For anyone wondering, those fish were more than likely female pearl gourami: very pretty and not all that aggressive so good community, but they can get to 5 inches and need to be in a group of at least 4, so they need a lot of space, 30 gallons minimum for 4-5 gourami, and they do best in planted tanks.

Barnaby: I love your approach to finding what is best. You had a whole idea in your head, you built it but it didn't give you what you wanted, but adding the magnets allowed you to get around the limitations in the system and produce a puppet inside viscous liquid. I love that you didn't just show us the amazing end-product, but all of the designs and decisions along the way that led you to something that at first wasn't perfect... then you figured out a way around your original designs to get what you wanted. That's how great scientists think. You are incredibly creative in your approach to achieving the results you want and I love that you share that with your audience rather than just uploading the perfect end-product, without all of the failures. It's very important that people can have a window into a creative mind to be inspired, to see how you changed directions and vision, but accomplished something better than what was planned and ultimately actually simpler. That is great for young, creative minds to understand that process and that the perfection you ultimately achieved wasn't the first result even with all of your many years of experience. Thank you for sharing the journey, you are helping to inspire so many others, including many outside of the puppet realm.

I love how alien the final product looks. The fact that the puppet looks like a newly discovered deep sea organism doing its own thing seems almost mezmerizing. The amount of bubbles were perfect and really set in the " abyss of the ocean "' kind of look. The light angles, the darkness that strays away from the light, the " alien" itself, and the music all worked together so well. I truly cannot get over it!

One way to get rid of the bubbles would be to attach the filled container to a vaccuum pump... assuming it could handle the pressures... but it's something to think about. Would get out all the bubbles faster.

It's nice to know that one of my favourite fish (the gourami) inspired some surprisingly creative puppetry

That's terrific! Buoyancy is tricky. Your little aquatic creature is nice too. I've made some jellyfish that sit in jars looking pretty great except motionless but in a container/device like that they could come to such life.
