    Good job,,, I prepare sewing machines to sew leather and sell them,,, but with vintage-style flowers I think nobody would buy them. But I repeat, good work. Greetings from Spain

    I love how you paint the machines and decorate with the water slide decals. I finished my 1910 Red Eye today. She’s not as pretty - basically cleaned her on the outside and cleaned the majority of her working parts. No too much polishing though I may redo a few pieces. I building an age appropriate treadle cabinet. All the wood is drying. The iron base is out for sandblasting. I hope to put her completely together this weekend. Mine had a motor put on her later - somewhere in the 20’s based on the dates. I have an age appropriate light on the way. Can’t wait to try her out. Maybe someday I will strip her back down and follow your example! Thank you for demonstrating your creativity!

    Your machines are glorious! I've recently started repairing my own but haven't had the guts to completely strip one down (paint and all) yet. ♥

    So pretty! ❤ You certainly have quite a bit going on with all those machines. 😊
    Your chickens sound like they’re having an exciting day.😂

    I LOVE IT! p.s.... I know your husband made the box is there a lid??? I am actually looking to repair or rework an old box that is sturdy but does not latch properly and id like to be able to carry it by the handle.

      Thanks! She now belongs to an Amish lady ☺️ the bases are all he's making, no lids so far. Still learning about the whole wood working thing here 😁 thanks for watching!

    Nice work Marie. She looks lovely. I’m still just learning much but I’m afraid to take my Eva apart completely as I’m not confident on putting her back together. I also need some better tools but I’m not sure what they are either. I see now that the red felt is not another piece of lint to remove but actually I need to replace it. Where do you get those pieces? Also there is a rubber wheel on the bobbin winder and are those easily found. Could you make a video of the little tools you use and what they are called so that I will know what to buy? I’ve got a screw that will not move so I can’t get the bobbin winder off. Unfortunately the head of the screw is soft and I’ve chewed it up but still it won’t move. Lots of degreaser and oil but have not tried heat yet as I don’t have flame . Any suggestions on a heating tool? I guess I just have many questions and I know you are busy, so whatever advice you have for me I’d be most appreciative. Thanks Alfa

      Hi Alpha, you're at the frustrating stage, it gets better. So the screwdrivers I have are the Chapman tools vintage sewing machine kit. You have to go in their website to get it. It's a little pricey but they work well. They also have a little ratchet included which really helps for leverage. The thing with these screwdrivers is that they're made to have the tips break off the bits before you strip your screws, which comes in very handy. I have a 66 that I use for parts. I have an extra screw then I can send you, and also I need a bar with a side clamp if you want it. They're whole lot easier to find attachments for. If you're interested message me on Facebook. For the little piece of felt, I just cut up a piece of felt for my stash in the sewing room and use that. And I can also send you a wheel for your popping winder. You've been such a faithful viewer for so long I really appreciate you on both of my channels. At this stage, you decide if you really like it and you want to dive in and do more and more of it. But you'll really decide once this first machine is done. Is for the screwdrivers, I love them. And they come in very handy on all kinds of things. So even if you don't use them for more sewing machines you can use them for other household projects. Thanks

    I love mine...thank you. How do you know what the tension is on the top knob?

    Have you ever managed to part with one of your repainted machines? You must get so attached to them. ❤

      I have sold a few, there's so many more available, the ones that I am very sentimentally attached to for family reasons etc are not for sale. But I just can't keep them all. It's like fostering rescue dogs.

    Have you ever run across a singer 66 where the stitch length regulator (that sits above the copper emblem) is stuck tight? I can't get mine to move.

      Yes! What I did is get a big screwdriver and the bolt under the balance wheel needs to be loosened just a bit. Then you should be good.

    What do you use to clean the tiny parts?

    • @prometheansewingmachines
      @prometheansewingmachines  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I use combination of gojo hand cleaner, a wire wheel on my Dremel, and some good pliers to hold them. Good luck!

    Why painted over the machine serial number? 😅

      😁 I know you can't see in the video, but the numbers are legible through the paint. 😁
