I'll admit Im not prepared for life without Cam. He's been my favorite Steeler forever now and I really hope this injury-cursed season wont be his last. I think he's still got good football in him, he just needs to heal up.

As soon as I wake up it’s the first thing I listen to.
Cam said on his podcast that he’s still dealing with that groin injury. His words “I still have a broken groin” and he said he’s def not retiring after this season
“I have a broken groin” said the only person to sack Joe Flacco in 3 different decades. “When I die, bury me in between snaps”, he continued.
He’s going to have to take a pay cut because that’s already on the table.
He might have to finish his career elsewhere.
Glad to hear that Cam has at least one more season under his belt.

Unless we make a playoff run I do hope Cam comes back for 1 more season. I’d love to see him win a championship kinda like Jerome got on his way out. As unlikely as that is I just don’t want this injury riddled season to be his last. Regardless Cam is a super hero, a hell of a man, and if this is it I wish him all the best. It’s hard to feel bad for a multi millionaire, but I’d just like to see him go out on a better season if we don’t make a run this year.

Cam's the leader in and out of the locker room. But unfortunately, I think you're right about his likely retirement. The Steelers have a way of finding those kind of high skill/high morals type of individuals. They have one in their new starting QB as well. Regardless of what everyone thinks of Tomlin, this is a real credit to him in selecting and encouraging these men.

DK do the Steelers keep Rowe At strong safety with Kazee back? Man I hope so! Rowe and Minkah would be an elite tandem!
Hopefuly they rotate Kazee in for 3 safety sets in place of the standard nickel defense they run. Gabe Davis is banged up and Buffalo has been playing a ton of 2 TE sets with Knox & Kincaid which is a nice matchup for the Steelers. Peterson might move back to outside corner in place of Levi Wallace. Its going to be a very good matchup in favor of the Black&Gold which is very convenient considering our lack of ILB depth/talent
Cam Heyward does so many things on and off the field, DK. He deserves the very best recognition. The Walter Payton NFL Man of the year should be the award he receives. As a player when he retires he will be greatly missed. He is so much more than just a player. I'm ready for the game DK. Here we go !!!! Steelers!!!!! Thanks DK, Great show

I love your broadcasts. You have a real insight into Pittsburgh sports. Here's my thoughts on Cam. We, with Rudolph, have a Super Bowl contender, right now. I'm not being over-optimistic, but truthfully, we have a 100% healthy offense. They pretty much sat the bench for 2/3 of the season behind KP and Trubisky watching Cam and the rest of the defense get pounded game after game. They were basically one QB away from a Super Bowl contender. They have him now. (if he signs with us).
So that being said, Cam knows this may be a Super Bowl run going into next season. This might just be his Super Bowl. He's going to go into the off season and go balls out, getting into shape for one last run. Think about it. A Super Bowl win playing on a team with his brother? It just doesn't get any better than that. If the Steelers weren't heading for the SB, yeah, this probably would be his last season. But, we have a shot, and there's an outside chance we do it this season. That's what keeps that man going.
Glad somebody brought this topic up. Joe Greene had a arm or shoulder injury that never healed. He was never the same player. I think Cam has that same type of injury. Last player that dealt with an injury on the DL was Alualu. He never made it back. He is not starter material anymore. Steelers ought to let him come back for one more year and in this draft prioritize a DL. Problem is the further we go in the playoffs the more guys we could have used will be off the board. Two positions that are a sweet spot for late 1st are Center and DL. I would go DL in Rd 1. Then go center and then find a way to trade up in Rd2 to get your other OT. There should be 3 guys on that board still late in the 2nd. After that all of your very good OTs for either RT or LT will be gone.
Need middle linebacker. If a strong QB drops they need to take a long look and correct the mistake they made with Pickett.

@@bobcatk6027 Also ILB is not a priority. Only way it would be considered one is if Holcomb can't come back. Im not sure on his health progression. Im not saying that the position doesn't need a young kid to train, but Im not burning a top pick with Moore, Cole, and Chuks being on this roster. Then we have Dylan Cook and Spencer Anderson who neither impress me. As bad as those three are the guys behind them are worse. Not to mention Heyward who may never return to form. In my mind we have two major disappoints that need to be replaced. Loudermilk and Leal. Because right now we only got 2 guys on the DL that scares anybody and thats Keanu and Larry. Cam isnt scaring people anymore. We really need 2 more DLs.
Let’s face it DK, we all thought by choosing to stream we thought we were getting away from paying for what we don’t watch, and now we are just paying for 5-7 different stream sources and now we just watch a couple shows on each and hope above all to hopefully see our game. Here’s to hoping the NFL will do what the MLB does.
And hopefully (a lot of “hopes” here 😂) we have a win tomorrow. I believe if we can beat the Bills, that we have a good chance of handling the Ratbirds. From there anything is possible with that kind of momentum. We are the Dark Horse and I like it. Be safe and try to stay warm!
DK are you not worried about the wind? the snow doesn't bother me as much as the wind.
Cam is a class act and you hit the nail on the head, he's really a throwback to my generation of the Steel curtain with Casey Hampton, Aaron Smith, Diesel...the greatest D line in Pittsburgh since the glory days of the 70s. He embodies what it means to be a Steeler and when he does decide to hang them up, it will be a very sad day. I just hope that before he goes he instills all that is "Big Cam" into the heir apparent Keanu Benton.
He’s openly admitted on his podcast recently about the nagging groin injury. He mentioned it’s a little tough with a “broken groin” as he called it. I think with an offseason to heal he can play decently for another year- if he so chooses.
DK. You should really check out the great British baking show lol. As a die hard pittsburgher born And raised I really recommend it !
Cam is a trouper he’s just an incredible player so if it his last game best of luck in all his future endeavors big respect for him and his team

The defense has been so banged up this year because before Mason, they were always out on the field. Cam should be MOTY. He will always be in the hearts of #SteelerNation❤❤❤

DK I saw a comment where someone said Mason never had to deal with Canada like Kenny Wasnt Canada hired as a QB coach in 2020 then became the OC coach. Well I think Mason has dealt with him the whole time.
Hey DK I saw Heyward's podcast like 2 days ago and he was pissed that they were asking him if it was possibly his last game. He said he wants to play one more year.
Ever since he came back our run defense has been way way better. I can’t complain

Let’s be real about blizzards DK. I know you like to keep brushing off the idea that it matters (I think specifically in context to how it affects the game) but for real a lot of people died in Buffalo last winter when they had a big blizzard like this. Glad to see a state of emergency called, I was worried about ~70k people traveling in that tomorrow

NFL broadcasting is so frustrating. If you don’t live in the city of your team, it’s basically a crap shoot if you will be able to watch your team or not. I live in the Philadelphia area and am sick and tired of not being able to see every Steelers game. It is WAY past time for the NFL to offer single team packages!!

Has anyone noticed how the Patriots and the Seahawks have made drastic changes to their organizations? They have decided to stop living in the past and look forward.
Has anyone noticed the Seahawks and Patriots aren't in the playoffs? Seahawks coach was a defensive coach, the Seahawks ranked 28th in defense. The Patriots had a terrible offense...the Steelers had a Matt Canada. Tomlin took a team with Mason Rudolph and having Matt Canada for over half a season and made the playoffs. He doesn't have a top 3 pick like Bill does with a similar team. Tomlin's defense doesn't rank bottom of the league like Pete Carrol.
@@zacheryzimmerman5468 - Tomlin is too slow to react--don't praise him for taking Mason and Canada lead teams to the playoffs, acknowledge that Canada was a poor choice to begin with (not getting hired without Tomlin's endorsement), waited too long into his time to get rid of him and should've had Mason ahead of Mitch... even as QB3, he took too long to make the switch from Mitch. All of that and still needed the Titans to get the upset over the Jags.
This is nothing new--riding with Green at center for 15 weeks when a better choice in JC was there the whole time--playing Dotson on the left side instead of the right side--Minkah playing in the box rather than roaming and ballhawking--Jones being the best tackle and only became a starter because of Chuks getting benched for criticizing Canada.
Lastly, Tomlin's defense is star driven over being based in scheme and preparedness which is highlighted by how nearly every opponent scored on their 1st, 2nd or both possessions this season.
@mike2687 lol you got your views, I got mine. You can judge him for that and look at all negative aspects. Most of it, you're right. You're giving him no credit at all for getting this team to the playoffs. Is it Tomlin's fault that Mason Rudolph didn't outperform Mitch Trubisky in practice and the preseason? Is it Tomlin's decision to sign Trubisky to an extension? Rudolph should have "won" the job..he didn't. Owners paid Trubisky the money to be a backup, so he was a backup. I'm glad you bring up how the defense allows a score on the first two possessions. So coaching adjustments play no part in being the team that allows the fewest pts in the 4th quarter in the league. The "star players" don't play the first two drives at all apparently. I'm surprised you don't like Tomlin at all. Look in the mirror. You're TH-cam comments about a mediocre coach are almost as consistent as he is. Keep trying, you might be successful eventually.

Random bad teams win all the time in the NFL. Also, do you have any experience with coaching football or coaching in general? Mitch Trubisky won the back up job in the preseason and at practice. Mason Rudolph didn't perform enough to win the back up job. Now during the NFL season, how many reps at practice do you think the 3rd string players get at practice? None. Rudolph didn't play at this level. Just because he is playing this hot now doesn't mean he always had. 31 other teams and coaches thought the same thing.

Disagree DK just from the point watching him and listing to Can on his pod cast seems like he will be back another year or two. He has talked about Steelers drafting a replacement and D line but I think outside of an injury that might lower his play I believe at least another year. But who Am I you are right their covering him with great honest insight and I'm a schmuck with a phone.

I do not care about the weather. Pittsburgh and Buffalo usually have at least one or two bad storms a year. It's not as if the players have not played in crappy weather before!

If Cam decides to retire, I doubt anyone will hold it against him. He’s a proven warrior in the trenches and well respected for many years now. He’s the last man standing among all the great veterans we once had and we’ll miss em if he chooses to hang up the cleats.
Much like Sid. He and Cam are 2 of the all-time greats from a human perspective in addition to their playing credentials.
