  • To celebrate National Poetry Month and Earth Day in April, Head of Primary School Katie Knuppel asked students to write a thought or phrase about why they care for the earth. Students also drew pictures to illustrate those ideas. Inspired by “Today, I Am A Witness to Change,” a crowdsourced poem created by Kwame Alexander, Katie used phrases from every class’s work to create a crowdsourced Primary School Earth Day poem. “The children’s ideas were like puzzle pieces,” says Katie, “and it was fun to sort them out and put them together creatively.”
Katie recorded Primary School students reading the poem and used their illustrations to accompany the writing. The finished video is a beautiful expression of the Primary School students’ passion for the earth.
