From what I understand, Tekken 8 is the first game that allows you to do the flash kick without having to hold down while in full crouch to charge like you used to in Tekken 7 making it way more viable because you can do qcf/qcb, df, ki charge for easy access. I believe Paul is trying to imitate law but is unable to do a complete version of it. Paul also receives damage when he hits the floor after doing the incomplete somersault kick because there's a hitbox on the way down as he lands on you so it's technically a two-hitting move.
