I had a 78 b120 GX Plus for about a year in 1988. It was the same green and in rough shape from previous owners. I used i to drive to work in the Idaho desert and would get 50+ mph. It was a fun car to drive and it cruised at 70 mph nice and straight. It had a 5 speed manual with 1st gear located "in and down" with reverse "in and up" where 1st was on most normal transmissions. I remember accidently shifting to R at a stop lights a few times waiting to go. Such a fun car to wrap up the revs and shift.
30:22 Us big guys and small cars. amirite? Great channel, I like the relaxed no BS drama work and you got yourself a sub! Looking forward to the derby vid.
If he plans to derby it i will gladly trade him my 1975 B210 2 door sedan it already has all the glass/dash/interior out of it i was gonna save it but hey this one was a local to me one owner car.....and it was originally sold at a dealer I once worked for so it would actually have some emotional connection to me. My mom had one just like this but a darker green. Mine is a clean title too
Sorry for late reply, but No derby for this one. It was too neat to wreck. A viewer from the midwest contacted me and ended up buying it, so itll be getting all fixed up and driven again
How I wish I still had my ‘77 B210 hatchback, brown exterior, brown carpet and beige seats… California emissions, so I got 45-50 mpg. I sold it in @ 1982 as I moved close to downtown Minneapolis in 1981, and it was mostly just parked at the curb. Loved the lines and ‘those taillights’!
Japanese engineering at it's best! 40+ MPG all day long! I had a 74 4 door B210 in High School, awesome on gas, back in 78-79 when gas went from 48 cents to over $1 a gallon. I worked at a full service gas station making $1 an hour as well. Good old days, reclining seats and drive in movies, many babies were made that way!🤣🤣🤣
@@rustsweatgears4596 Yeah, but minimum wage was like $1.35 back then too! Would you gladly take that? I was making $1 an hour at the gas station, in a small town that hadn't heard of the minimum wage! So for me gas is far cheaper today, as I had to work 1 hour to buy a gallon.
👍👌👏 Simply fantastic! This was definitely one of the easiest first starts I have ever watched. Seems that it really wants to live. I love nearly everything that is green. I absolutely like this car (and not only because it's green). On our former family property once was a Datsun/Nissan dealer and shop. Therefore I know pretty well, how good the engines, gearboxes respectively drive trains had been. Rust was the worst enemy of course. This car wants to live and it is definitely a good daily driver, even nowadays. Not much fuel consumption and very manageable technology. Tires are cheap too. I really hope, that there will be a second part or even a series about this cute car. Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and health.
Those were pretty popular back then. You saw a lot of those, Corollas and VW Rabbits. There was a package on the B210 called the "Honey Bee" which i think was an attempt to add interest to the most stripped-down, economical B210.
Glad to see it running and driving. I love the Datsun B210's. I've had five of them. They are great little cars and reliable. The only complaint I have with them if the driveshaft berrin goes out you have to replace the driveshaft. That blue light on the dash is a rear window defogger. I had a friend that special ordered hers back in 1978. It was a 1978 GX model with automatic. It was the light rust color with light brown vinyl interior. It had the same stripes as the one you have but they were a different color than yours. You are very lucky to find that car. Take care of it and it will take care of you. Happy motoring in it.
A B210 is magic. Learn so much on that simple car. A 14 engine can double horsepower with a good but radical cam and cars but would need compression using flat top pistons and shaved heads to about 10.1 compression . More bettet😆 Have fun. Wiki Datsun 1200. Same family. And 80 or so 310 had IC distributor. 2 wires . One to coil jeg the other to ignition plus
80hp actually is a powerhouse for its era. Its only a 1.4L OHV motor. For comparison my daily is a 2012 Honda Fit with a 1.5L VTEC SOHC MPFI engine and it only makes about 40hp more than this A14 engine, which is also tuned for torque. The B11 Sentra that replaced this car in 1983 had a 1.6l SOHC engine that could only manage 69hp!
I learned to drive in that very same model back in 1978, then when I came to the states, I bought one in good shape in the 1980s, I should had kept it, those things run forever and they are easy to work on and repair.
I'm sure a lot of people know Nissan used the name Datsun to sound more American to new buyers here. In the 1980s I managed a tiny car rental agency in Maui and I maintained 12 of these cars among other cars. They were pretty gutless but very reliable
These Datsuns are sweet. So easy to work on. I got a 79 210 B310 and it didn’t run when I got it either. When I did get it running it just purred lol. Did an auto to manual swap as well
My neighbors had one just like it, BRIGHT metallic green with tan interior (and carpet); they must've liked it because after having a baby they replaced it with an '81 Datsun 210 SL wagon (that one was white with blue interior).
Wow, sold at Key Pontiac-Datsun-Yamaha-SkiDoo (later on Key Pontiac- Nissan) on Rt 512 (owned by the Gulick family). They had that Key logo all the way up till the dealership closed. My father was a service adviser for over 20 years there and my first "real job was there as a quicklube tech and this car kinda stirs the feels a bit knowing my dad may have even scheduled service on it back when. Key is now gone, Its now one of the star auto malls Please Let me know if you want to let it go, i will be interested. or if you want parts i have lots. I am glad you dont wanna wreck it if you want one to wreck ill trade you my 1975 2 door Sedan B210. I have it all stripped down was planning on rebuilding it. I fit in these just fine :) Im in Allentown
@@rustsweatgears4596 Would you still be interested in mine? Its got a clean title and is registered antique. I have it stripped to a shell but have everything yet except for the motor and trans.
I have one but dont use it all the time. Sometimes i forget that i even have it. Some vehicles its more of a hassle to hook it up than just using the key, especially if you have to hook it up from underneath.
Another from no nonsense know how… this was a pretty cool deal. Can you retitle it as a driver now or how does that work… I know PA can be a TOTAL PITA about this stuff
It was an R title when i found it, it supposed to be in alot worse condition that it was, i did the title before even seeing the car, so i just made it salvage to keep the cost down. I regret doing that now. Looking into getting back to R title, and considering antique registration as it then wont need annual inspection.
My reverse and first gear went out on my b210 and I drove it a year before I found a replacement tranny in a salvage yard that I paid for with some VHS adult movies.
Those are AWESOME cars!! Rear Wheel drive and light as a feather!!
Its a fun little ride for sure!
LUV LUV LUV SUPER NICE C AR HAD SAME THING IN 1986 THEY RUN REALLY GOOD & LAST FOREVER
It was a fun little ride!
This thing is awesome we love these old Toyotas and Hondas from the '80s!
They were all very well built and simple then!

I knew she'd go! Datsuns always go. My mother had an '81. When it acted up, she'd smack it with a hammer and it would go. Wicked little car.
sometimes all it takes is a hammer!
Glad you got it running & driving. I'm still searching for a B210 myself. Thanks for posting

Yea im sure they can be little powerhouses!
80 hp is actually perfect for most new drivers. My first car actually was a 73 gran torino fastback.

I agree. My first car was a 1982 Diesel Chevette. 80hp. Couldn’t pass anything but a fuel station.
@@jeep2nv92 the more I drive, the more I think that half the drivers should be limited to 80 horsepower.
They were great little rides for their time!
Ill agree to that lol
This was my first car and although I tried, I could not kill it. It’d be great to see a full restoration.
Theyre tough little cruisers! Car went out to the midwest shortly after the video. Last i knew it was getting re done
I learned to drive in that very same model back in 1978, then when I came to the states, I bought one in good shape in the 1980s, I should had kept it, those things run forever and they are easy to work on and repair.
They are very simple! And scoot around pretty well for such a small engine
Owned a B210 fastback like this yrs ago. Good little car.
Yea semms like they were very reliable!
Cheap bushings will fix the shifter flop
Good runners drove one to work for years will run at high RPM dependably it was also green those hub caps used to have black inlay
I'm sure a lot of people know Nissan used the name Datsun to sound more American to new buyers here.

My dad has the sedan nonhatchback 78 b210. I'm planning on restoring it. (Sat since 2000~)
Have fun with it! Theyre neat little cars!
They had 6 round tail lights here in my country they were called datsun 140Z/ 160Z/180Z coupe
My neighbors had one just like it, BRIGHT metallic green with tan interior (and carpet); they must've liked it because after having a baby they replaced it with an '81 Datsun 210 SL wagon (that one was white with blue interior).
They were fun cars!
Id love to see this restored. So hard to find these anymore.
Was a cool little ride! New owner said itll get all gone over
Hello from the no nonsense know how page. I saw that he gave you a shout out... Thought I'd come check out your page.
Welcome!
I want to buy that car from you. I had a 78 B210 GX in dark blue. Just loved that car.
A viewer actually did buy it from me a little while back, car is now being fixed up and already back on the road.
I miss my 77 hatch I’d love another
Theyre fun little cruisers!

The GX have a high competition head. You need the 63A dogleg and you'd have a ripper
Great info! thanks!
Why don’t all of the mechanics on TH-cam have remote starter switches, buy one or make one

Funny my Datsun B210 is a 5speed manual and has a buzzing sound when you put it in reverse. I didnt hear urs buzzing when in reverse
My reverse and first gear went out on my b210 and I drove it a year before I found a replacement tranny in a salvage yard that I paid for with some VHS adult movies.
Yea seems like there were different versions
Yeah, best bet is to disconnect the fuel line & let the pump push out all the old crap into a jug (and not your carb).
Yea it was a little nasty for a bit, but it cleared itself out well
The peacock on fuel line looked closed
I would daily this car!
I actually just sold it to a veiwer from Indiana.
No AC would murder my fat ass now adays.
I wonder if that isn't the engine that is a popular replacement for the Bug EyE Sprite and MG Midgets? of the 60's
I honestly couldnt say. Not familiar with these datsuns at all, but it was a cool little ride!
Yep. Based on Austin A engine used by Nissan or Prince in the 60s under license. Nissan version totally superior. Forged crank and Rods 5 main caps.
I would like to have that car as a winter beater.
It would probably do well in snow!
I'd rather have the Datsun vs a Torino anyways
Are you ready to sell? If you are what do you got to have for it.
Id consider selling, not sure what the value would be, but im open to offers
I will buy it if you want to sell it!!
Sorry but it sold several months ago. Thanks though!
