ravenloft so it WILL include some darker content, just FYI) but it could be used for all sorts of campaigns, as long as the group is ok with some horror elements.
Its got some game mechanics but a lot of it is roleplaying and thematic info. Honestly the 2E Van Richten's guides were all pretty good.

Let's not forget Hags are finds of Hades and can ought to have all the Feindish powers to summon other lesser finds, certain resistances bonuses and other traits of feindom, etc. I suspect we who roll 2e are inclined to take that as writ, but maybe what's writ has been re written in new versions.

Great story. The Blood hag reminds me of a story I once read online.
A meeting of a familiar face in a town, a gift to said friendly lady, and finally...
the twist: The faceless remains of the lady found in her own house.
A successful deception that serves as an introduction to an evil force.

Maybe a wizard sage where the party gets their potions in between adventures.
You keep receiving this message, but only when in town, via whispering wind.... "Bomarc, I'm in trouble. Meet me in my shop, the Tiny Tincture Supply." Every night, one hour before low noon. But only while in town.... You get there but she doesn't recognize you. And she should. You've shared more than just sales.

@@RichesandLiches I have GM’d with my group for 5-6 years, and while one doesn’t like Call of Cthulhu, he is more than happy to have been cursed with Armor that looked way too good to be true.
Sometime players don’t like mechanics (I.e. sanity from Co) as it’s a grindstone making their beloved characters wither away instead of getting stronger with each level. They want to be superheroes. But if you don’t use it, or use a mechanic like corruption similar to what Matt Mercer has done (where spending time near evil or unholy places or things they have to make a saving throw against corruption which gets harder the more corruption You have and your proximity to it, and recedes as you get away from the evil). I found it online looking for corruption rules.
P.s. the armor my PC is wearing starts awesome, and then slowly becomes the bane of his existence but he can’t tell as he’s cursed to never want it out of his sight. 😬
