    We've got to get away fro doing one arm rows in this manner.
    Having one leg on the knee and one on the ground is totally unbalanced and puts stress right in the groin. Increasing chances of hernia.
    Try straddling a bench in tripod stance, stronger, more balanced and safer.

    • @MarkWildman
      @MarkWildman  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i don't disagree. but you notice im not using an actual bench right? im using mats that are 24 inches wide.

  • @roryyoung4844
    @roryyoung4844 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey mark - there may not be a straight answer for this....but what would you recommend more for training progression, buying a second kettlebell of the same weight (2 x 24kg) or buying another kettlebell of an increased weight so 1 x 24kg and 1 x 32 kg? Thanks! Love the videos.

    • @TheSwayzeTrain
      @TheSwayzeTrain 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you go back through his channel you'll find a video about selecting KB weights.
      Long story short, he recommends having 3 weights. Jumping up in 4kg increments. So if you have a 24kg and that's light for your fundamental KB exercises, then you would ideally have a 28kg and 32kg too. So you have weights you can progress to.

      Weight used also depends on specific exercise, your age and fitness level. In some of the programming videos, Mark also recommends doing a heavy version and and light version of the same exercise during the programmed week. So that could mean 24kg snatches on Tuesday, and 16kg snatches on Thursday, for example. He says you make better progress that way.
      He also consistently says for lighter weights, more time under tension or more reps have a similar training effect.

    Hey Mark! Do you change styles to target different performance aspects? What are your thoughts on sticking with hard style technique over sport style on a day for focusing more on speed and power instead of endurance? Do you think that's a good strategy in programming? I've never found a kettlebell coach who incorporates both types of breathing and technique.

    • @MarkWildman
      @MarkWildman  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i do both. hard style is simpler and faster to teach. i only teach soft style after i teach clubs. usually i use kb as hard and club as soft, but eventually people get to soft kb

    Hi Mark I'm just wondering, what is your opinion on long-distance carries with a kettlebell, such as a suitcase carry? Do you think they have a decent functional benefit?

    • @MarkWildman
      @MarkWildman  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      sure. but i put them way way lower on the scale of importance to clean and press or snatch. they are fun. but they are hard for most people to do because most people are limited on space. but i do love throwing them into Metcon training.

    Can I use rows to replace pull ups if I don't have a pull up bar?

    • @TheSwayzeTrain
      @TheSwayzeTrain 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rows are a horizontal movement, pull ups are vertical movement. You don't precisely hit the lats in the same way with each movement. You could swap rows for pull ups but it would also be like replacing a KB press (vertical) with a KB chest press (horizontal).
