Hello mate . I’ve noticed my sliding door handle feels rather wobbly at both ends . It works fine just doesnt feel to solid . Plenty of play . Certainly when comparing it to the front door handles . Any ideas? Cheers
Hi thank you for your question the hand is held in by the lock. You could take the panel of and make sure the Mechanism is not lose these is held by three bolts. Or open the sliding door look on the edge you will see a star bolt removed it then pull the lock out bt the handle Wayne when the lock is removed slide the handle forward then removed it inspect to see if it is worn Neil
Hi there ive tried to tighten the little lock screw release to much and its threaded tightens but not tight tight ,if that makes sense ,can the screw be replaced ,thank you graham, or has it threaded the mech ?
I'm trying to replace the door handle and carrier which sits behind the blavk mechanism. I have removed the door handle and blank from the exterior along with the screw here. I have taken the 3 bolts out from the back, have unclipped the two plastic bits which hold the two parts together and have pulled ghe mechamism away from the rod but can't seem to get the mechanism out so I can get to the one behind it. Any tips? Thanks
Hi have you removed the door lock from the out side. You have to undo the bolt in side the door first then go outside and pull the lock out this go's all the way in the Mechanism
Help, how do I get to the screw that you mention at 1: 22. I have removed lock and handle as well as 3 bolts but can't find the one you are talking about. I'm in Scotland so door is on the other side??
I've got a 2020 caddy. Mechanisms looks VERY SIMILAR if not identical. My problem. Is, the small part comes out okay, but the actual. Handle just wouldn't pull out. It slides very slightly forwards but just not enough to pull out 😩
Hi, I just bought a t5.1 which already has a plate. I suspect it’s been broken into in the past. I can’t open the door from the inside. Where the handle rod joins the mechanism, I’m missing the grey part (with the black bands on it) how easy is this to replace? Thanks
Is this right the Grey Aluminum part on the top. If so this is the main unit take the inside panel off remove the water catcher this is in-between the door caverty. If watch my video video it should help you just ask if you need help
@@gadgetman12 Thanks for the reply. Its’s the part of the lock which gets turned when the van is broken into. As you showed in the video. A mechanic friend of mine checked and it was £240+vat for the entire new lock as they don’t sell bits individually. I did wonder if it’s worth leaving it, if someone attempts to break into it again there’s nothing there to turn. So could be safer?
Hi Neil How would you reattach the watercatcher to the inner door panel? Im replacing mine since one clip has broken and its become loose. There's also some tacky substance to seal it to the inner panel. What would you use to seal this? Where can I find a list or visual catalogue of Vw parts. I need a few bits and bobs like screws and door lock gaskets etc and they tend not to have VIN numbers on there due to their size. Thanks
I managed to put everything back together, however, the outside handle only operates the latch that holds the door open and the door can only be opened from the inside. Any advice? (can't find any solutions on the forums😔)
Thanks for getting back. Thank fully and by the grace of God, it suddenly started working once I'd shit and locked the door with the key! I thought I had waisted an entire day, then went to the shop at about 5pm, locked the car and did the shopping. When I came back and unlocked the car to put the shopping in the back, the door just opened! Magic.... or probably needed the central locking system to kick in. Any way. Thanks for your help - the video helped me put the spring etc back together and really saved the day! 🙌👌👏👏👍
Do you know the part number for the part thats closest as you look at it? It seems a new mechanism doesn't come with both parts, just the main part and cables etc, aaaaaahhhhhh 😭😂

If anyone else is needing the part number I believe its 7H0843653CN but an updated one ends in CD. This is for the left side (passenger).

I would use tigerseal you can get from car shop but take about 3 hour to start to set
We got all parts from vw I got the part numbers off the old parts
