Little Rock, Arkansas - On May 20, 2023, at 3:21 p.m. Arkansas State Police Trooper Jackson Shumate initiated a traffic stop on a black GMC Sierra, at US Highway 67 South at the 3 mile marker along with Trooper T. Van Schoyck and Trooper A. Escamilla. The vehicle was known to be driven by 42-year-old Christopher Monroe. Arkansas State Police said before this chase, Monroe was already wanted for drug traffic charges out of Sherwood, Arkansas. On May 4th, 2023 he fled from ASP before doing the same on the 19th. Ten days prior, police in Rockwell County, Texas put out a warrant for his arrest for evading in a motor vehicle.
Police attempted to box him in, bur failed and the chase was on. At one point early in the interaction Trooper T. Van Schoyck attempts to PIT the vehicle but ends up failing and sliding into a concrete barrier instead. Despite that failure to stop the vehicle, the police continue to chase Monroe as speeds climb. Monroe and the police cars following him cross over the Arkansas River going around 120 mph (193 km/h). Monroe then turns around and makes it only a few blocks before being hit from behind by police, which causes him to roll his truck. The GMC eventually hits a brick wall and comes to a stop on its wheels.
Because of how forceful the crash is, the police car itself almost flips. Later, Monroe is removed from the car by police who had surrounded it. Police found 64 grams of ecstasy, 100 grams of meth, 436 grams of cocaine, 89 grams of fentanyl pills, 182 grams of marijuana, 12 grams of heroin, and 46 grams of Xanax. Along with a Taurus handgun and numerous drug paraphernalia, Monroe also had $8,612 in cash in the car. He was charged with trafficking fentanyl and cocaine, possession of narcotics and methamphetamine with intent to deliver, felony fleeing, simultaneous possession of drugs and a firearm, aggravated assault of law enforcement and criminal mischief.

Reckless maneuvering. Officer let his adrenaline and ego determine his actions. Officer was fully blind the entire time he was riding the back of the truck during final PIT. Could have killed pedestrians or caused a horrific head on crash, etc.

So you support the freedom to do whatever you want because it's your choice? Might as well get rid of all laws. Hell, by your false equivalence, the fleeing criminal was just expressing his inalienable right to speed down the highway.
Listen, I'm a supporter of letting people do what they want to themselves, drugs or whatever. But you know this guy's product was ultimately going to end up in the hands of some youth who's being told that the drugs aren't dangerous, likely by people they trust.
The destruction from drugs often preys on people's ignorance of what's really happening to them. Selling them illegally usually means also throwing out the window any consideration or warning for the end user. Pushers and often dealers tell you anything if they can sell product. Dude in question was involved in that, it's a safe bet those drugs weren't going to users who were knowledgeable of the subject and wouldn't end up hurting far more than just themselves from doing those drugs.
How to better handle drugs, both legally and culturally, is a different topic entirely.
TL;DR: your point is ignorant and you should rethink it entirely.
@@insoporous9978 "So you support the freedom to do whatever you want because it's your choice? "
Yes, of course? Don't you? As long as you're not actively hurting others, have a blast. Drugs, guns, booze, tanks, hookers. Do whatever you want. Ideally not all of those at once, but hey. No victim, no crime.
"Might as well get rid of all laws."
95% of the laws on the books should go for sure.
"Hell, by your false equivalence, the fleeing criminal was just expressing his inalienable right to speed down the highway."
No, he was fleeing state sponsored violence.
"Listen, I'm a supporter of letting people do what they want to themselves, drugs or whatever."
Then why are we talking? It's tyranny, or liberty. There's no gray area.
"But you know this guy's product was ultimately going to end up in the hands of some youth who's being told that the drugs aren't dangerous, likely by people they trust."
Sounds like a pre-crime level hypothetical to me. Since none of this can be proven to have happened, it's a moot point.
"The destruction from drugs often preys on people's ignorance of what's really happening to them."
Not my problem.
"Selling them illegally usually means also throwing out the window any consideration or warning for the end user."
No one said freedom was safe. It's not.
"Pushers and often dealers tell you anything if they can sell product."
Ahh, so you have no clue what you're talking about, cool. No, that's not how it works at all. They don't have to lie or have a sales pitch, the product sells itself. There's an old Bill Hicks bit "Ever done drugs? Ever seen them advertised? Yeah..."
"Dude in question was involved in that, it's a safe bet those drugs weren't going to users who were knowledgeable of the subject and wouldn't end up hurting far more than just themselves from doing those drugs."
Again, freedom isn't safe. Accept the risks, or leave. Now, you catch him actually selling that shit to kids? I'd be fine with the cops just shooting him on the spot honestly. That's not a victimless crime, but you have to be able to prove he was doing that first.
"How to better handle drugs, both legally and culturally, is a different topic entirely."
It's simple. I already solved it. It's a personal choice issue. That's it, end of discussion.
"TL;DR: your point is ignorant and you should rethink it entirely."
No, you're just brainwashed into thinking government should have any say over your personal life what-so-ever and that there's a such thing as laws meant to protect you.
I assure you that no such law, at least as we understand the concept today, exists... OK, maybe 5% of all of them are moral and pragmatic. The rest exist only to oppress you and limit your autonomy.
All laws are illegal. It just restricts people's freedoms. As long as people are not harming others. Then we should all be left alone. These vermin terrorists were speeding at 120 trying to catch a person who they could have arrested at his home. Instead of them making him speed. It's a fking shame that they never crashed and went through the wind screen. FTP and all those who support them

If you're Canadian, how are the US cops keeping you safe? Unless you live there. It's true they do a great job. Unfortunately, most of their work is for nothing as judges let them out the next day with a slap on the wrist and the cycle begins again. Kind of like the Canadian juvenile system. Totally useless. And some of the violence in the US is starting to rub off on Canadians and that is not good.
@Yosetime A slap on the wrist? We have over 20% of the world's population of incarcerated people. I'll tell you the US has nowhere near 20% of the total world population. We have the second highest incarceration rate in the world, and the countries above and below us on that ranking have such small populations that the use of crime statistics start to break down. @@BiIlDipperIy it always seems the people with the most expensive cars are the worst drivers.
I respect this officer's ingenuity. I was a pursuit officer for IL State in the 90's. And we used more tactics than just the PIT to disable a vehicle. This is the first officer I have seen in 25 years that used something other than the PIT, and was only concerned with ending it quickly. He used a technique that I used often on trucks. Using raw HP to raise up the rear end so the suspect vehicle loses traction. No one knows how to do that anymore. A pickup truck is front heavy, so it's incredibly easy to do. But today's cops only know the PIT (and they hesitate too much in doing it too). Sad.
Maybe. But that cop almost flipped himself while doing it. So perhaps they shouldn't do it that way if they can avoid it. Too risky. Don't want to lose a great cop like that.
It was extremely risky to perform that tactic in this case. He could not see infront of him at all and could have pushed that suv right ontop of a bystander or passing car. Its effective but far away from safe inside a residential area or even a lightly populated area. Still a great job from the officer tho
Are they not worried about doing that in a neighborhood where there is more potential pedestrians and other motorists are? Seemed like a very unsafe place to do a maneuver like that.
that's not actually what happened, the pickup got hooked onto the front of the police car. If you play it slow you can see that the trucks bumper doesn't slide away from the front of the cop car at all even when the tires are screaching. Just pushing up under the rear of the truck would have had it sliding around on the hood of the cruiser. That was a solid lock and I doubt it was completely intentional.
@@ItIsJustKetchup so let the speeding truck pass hundreds more potential victims? Every intersection he's risking so many lives.

They crossed the line, and this is the sort of thing that gets perps like this huge settlements. Good cops would have done everything they did up until they pulled him out of the truck. Good cops would have restrained him, rendered aid and not moved him until EMS arrived. I have a lot of respect for LE but when they act like this, I have no respect for or regard. To say that "The longer it takes, the worse it's going to be..." is correct. However, the worse it's going to should be done in a court of law. low IQ and low self-control in Arkansas. That was not a pit maneuver. He rammed the car to a dramatic collision and a few bystanders were lucky to be unharmed. The perp deserved it, but our streets don't need that level of amateur behavior. They then shouted profanities and showed how emotionally unhinged they were while performing the arrest. Did you want the cop to offer the driver some ointment for his legs? Sit down and have a cup of coffee with him after the crash and aks "heeeey... something seems a little off, can I get you anything? Want some cookies and maybe some sodee pop?"
No, the threat is stopped - next they must detain/contain him, and then the perp gets handed off to licensed and insured medical personel for evaluation and triage, before the cops shift to doing evidence colelction interviews and reports. So long as he's not obivously bleeding out, the cops just need to ensure the suspect gets to the next person in the chain of custody in the same condition they found him. Interesting fact: That truck is a 2019-2022 GMC Sierra Denali. From the factory that truck is limited to 105 MPH, yet the officer states speeds were 115. Also that truck has a 6.2 liter V8, a premium for the Denali edition. This is why the officers are having a hard time keeping up while accelerating. New trucks are fast AF.
