    Thanks everyone for 900,000 subscribers, you all rock! The GT8 is just about ready now for collection but one of the final tasks is the trip to Topaz to prepare it and install Paint Protection Film. I can predict the "Why do you detail a new car?" questions and the answer is because you effectively 'lock down' the paintwork under the PPF so it's best for both appearance and the installation process to make it as perfect as possible beforehand. Not only that, you can really make it look that extra bit more special and Topaz do a wonderful job of this.

    Are the brake calipers different orange than the accents on the splitter and the side skirt?

    • @Shmee150
      @Shmee150  8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Yes, I'm surprised more people haven't noticed.

    • @sushitrash-yq7mk
      @sushitrash-yq7mk 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I also noticed that

    • @naturesdefiante01
      @naturesdefiante01 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I noticed when you was touring the factory but put it down to being different types of paint because its brakes thus youll never get the same shade. Also the ppf makes the colour look deeper so always a plus!

    • @EarlLeeBird
      @EarlLeeBird 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      This was already seen when the car was assembled in the Aston Martin factory. I think the reason behind is that the caliper color is from Brembo color options and the car color accents are from Aston Martin color options. Bear in mind that Brembo suggest not to re-paint brake calipers even if they are brand new.

  • @DrivingDerby
    @DrivingDerby 8 ปีที่แล้ว +18

    Tim I have a question.. why do they snow foam and wash and dry the car after the detail? Surely the work put in to removing all the "ever so minor things" is completely undone when the car is dried again? It will surely add more minor marks in this process? Anyway great video

    • @Shmee150
      @Shmee150  8 ปีที่แล้ว +43

      The reason is to wash out all the residue from the polishing compound that fills the panel gaps; you need to get rid of it else it will cause issues under the film. Very specific microfibre towels are used for drying that minimise the scratching as much as possible.

    • @My3251
      @My3251 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      i agree with Driving Derby. im a car detailer myself. and i can say washing the car after being detailed is ridiculously stupid. washing= scratching the car again. they could have just used a special degreaser.
      anyway they got a nice result so well done!

    • @Talon276
      @Talon276 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Well if there's nothing on the paint work which there wouldn't be after a detail and snow foam there's nothing to cause damage to the paint work. Paint get scratched from dirt which is on the surface so if there is no dirt or debris then the paint won't get scratched or swirled.

    • @cls63amgwagon34
      @cls63amgwagon34 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Driving Derby most likely they used compressed air, or heated blower

    • @Doggepp
      @Doggepp 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      You have to take into consideration that for the PPF to stick the best it can, you need to remove absolutely every single speck of polishin residue etc. I am pretty sure Topaz knows what they're doing.

    Im personally quite obsessed when it comes to detailing a car. I've done it for...maybe 4 years now and i just love it. Last car i made was my own, 7,5h later the paint was perfect and when you see that shine when you take the car outside. It's really kinda therapeutic to do :) Wish i would own more than 1 car to detail though.
    Ps. GT8 looks awesome ! I could watch these kind of videos everyday !
