Between this and your weekend prep video am living for these throwback videos! I am a 29 year old new mum from Australia and have watched you for years. Watching your videos while cooking (and washing bottles these days) has remained part of my routine and totally keeps me sane!
A couple of years ago my daughter just started putting the groceries away. I think she started because I was super stressed because we had just moved, I had a long term ankle injury, then 3 weeks later lockdown happened. Anyway, she's really good at it and now says it's her job. She likes to call it refrigerator tetris. If she's at work when I go shopping and don't put everything away the way she likes it she gets frustrated. So I try my best to put things away the way she has organized the fridge.
I also plan a night where I don’t have to cook, usually Sunday. I work on Sunday and so I buy something from our “bistro” dept. Usually either chicken wings or fried chicken or ribs or soup. Their ribs can’t be beat. Everyone in the house likes them. I just bring home some Cole slaw or potato salad with it and we have a meal. It makes my life easier.
Hi - another great video. Every time I hear you shopping at Hy-Vee I want to mention about a book I have. I received it from a past tenant called, “Prairie Kitchen Sampler” ... a fun trip through decades of cooking. An oldie, and a treasure. The author E. Mae Hendrickson also wrote, “The Family of Hy-Vee” - history of Hy-Vee food Stores. I’ve owned this book a dozen years, I only learned about your local store through you however. I live in Canada. Always nice to see convenience foods and food for meals which is usually our groceries. Yes it's only my hubby and I but we both suffer from health issues.
Good grocery haul and meal plan! And same here when I bring one of my kids with me. But sometimes I like it too because they see something that they like and it gives me some ideas for the next while when they don't come with me of things they like/want. Have a great week Jen! 🥰
My youngest loves the Cliff bars. We make Monday night pizza might usually because I have to work late. Unless we have it on the weekends too sometimes. It's a big help especially after I've worked and I don't get home till 7 or after. Loved the haul. Have a good week Jen.
We always eat out on Tuesday. Our local restaurant does a deal, soup or salad, 2 entrees and a bottle of wine for $39.99. Sunday is always meatballs and pasta. Just have to fill in the rest of the week. Learning to love my meal plan book.

I find that I need to plan for leftover nights every week on my meal plan. We usually do it on Thursdays. That’s the point in the week the dishes start to get really backed up and the leftovers need to be used up.
When I was a kid, once a week my mom would have what she called a “pick up supper”- she warmed all the leftovers and we finished them up. I thought it was so fun.

( I got these chips for our french onion soup) lol 😂 I like them with dip myself, omg I couldn’t stop laughing 😂. Grocery shopping with kids is always more costly but I know I used to love going shopping with my mom. She was great anytime we wanted she bought I think because it wasn’t all junk that I would want. My son didn’t go grocery shopping very much and if he did he would maybe get one thing, which frustrated me to no end lol 😂. I just wanted him to get things he liked or wanted to try but I guess I got what he liked lol 😂. He has never been one for junk he likes chips and cookies but not often. I was shocked to see how much the deli meat was per pound! I usually shop Walmart’s deli and I think it’s cheaper. I try to make my own lunchables, it seemed to be more cost effective but maybe it’s not now, I’ll have to see if the prices increased at Walmart next time I go. Love you’re videos, always giving me ideas 😊
It’s where she shops. Dilusso meat at hyvee is crazy expensive like everything else there. I am a personal shopper there and it’s crazy how expensive groceries are there. Even there deals aren’t great “deals” because they will still be cheaper at Walmart/Aldi. In the quad cities milk is over five dollars, but you can go across the street and get milk for two dollars at Aldi 🤷♀️ Even with my employee discount I still don’t do my primary shopping there.

I mean no harm at all, but my dietitian told that those cliff bars are absolutely awful for us. I use to eat them for breakfast and she said they are basically poison and filled with nothing but sugar, carbs and bad ingredients. I know its hard to always look at ingredients especially with a busy schedule but I just thought I'd relay that information to you, even though they are delicious!
Jen just put away everything that needs to go in the fridge everything else will still be there until you get to it nobody will bother it believe me I know Love your videos
