- Suspension Bridge Loop, Hunua Ranges
July is the middle of winter in Auckland and is the time when Phillip has a two week school holiday break. We went to the Hunua ranges regional park and walked through Suspension Bridge Loop which takes one and a half hours from start to finish. This track starts with a suspension bridge which is made out of wood and there can only be 3 people on top of the bridge at same time for safety concerns. Before you enter the bridge make sure you use station to clean your shoes in order to prevent the Kauri Dieback disease from spreading to the native trees.

Start at the suspension bridge over the Wairoa Stream near the car park on the Wairoa Reservoir Access Road (off Moumoukai Road). The walk takes you through lush vegetation, climbing to a spectacular lookout platform above the Wairoa Reservoir. "

Third take is the charm. Looks like a fantastic view from up there even if it's mostly trees. I love how the trees surround the bridge the forest looks beautiful. The view is very cool. Thumbs up Philip x

It was real nice hiking with you. I like the bridge best, the Look Out is blocked a bit by the trees. The trails are great too, and you had the whole place to yourself!! Also liked the re-takes! Enjoy the rest of your vacation!!
