I heard fruit tree from five leaves left early in the 70’s when I was a DJ in college
I was stunned at the beauty and sheer inventiveness of the guitar playing

Nick was lucky to have such supportive parents!
Im currently reading Remembered For A While. Excellent insights into Nick Drake.
Some sweet and not so sweet memories and opinions on Nick!
    I love his music.
    R.I.P NICK
Hope you're now flying free of sadness and pain.

Nick’s musical style seems very much like his mum’s from the little bit that I have seen of them both. There’s something very fragile and vulnerable about them both; their music is beautiful, but sad. 😮 As another famous songwriter once said; “Behind every beautiful thing there has been some kind of pain” ... I think that I would have to agree.

That was Bob Dylan you were referring to I think it went behind every beautiful face there has been some kind of pain.

@@Now7518 Yes, it’s Bob Dylan; I’m a lifelong fan. Though no, it’s correct. It’s verse two, line two in the official lyrics. I would post them, but seeing as TH-cam are being petty about links it’s pointless because my reply will be deleted *~way to go TH-cam, you superstars -* nevertheless, I have implied the information for you and it can be checked.

As a depression sufferer and a musician myself, I feel a lot like Nick in the "I have failed at everything I have attempted to succeed at."
Show business really is a cut-down industry and the perfect conditions and connections are the only thing that leads to major success. Nick made very good ones, but ones that in the end were not nearly good enough.
