Kiwami reminded me just how convoluted the story for the very-first Yakuza game was (esp. the "inserting Chinese triads into the story at the last minute and then never hearing from them again after 1 roadside battle" nonsense) heh
Your review made me consider buying this game. As a RPG fan, I love to explore games and to do side-quests, although being honest, the side activities of this game don't seem to be that interesting(karaoke, bowling?). However, the story seems to be pretty good, but I'm not going to buy a game only for the story. So, should I buy this?
BigHouse The story of this game will get you hooked up. There are many side missions here that will interest you. Karaoke at bowling are side missions for tou to complete but it is more of a mini game so I will bot consider it boring it is your opinion. You may do it or not do it. They gave Kazuma a lot of new moves here. Controls now are better and in combat compared to the 2005 Yakuza. Graphics is breath taking if you can set the graphics to its limits if you are using the right hardware. Ohhh I am using a high end laptop. A lot of things will interest you here its up to you which aide mission will be your favorite. 0 is not the best game its 6 the best of all. Do not believe the reviews that under rate 6. 0 for me is the third best game. Fans just rate 0 the best because you can play as Goro. If you like Yakuza being able to play more characters in the story you play 4. Yakuza 5 is the second best game to me tied with kiwami and kiwami 2. Better to play the Yakuza games in order of its release date this is my recommendation it is up to you if you like to follow. Play The original Yakuza 2005 and Yakuza 2 2006 in emulator PCSX2 or buy the game and console then play Yakuza 3 to 5 in PS3 then play kiwami and kiwami 2 on pc or ps4 then 0 and 6 on pc or ps4. Last play the spin offs dead souls kenzan ishin then Judge.
Hahaha, I wouldn't go as far as outright dissing them, but it certainly is a fresh experience for side-quests to just happen to you at random as you go about your business.

Yakuza 0 made me realize what I was missing in this series. I bought Kiwami 1 and 2 so far as a result. I played the Club czar minigame a lot.
They did a great job remaking this.Can't remember what mini games the original had but it didn't have Mesu King and pocket racer.

Start with Yakuza 0, it's just a better game overall, but Yakuza is DEFINITELY worth getting into if you're a JRPG fan. :)
