  • This is seriously soooooo impossible without a crank puller.
Need a crank puller? Here you go: amzn.to/2ljYdIT
Recorded on 2/15/2016 to top off an "epic" day of making video after video after video.

    THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS!
I've been trying to figure out what tool I needed for my brothers old Raleigh, finally sorted out that it was a cotterless crank but it wasn't until this video that I actually saw a cotterless crank with guts that matched mine. I'll pick up one of these tools on amazon now.

Well Explained and thank you much for the video. Couldn't find a single video on TH-cam entailing that dust cap in this video.

Thanks for this. Fixing up an old roady and hadn't seen those little nuts in the cranks before. Used the crank puller after that, as normal.

I have a mountain bike, I used a low quality tool to try to pull off the crank to address a bottom bracket creak. I screwed it in to the full depth but the threads of the tool were too poorly machined and it stripped the threads when I tried to pull it. I tried a gear puller. That didn't work. It's only a 2 year old bike but that crank was on there stupid tight. I forgot I'd removed the bolt and went biking really hard the next day. The crank fell off after one mile

"Does happen to be threaded...deliberate course of action" I thought that was really funny for some reason

First, thank you for the video. Next, looking at your crank got me in the creative mood today... Ive been wanting to step into a custom length crank... I'm 6-7 riding a XXL trek frame.. But to get my angles right.. The seat is way go high for my headset... So I thought about buying longer cranks.. Well, I'm not able to come to grips with 500+$ cranks.. So back to the point of your cranks... They look like box wrenches..🤔 I wonder if I could use some snap on wrenches that match 195-200mm length.. Where I can thread the ends to match my crank bolt and pedal bolts... Just some way out there thoughts... If I do this, I'll post up.

I have an old Nishiki Sport with an ever so slightly bent front gear. Thanks for the video explaining how to remove the old one, but I'm wondering about finding and selecting a replacement. Would I likely have to replace the spindle, too?

My crank's been threaded. How can I rethread it so that I can use my crank puller?

Mallet will work to get the cranks out too in case you don't have a crank puller

You have to turn it the other way to loosen it. So to the right.

You didn't show how to remove crank arm. You showed how to remove crank arm and chain rings. I just want to replace crank arm. Only.
