My uncle Had 2 Dairy Farms out Tigari on the way out towards Marrawah and most of my mothers side of the family was around near irish town ,Alcomie and Forest. My great Aunt She had a place just out of Wynyard near flowersdale i think if memory serves me correct, her property wa well know for her ferns out the front of her house , it was kinda weird when we called in and all the tourists and holiday makers would pull up taking photo of these ferns that she dressed up as kylie minogue and jason donovan from neighbours and other characters. but not may would be aloud to see what was inside the house. there was wall to wall of salt and pepper shakers from everywhere you could imagine as well as those souvineir spoons . i still have family in Smithton but most are now passed on or they haved moved to Burnie or Devonport. We would always do a trip down to Arthurs River where my Aunty had a shack and thats all it was back then a shack and we would hit the beaches on barmy tassie day . Marrawah is known for it surf beach
I can remember years ago now about 1992 Smithton copped a beating from a Tornado which ripped across the land which brought a bit of Disaster to the area
but hey great part of the world

Tanks so much for sharing all those wonderful memories and information about the area .. I also had a family member who had a lot of salt and pepper, shakers and my mother-in-law, collects the spoons. It is a really pretty part of Tasmanian so different from other areas I hadn’t heard about the tornado ! Thank goodness we don’t get many of those !
