Hello I have a question about the denominator of hospital data I dont understand why we can't determine population at risk As I can till from the hospital documents where the patients were born and where they live . Thank you

Acc. to definition "The population at risk is the population that is exposed to the occurrence of a vital event" But we believe that population at risk is a dynamic quantity which cannot depend on a nearly static data such as hospital data. Though you consider the hospital data as updated we could not say that all the cases have been reported ,esp. in developing and underdeveloped countries. And epidemic outbreaks are most often unpredictable which have the potential to rewrite hospital data massively. Hence it is usually not advisable to depend on hospital data for population at risk. Though it seems to be comprehensive, it is considered as our final choice. HOPE OUR ANSWER IS FOUND USEFUL!
