The lass - the family having buried their daughter/sister, now only to be told the head is not your sister - funeral home mix up?! May they both RIP. Thanks for this Ron x

I was 8yo when Mary Jane died, a sad story. i remember my first love Annette when she was 17 and i was around the same age, we were planning to marry, sadly her father had other ideas and when i went abroad with my Battalion, i received a 'Dear John", letter. Whoever did this awful thing might be alive but they probably will never say anything. If only someone could have heard from the criminal themselves. Like maybe talking about it when they were drunk.. IDK 😐

Stories like this remind us how random life is. Oh, if she had left 10 minutes later, she wouldn't have had an accident, or even poor Mary Jane and her date. If they had gone out the next night perhaps the perpetrator wouldn't have been there to kill them. That's why we should see each day as a gift and enjoy our loved ones to the fullest. Its amazing to me how many murders go unsolved even to this day. Im sure some of them are done by murderers who get caught in other crimes but there has to be a number of them where the person actually gets away with murder and who knows how many people have interacted with that murderer including their own family who've never had a clue what they have done

I was hoping this would be a case that got solved through DNA. It’s interesting that the brother would’ve wanted a sketch of Mary Jane upon exhumation. I wonder if there had been rumors that it wasn’t his sister in the grave and the sheriff wouldn’t (understandably so) apply for exhumation without something to corroborate the rumor and justify the retrieval. The killer/s might not answer for these atrocious murders in terms of man’s law, but I firmly believe he will face judgment one day.

Poor girl was not only murdered, but unsolved and body isn’t really at rest. And very true about not forgetting the smell of death. Years ago during end of summer, my kid was with me on a walk and he was little at the time, we passed over the river which barely running through at that point but I could smell strong odor. I didn’t want to go looking since he was with me, got home but got side tracked dealing with dad duties. Couple of days later, a body was found of a drowning victim maybe 100 feet from the bridge we had crossed.

I read about this case several years ago. It was quite a story. When she was exhumed in 2005, I recall reading that the dress she was originally going to wear in her brother’s wedding that became what was supposed to be her burial clothing was found stuffed between her casket and the burial vault. I mean, what...?
I think it was sometime in the last ten years that a nephew of Stanley Skridla, upon finding out about what was NOT found in Mary Jane Reed’s casket, petitioned the court to have his uncle exhumed as well. The...missing part...was not in Skridla’s casket, either.
I don’t think it will ever be known for sure who killed these two. Or maybe just not officially known. Like with anything else, there are a lot of theories and rumors about it. Sad that these two never got the chance to see if they might have become a couple. Just ordinary people-until they weren’t.
It makes no sense why someone would have wanted them dead. As long as the killer or killers remain unknown, it never will.

That is very suspicious about the dress! Makes me wonder was her murderer looming around the cemetery and disturbed her casket/vault before they lowered it into the ground or before they covered it over with dirt.
I say this because I attended a funeral and nobody stayed for the casket to be lowered into the ground/vault. I did. But nobody else did. And then the grounds were closing so I couldn't stay for the actual burial and they were going to bury another before they did that burial since the other burial, the family and friends were normal and stayed for the entire burial. Unlike the funeral I was attending where everyone left before the body was lowered. So, unattended and left vulnerable, anyone could easily mess around with the casket, body, vault. I wanted to see he was properly buried but couldn't because the cemetery was closing (5 PM). Was the body safely buried? No idea. I hope so. But I worry about such things because I know there are a lot of crazies out there who do weird stuff.
So see, what if her casket or vault were left unattended and her dress was taken off and she was desecrated and her dress stuffed between the casket and vault.

Should be allowed to have these positions. Two scenes where the criminal left a abundant amount of evidence. That could still exist from a properly processed crime seen. I've been to Daysville cemetery a few times. Know of the Reed story. There was a tavern/ restaurant on the outside of Oregon that was named the Roadhouse that had a connection and I believe there was some memorobila there that connected with the events as well. Its been a few years since I was there, however, very mysterious situation for sure.

@@katrinakeogh2032 Yes, there is a WOW factor there for sure. I have my own wow story. In 1986 I was 11 years old and on my grandfathers farm we had a shooting range. I shot a gun that was later used in a double murder in Belvidere Illinois in 1986 at a restaurant named the Golden Corral at the time. My grandfather was a good friend to this man, and I remember he brought two revolvers to the farm for target practice. It was then I was allowed to shoot the gun only one time with the six rounds in the chamber. The man's wife was mentally impaired and used the two guns in a double homicide there only a short time later. It would go without saying that me and my grandfather were beyond shocked when we were informed of the occurance. It is a very indescribable feeling to know that I had shot a gun used in a double homicide later. I still have a little trouble just knowing that to this day. Thank you to whoever reads my story.

Too bad you couldnt come to my town in AB Canada there is an old children's cemetery that had most of the bodies moved to the town cemetery but they left the plague victims there at the old one. The area fell into disrepair and that allowed a pine/ spruce forest to grow thickly around it. The place is absolutely dark and unmarked just a small trail marks the area off the road across a broken barb wire fence. Some of the graves have white picket fences around them. It's very spooky.

Thanks Ron for sharing this sad story.
Like you said this case will
Probably never be solved. DNA would be a good start but I have a feeling any evidence from that case is already long gone.
They were probably followed from one of the taverns they went to and killed. She was probably raped before being killed.
The killer is most likely dead already.
It’s a shame. Young couple that would have been probably married early 1950’s and then had kids who would be in their late 60’s to 70’s now with kids and grandkids of their own.
    Very sad.
    RIP 🙏
