      Mark Fixes Stuff thanks for that info! Just today, I took out my Lynx2 that’s been stored safely and has worked great. I accidentally plugged the power ac plug into the headphone jack! When I went to install into the correct power port, and hit the power button, the screen displayed Insert Card, when I reinstalled the game card the game & sounds were functional, but the screen started fading out to a plain light gray blank screen! I also noticed the brightness dial wouldn’t make it bright or dim anymore. However if I hit the backlight button, the screen went off to black as it always has. So, after multiple times on and off, the screen is lit blank light gray & the sounds of the game is functional even the all the control buttons. So, could it be just the lcd? Because I can hear the game sounds and control button commands. The only thing I do remember from other times in the past when the Lynx was working, the screen always had a bright white horizontal line appear as the unit was powering on and then everything was fine. Question to ask, have you ever seen this bright horizontal flash line during powering up the Lynx2? Or was that start up horizontal flash line just an pre indication that my lcd screen was on it’s end of it,s life? Maybe the BennVenn would do the trick?

    • @MarkFixesStuff
      @MarkFixesStuff  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      To me it sounds like a dead screen and perhaps an issue in the the power generation circuit. The power generation components are known for going pop. It certainly doesn’t sound terminal for the Lynx. Have you tried batteries btw? I would suspect the same but if it behaves differently it can provide a clue to the location of the problem.

    Great video. Could you give a feedback after testing it with normal alkaline batteries?
    I for example having issues with them. When I use the power adapter it works flawless, but with batteries there are tiny graphic errors popping up quickly.
    Measuring with the voltmeter I get 4.92V on both (power supply and batteries). The Lynx is 5V modded, too. Don’t know what causes this problem, BennVenn said I should change the mosfet and zender Diode and capacitors, but the Lynx didn’t have any problems before the BennVenn mod.

    • @MarkFixesStuff
      @MarkFixesStuff  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have tested it extensively for hours with a 9v PSU, a 12v PSU (unregulated) and Alkaline batteries (CPC Farnell's own "Pro-Elec" brand) and no problems here.

    Ok got a strange one for you as googling this doesnt bring up anything close to what i need to find out (you will understand why in a moment)
    Purchased the BennVenn mod, installed ok with everything working as it should, got the lovely LCD image on screen, wanted to do the scan line mod, some how i soldered the brightness point on the board in the wrong location (well i assume i did, square below where it states BRIGHTNESS on the LCD board), and then pin 8 on the front panel cable slot on the main board.
    Put it all back together, no power, took it apart, made sure all connectors were correct, tried again, still no power, by passed the 9v power on circuit using an old USB cable, plugged it into a power bank, and have power everything works, apart from the front buttons. this is a board issue not flex cable / plug issue, as i have tried the screen in a different board, and get power (no back light) a controls back.
    Is there anything that can be replaced board side to get the buttons working again?
