@@marvincorre4783 good question, this movie isn’t exactly for kids, it’s really more of an adult film with many elements fit for grown ups, sure it is a cartoon but it has jumpscares, suggestive music, innuendos, and several more things. I guess that one scene just isn’t as inappropriate as a real one since the characters are cartoon mice. But with humans, omg it’s completely different.
The "Let Me Be Good To You" segment was almost cut because though brief, the lyrics and some animation was considered "too risqué" for a Disney animated family film, the animators avoided a PG rating and got the scene kept in by appealing to the censors on the grounds that the segment was a Caberet song and harmless in lyrics, and because the character animated singing it was a mouse, not a human and thus not questionable.
When I was a kid, the adult innuendos went completely over my head. I just figured they were dancers. I don't like that people nowadays think they have to censor everything, because children simply don't even understand any of the "sexy" references until a certain age. Same goes for smoking and some degree of violence, this stuff is a part of reality and I don't see why kids should be sheltered from these aspects of life. I'm really glad I grew up on this movie! :D And as an adult I appreciate it even more, because I can laugh at some of the risky stuff and discover humor where I didn't use to see it as a child.

I even dressed up as Basil for Halloween when I was seven years old (2003, I lived in Pittsburgh at the time and it snowed that night, believe it or not). Most people probably thought I was Sherlock Holmes, whom Basil is based on, but I was too young to know at the time. Haha.
I think that's the brilliance of these films, kids can watch them and innuendo like this goes way over their head until they're older, and adults can watch them and have a laugh at the "risky stuff in a kid's movie".

Not a kids' movie. A family film. Animation was not originally aimed at children and not every movie that you especially people to be bringing their kids to see is aimed specifically at children. There was a time where movies were just movies regardless of whether it was animated or live action and regardless of the style.
Her American accent makes it more of a shame they couldn't work a sequel or work her into the plot of this movie to being Irene Adler. I know she was an actress in an actual theatre rather than a showgirl in a seedy bar but could still work - a "times got tough, this was the only job available on short notice". Them meeting backstage, her telling him what she knows, demonstrates her brain power, could either be genuinely trying to help, or having to go along with Ratigan, maybe lends a helping hand later on, Basil being the last one in the place to fall for her charms because of her brains rather than her outfit, her at least genuinely hoping they may see each other again.
Well the beers have been drugged has basil pointed out but Dawson didn't listen what he said or let him finish his sentence because he quickly emptying his glass of beer.
Honestly I think that one of the things I kind of love about this movie is that as much as it’s a Disney movie, there are elements that feel evocative of non-Disney cartoons: facial expressions and intense animation out of Bob Clampett, gritty locales akin to Ralph Bakshi, and this scene which feels like Tex Avery’s Red Hot Riding Hood.
Oh yes, this is DEFINITELY something you'd find in a Disney film directed by Ron Clements and John Musker (not unlike in their "Aladdin," "Hercules" and "The Princess and the Frog.")

3:17 This is why I never drink beer, wine, or any other alcohol beverages. The first time I tasted beer it not only smelled funny/weird; it was awful, it tasted too sour and too bitter. How can anyone stand that stuff. Plus I don't want to feel tipsy or even drunk. I prefer soft drinks such as soda (sprite is my favorite), lemonade (including ones in different flavors) or even carbonated flavored water. Just so you all know, I learned back in middle school to avoid both drinking and smoking and it has become a healthy habit for me even though I am an adult and old enough to drink.

I don’t like the unevenness in parts of my generation in that we claim to be so progressive regarding sex positivity in multiple areas, but then will be sheepishly prudish about any sexualization of any character, as if sexuality were some dirty thing never to be allowed in public. The fact that in the past women were treated unequally or as sex objects in media doesn’t mean every single “sexy” character is a problematic tool of the patriarchy. And as an extension, sexuality is beautiful, and should be appreciated as part of a wide spectrum of what women in media can be. This has been my TED Talk, thank you.

80s movies did have of an edge, but Disney actually did have trouble getting this past censors for being too risqué for a G rated film. They justified it as the women being mice, not human, so it's not questionable. Though I think everybody had a lot of questions when this scene came on.

I remember my teacher putting this on on 6th Grade in 2003. Even then I thought it was uncomfortable and inappropriate. But she was kinda that way too. Looking at it now, it looks like an Adult cartoon. Plain and simple. Not X rated or anything. Just adult. They're drinking drugged beer and watching a strip show. Typical disney.
I wouldn’t call it a strip club because it doesn’t look like any nudity gets involved (did actual strip clubs even exist during this time?) and the dancers just wear skimpy outfits. IMO this is more burlesque like .

3:17 This is why I never drink beer, wine, or any other alcohol beverages. The first time I tasted beer it not only smelled funny/weird; it was awful, it tasted too sour and too bitter. How can anyone stand that stuff. Plus I don't want to feel tipsy or even drunk. I prefer soft drinks such as soda (sprite is my favorite), lemonade (including ones in different flavors) or even carbonated flavored water. Just so you all know, I learned back in middle school to avoid both drinking and smoking and it has become a healthy habit for me even though I am an adult and old enough to drink.

5 of my friends were killed by driving drunk and doing other dumb things while drunk and I’m never EVER taking that risk.

Well I’ll give you this. I don’t like the unevenness in parts of my generation in that we claim to be so progressive regarding sex positivity in multiple areas, but then will be sheepishly prudish about any sexualization of any character, as if sexuality were some dirty thing never to be allowed in public. The fact that in the past women were treated unequally or as sex objects in media doesn’t mean every single “sexy” character is a problematic tool of the patriarchy. And as an extension, sexuality is beautiful, and should be appreciated as part of a wide spectrum of what women in media can be.

80s movies did have of an edge, but Disney actually did have trouble getting this past censors for being too risqué for a G rated film. They justified it as the women being mice, not human, so it's not questionable. Though I think everybody had a lot of questions when this scene came on.

3:17 this is one of the reasons why I don't drink whiskey at all and any beer in afternoon expect on my days off if i go out somewhere and here some true stories 1st i had whiskey was at my sister's party i took a sip and taste awful and 2nd was on Thanksgiving i got so tried when i was getting my food i had to drink some coffee to sober up then when i went to a birthday party order a beer got tried i had to order a coffee and when i ordered a cotton candy martini at tgi fridays and did not feel tried i had some water after that

I remember my teacher putting this on on 6th Grade in 2003. Even then I thought it was uncomfortable and inappropriate. But she was kinda that way too.
Looking at it now, it looks like an Adult cartoon. Plain and simple. Not X rated or anything. Just adult. They're drinking drugged beer and watching a strip show. Typical disney.
I wouldn’t call it a strip club because it doesn’t look like any nudity gets involved (did actual strip clubs even exist during this time?) and the dancers just wear skimpy outfits.
