I know I'm late to this video but I was in a guild once with IronNugget and I can testify for this entire video LOL. He actually single-handedly carried me through my first void complete with the use of that tome, I even made a meme about it! Good times, this was months ago in Breasts though haha. I'm childtouch (now dumbtouch, stupid name restrictions :c) if Nugget ever sees this comment! :D
Those moments when I see someone at low health or blinking red and I heal them are why I play priest, to heal people I crafted a fungal tome and a lab robe some time ago and I'm using them on my priest along with an autarch amulet I learned a lot from this video and will be using the fungal tome more often, thank you for making it
At first, I didn't like the Vital Combat update for the re-work of Priest. The nerf to DPS boosting buffs, complete destruction of priest as a team-player along with other balance changes really made me not like the update. ...But this build right here is a step in the right direction. If we can get an update where UT items mean more than a tradeoff, and help create a build that's more effective for your TEAM rather than you, then we might just see the best future for RotMG. I can't wait for the day when RL's will call for specific builds rather than a few items that pertain to that dungeon, and the day when the best in slot is something other than DPS/Survival.
As a 10 year long priest main I find it baffling that people didn't jump on this immediately. As soon as I saw the reworked Mad Lab robe on Testing I knew. I knew I'd be maining it. Not only is it excellent for constant mushrooms but it's godsend when you need some extra DPS paired with Scripture.
my problem with the fungal tome is, that it requires you to focus on your tome placements, while with T7 you just have to press 'space bar' and everyone is happy and you can focus hitting all lumi shots
It really comes down to preference at the end of the day! If you’re uncomfortable with using your abilities then a conventional time would be suggested :D
I think that's what afro is trying to show. That yeah, a standard priest can just use a t7 and do an ok job healing, but the skill ceiling for a priest looking to perfect their support game is actually much higher than most people might think.
I think the point of the vid is to show that even though fungal is already known to be very good, there is still a lot of room for the priest meta to grow, with players like IronNugget pushing the boundaries of what is possible.
@sc0rch I was talking about the strategies they use, not their sets. I've personally never seen void spaghetti tanked with fungal, and with some coordination there is probably a lot more ways to maximize dps with fungal.
@@corykurkowski5939 that will never happen though. In public raids, people don't put enough trust in Priests to go extremely deep, and even if the RL tells them to, they just won't listen. In actual WR runs, Priest won't be picked because of HP scaling. Ironugget is an exception because the people in that group can trust him to heal really well, but even then, this set only shines in say voids where you having the ability to spam more tomes is much more noticeable, in other dungeons such as O3, the skill cap has really already been reached? If that makes any sense..

The intent of the Fungal Tome is to increase the amount of time other DPS classes can remain in combat for. In void for example. You can easily have a group of 15 4/4 players but there is still a big risk in full rotating. Fungal Tome completely nullifies this risk and allows the other classes to have way less downtime for regeneration purposes. And regarding it being underrated. Due to the release of Scripture, many priests main that, which isn’t an issue at all as you can see Trench also uses it. Scripture is a great item but due to the nature of the current meta people have kinda thrown fungal tome under the rug. Also you need to acknowledge how much 360 actually is for a heal. If you’re playing the bog standard wizard set. That’s almost half your entire health pool from one 60 mana cast, let that sink in lol. My point is that it completely removes risk if the priest player is competent. Sorry for the rant I just want to get my point across that taking one DPS sacrifice is great if it boosts the other 13.

I would say its far from underrated, it is pretty much the only priest required item for any high level discord run

Cory Kurkowski there isn’t a lot of room to grow.. this is just utilising the reworked mlab robe instead of using a dps orientated robe...
