Clean build! Pretty sure you should tighten the stem adapter top cap bolt before the stem bolts on the steerer, to make sure the stem is seated all the way down :)
Good job! Well cared for even in the details. I seem to see me when they bring me bikes that have been thrown away in the courtyard for years and I completely renew them. Unlike, however, I rigorously put the loose spheres, I take photos of the original writings of the bicycle and reproduce them and reapply them so that these details are not lost (a detail I care about very much). But out of these differences you have made a masterpiece I love it even in the details. I also like the geometry of this frame ❤ (too bad it's not disc brakes)
Nice… but will the rust not come back if you leave him there before repaint job? I always thought it has to be completed removed so that it will come through the new paint.
I have a collection of old bikes, I restore them all myself, they are bikes that are decades old, I always remove all the old paint with paste remover so I don't excessively scratch the frame with a sander. Then I do an anticorrosive treatment on the frame before the new painting. Only when the old paint is well anchored and without traces of corrosion, I don't think it's necessary to remove all the old material.
I ride a GaryFIsher Genesis that looks a lot like this. I kept the old derailleur but it's blue with the drop bars and brown seats/tires. Dash Bicycle in Providence did it up for me.
Veeery nice build, but i ask myself... what is the point about a single speed gravel bike? Like, wouldn't it it make sense to have some gears, or would you also ride a Mtb without gears?
I’m enjoying the bike so far th-cam.com/users/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA My only real complaints are the brakes and the pedals. I feel like a bike designed for bigger people should have much larger pedals and more heavy duty brakes. I’ve only gotten two really good rides out of it, minimal downhill action, and the brakes feel like they’re already going out. A larger person has more momentum, so I think this wasn’t thought through very well. Also, I wear size 13-14 wide shoes. My feet cramp up on these pedals that are clearly made for smaller feet. Since I’m not a pro rider (and I don’t think many are who purchase this bike) I don’t think that the straps on the pedal are necessary at all. None of this takes away from the enjoyment I get from riding, however. I’ll just head to a bike shop to improve on a few things.
Nice. But I still can't understand people riding gravels. And the single speed one - for God's sake, not at all. Lack of comfort, spine aches, ass made to suffer.
Nice build! 80s and 90s MTBs deserve some love and respect. Just wondering if you have any build details to share? I really like the paint that you used. Reminds me of the color of the race car that Mauri Rose won the 1947 and 1948 Indy 500 with. What paint is that? Also wondering what handlebar that is? What rims and tires did you install?
I am digging this video so much. A classy ss build for a rusty old bike that surely was destined for a landfill. Excellent job. Also you found the right balance of including the right parts to shoot and edit and efficiently condensing several days/weeks of build labor in a tidy runtime. Great work!
Absolutely the best way to make money on restoring old bikes is to make YT videos. Because even if you could sell the bike later, it's nothing compared to the monetization of the work. And the bike will not sell anyway.
it's ok, vintage Marin mtb frames are very good, only one detail, you should put some sort of shield between the frame and a grass when paint it and hope you were wearing a mask
Bel lavoro!
Was wondering the same. I bet so the wheel can set as far back in the "horizontal" drops as possible and you dont have to worry about coming out of tension.. Cause with QR they will. Bolt on they will but just slower. So seating the wheel as far back in the drops as possible and adding a cool purple tension-er you dont have much worry.. Was thinking of doing the exact same thing cause with horizontals it either comes out of tension or starts to vear to a braking side.
Very nice job you did. Please do not confuse restore with rebuild. The automobile fanatics at Pebble Beach would make it very clear what the difference is. Once again, nice rebuild with modifications.
"WD 40 the movie"
Hahahahahahahaa
Good save! Makin' something out of what's considered junk. Good on ya!
Thanks man 🙌
Clean build! Pretty sure you should tighten the stem adapter top cap bolt before the stem bolts on the steerer, to make sure the stem is seated all the way down :)
A quil stem doesnt pre load the head set bearings. so it doesnt matter what order its done in

I thought so too

Once over dust, twice over rust
Painting that frame in that state without taking the rust off was a crime against humanity

I love your style!!👍🏿
Awesome video!!💪🏿

some people do, and its cheap.
Do those road brake levers work well with the v-brakes?
Lo dudo mucho, jaja. A ti y a mí no nos engaña con sus trucos, jiji
@@mosquitotigre7078 😂
It looks like you didn't mask the bottom bracket threads while spraying, sick vid so far though :)
6:55 Is the centerline new or just restored ? Thanks
Greate job btw 😅 ✋
A gorgeous build! That paint is so niceeee and pairs very well with the tan tires and purple chainring! Great editing on the video too!
Thank you 😁
У меня тоже Marin, muirwoods.
Nice restoration although I'm under the impression that it has a bend front fork.
Keep the crispy paint job but put clearcoat
I think could be better with shifting. Still, awesome bike.
What brand is the bar
tape ? Looks nice 👌
Excelente saludos 👌
Thank you 🙏

wow amazing

It’s not a restoration but a cool project never the less 👍🏼 Nice saddle as well, it probably doubled the value of the bike 😁👍🏼
What kind of profit do you make on these restorations?
Orang indo ternyata ,bang pake frame size 17 bukan? Kalo iya pengen coba tiruin 🤪🙏
Iya om size 17 🙂
Super wow nice job💯💯💯💯💯
Yes indeed 💯 💯💯💯🔥🔥👍
Aro 26 ou 700?

@@RustBucket_ thank you bro!

he should of put the marin brand on it
torque on some parts seems very low
Ukuran BB-nya kira2 berapa mm, bang? Saya lagi bangun sepeda 26 utk single speed juga

Bannya pakai apa ya?
Fake Marin? Did someone just put Marin stickers on something else? 🤔
damn thats fucking cool

era una Marin!!!!!!
That's actually horrible sanding. Rust will come again and your paint job will be destroyed. And what's the point of 1 speed?
mali ata pag higpit sa headset😂

2:30 Bruh, respect the torx driver! You need to find yourself a set of real punches.
I'm curious about the brake levers.
Did they work well with v brakes?
What's the brand and model?
Looks like Aliexpress ones tbh
ceazy .. Frankenstein
Tektro also makes long pull drop bar levers RL520.
There is a ton of rust remaining beneath that paint 😂😂😂😂

Abraços do Brasil! 🇧🇷
The wd he put, is unexpected
I would personnally prefere that you keeped the cantilever brake, but it's mostly my hate of V-Brake talking here hahahaahhaah

Did you stay with 26" tires or got to 700?

Not bad.
Nice bar tape !
Peak r/Xbiking
Nice color!
good job
What’s the point of having the tensioner on a single speed?
Its 26 inc?
Really lovely rebuild. Could you link the parts used in the description? Would like to do a restoration similar to this
Great build. It's hard to tell. Is that 700c or 26?
26
Nice Restauration...but who needs a Single speed Gravelbike 🤔🤷🏻♂️?
Single Speed Gravel Restoration or how to use all the old parts you have lying around on one bike build.
Nice build! What is the best single speed gear combination for a 26 inch wheel?
What tyres are they and single speed set up with that dueralliar where did you get the dueralia
Great build .. but why a chain tensioner when the frame has verdict drops??

Very good restoration workmanship and a well detailed video.
May I ask what respray machine you use as I would like to get one
Tell me your wheels size?
26 x 1.75
no chain tensioner needed, horizontal drops 🤪
Is that a 26er? If yes then I should try it with my bike too hahaha
Fantastic video - what is that bartape? ✌️
Very nice job you did. Please do not confuse restore with rebuild. The automobile fanatics at Pebble Beach would make it very clear what the difference is. Once again, nice rebuild with modifications.
