🤣🤣 My korean ex mother in law was 90 and could beat me walking up the hills in Seoul. She walked those streets several times a day. She is in great shape! Many old koreans are in AWESOME shape!
My Korean parents used to be part of a hiking group of 20 or so seniors that went on a 4 hour hike once per week. They all spent the whole week eagerly awaiting the next hike. 😂
How is it that you two always managed to find the most photogenic cafe ever in Seoul 🤯, and you always up the ante from video to video! 🤯🤯✨✨ Man, I hope the cafe is still there by the time I manage to visit Seoul 🥲, the city panorama from that cafe is simply too gorgeous! ✨✨✨
Just happened to find it when researching the area on Kakaomaps ☺️ It was such an incredible view from up there, and the owner was really kind as well~
Oh thank you for visiting the old neighborhoods!!! There’s so much character and charm in areas like that. They need to be saved. Thanks for sharing this experience and I look forward to more videos about older neighborhoods AND countryside homesteading!👍🏻😄
The location you went to with the high views is very charming and has a unique aesthetic. I do hope that it stays untouched for a long time. That hike up the stairs to the cafe is worth it for the incredible views.

That neighboorhood looks beautiful. You are right, this is the kind of Seoul I would like to see when traveling there.. the little streets and hidden shops have so much charm and character! In Europe you find this a lot in the old parts of town, tiny streets with cobblestone and small cafes. I love these kinds of places!
I love how Seoul can be so different, from small quaint neighborhoods to super metropolis. You can get a little bit of something. I hope that neighborhood never changes 🥹

Dudeeee I have a gen Z co worker, and she didn't know what a rotary phone was haha. I remember spinning those things as a kid to call my friends. I guess we're old lol.
Omg noooo, we could never 😂 Admire you for going through with it, though! Omg that is WILD! Have these kids never seen them in movies before, at least?? 😮💨
This reminded me of IU's character in "My Mister" who lived at the top of a very long and tall, steep set of stairs that she had to climb every day and night. It made me exhausted just watching her climb them so often lol. That cafe's views were crazy awesome! I hope some of those older unique neighborhoods there can last, too.
I love when you guys go in tour other neighborhood, especially place one or neighborhoods with great café or park or view as in the case of today. The way that you guys film go and the surrounding areas in the countryside make me want to visit even more. And it seems like even though you all have“taken us to so many places” there seem to be an endless number of places remaining that you all have yet to take us. And I’m definitely here for the ride. Thank you for sharing.
I love when you share the older neighborhoods. Those stairs would kill me though. The views at the top were stunning. Thank you for sharing this with us. All the plants on the streets in Korea are inspiring and bring such a peace to the place. Ordering the invisible tripod !
The stairs were intense, but well worth the view and experiencing this beautiful neighborhood 🌞 Ohh, the invisible tripod is such a handy little gadget!
I really really hope they save these neighborhoods they're the most charming parts of Seoul! Soon I'll be visiting Seoul and high on my list are these kind of neighborhoods so I'm really happy you guys made a video about another one of these areas! It's hard to find information about where to go online for these places, but vlogs are the beeeeest!!

I definitely remembered the steep slopes when I went for the Changsin donut lol. I didn't explore the neighbourhood but I will in my next trip. Thanks for introducing Changsin dong ^^ I am glad and so surprised that our apartments & trees left a good impression for you. Cos I am from Singapore ^^
When I think of those high rise buildings I think of 1) how unbearably hot they must be in summertime. 2) how inconvenient they must be if an elevator breaks or there is a fire alarm.
My wife and I love you videos! We also prefer the charm of visiting older neighborhoods. We will be coming to Korea in June and staying for 2 months! We are staying in near Banghak Station in the Northern part of Seoul. Hoping it will be a little more laid back and quieter than the central area:) We are saving so many of your videos to help us plan out fun places to visit while we are there!
Oh, I happened to go to the Banghak station area for the first time a month ago. I went to visit the old school cafe BONS which a fellow WordPress blogger recommended. Nearby you'll find the cool Dokkaebi (Goblin) Market. And near the station you'll definitely encounter the building with the huge egg built in. If you go a few stations north, you have easy access to Dobong Mountain trails, and a friend of mine recommended Madangbawi restaurant (not in Google Maps; address is 411-1 Dobong-dong) right at the beginning. Enjoy your stay!
I'm watching Nicki Positano videos, they live in Positano, Italy and it's 500 steps from their house to the main street. I can't imagine, i go out from home once in a month 🤣
9:50 Kyuho said it! I was there for a very short while and all I saw were high rises. We love to see neighborhoods like this one in the vlog. Have you guys thought of doing walking and eating tours? I would LOVE to join you in some of those when I visit Seoul next. Thanks for the MOFT drop. Would love to know what brand the mike is. TIA
I saw the blue zone - documentary as well. So interesting. Those stairs though remind me of Coimbra, Portugal. It's a city where I spent a few months as an Erasmus program student and - oh my. Stairs and steep hills just like in this vlog. A daily cardio and leg workout. 😀
What a gorgeous clear day you had! I hope more people visit these neighbourhoods. You get a workout before going to the cafe with stunning views. lol. BTW, where is your leather jacket from? That's the exact style I've been looking for. Thanks for another wonderful video.😻
Wow! The view from the cafe is stunning. The climb up looked like hard work 😆😆 but at least the reward is worth it! Thank you for such a gorgeous video guys 🥰
wow guys, you always present your home city from such interesting angles. Soul seems to have so many faces. The conrete jungle, the lights, teh parks, the mountains surrounding it, these stunning vistas, it just seems to be such melting pot of so many elements . You should charge people for these unique tours of Soul. You are great explorers. Agree whth your view on the concrete vs the traditional areas.
I think Hong Kong is another city that is beautiful with concrete jungle. If you’ve never been you should go visit. I do find most residential high rises in Korea look the same but I also find it interesting when it’s mixed with Korean traditional houses and architectures with lots of history, it’s pretty unique to me. I was born in Hong Kong but migrated to Toronto when I was a kid. Ive also travelled to many countries and South Korea is definitely one of my faves.
Hi~good afternoon ^^ So.. I recommend you the 성북동 and 한양도성길 ^^* Starting point is 한성대입구 subway station ( number 4 line 6 exit ) from there you go to the 성북역사문화공원 by bus or on foot.that is a starting point for 한양도성길, from there you can go to the beautiful 북악팔각정 house on the skyway. Prepare water, sports shoes~ good luck~!
I feel like I’ve seen this area in many movies and tv shows. I’m sure this location was used in Secretly Greatly. And that lunch you guys had looked absolutely fantastic. Those are the biggest Mandu dumplings I’ve ever seen.
Do they get food delivery at the Changsin-dong Area? Seems to be pretty difficult but the korean delivery services are known as one of the best and fastest worldwide.😊
Love your video’s beautiful views of Seoul ! Have a question for you ? Why you don’t walk side by side when filming you show either you up front then Kyuho walking up front alone never side by side holding hands ! Just wondering ?
Because one of us has to film 😅 We can’t film walking side by side holding hands, because whoever is holding the tripod/selfie stick while we’re walking and filming needs to use both hands in order to keep the shot stable.
Omg you literally came to my neighbourhood😂 I actually live across 창신역 so I saw my house like 20 times in the video😅 I also meant to go to that cafe because I can see it from my home and was always interested in the views. Now I gotta go when the weather is nice. Thanks for the preview☺️
These hill top residentials are built during the height of Seoul's development days since 1960s to 1980s. They're old and aged, not built for quality and safety, that's why Seoul government decided to remove them or rebuild them to a new standard. This goes same for Busan as well, this all happened due to 1950 Korean War - there was no city plan at the time, people just moved into city and start living, and city government struggled to find the areas for more residential, and now population is in decline and ageing as well as more & more old buildings are hard to maintain (also expensive), it's better them to go as there will be no one living in these old residential zones in next two decades.
Just from curiosity, quickly searched Korean real estate to rent property as that seems most encouraged, rent with 99 yr lease. One site had deposit like what think should be house cost...plus monthly rent. So that reminds me of USA today, doubled housing cost since 1980s to "highlight" salary of 2 working couples. I like a Canadian company to help ease building cost by reducing wood needed. Called hempblocks & doubles for wall & insulation. France also big into hempcrete. That fiber has been used for clothing since 4 ever, oldest textile found was hemp. So like flax linen has health benefits, naturally antibacterial, wicks away sweat breatheable. Like idea of letting walls breathe out humidity, less termite problem, & can really work out most stable foundation through researching. Think lime mortar seems to be really good for cellars that tends to be overlooked for modern cement. Kyuho's dad might have good engineering ideas. You two should build house on leased land or Kyuho's grandfather's land. 🍒
Love these neighborhood visits - thanks for all the hard work you put in on them (and the stairs!)!! ♡ ♡ So glad you had clear air quality for the day~ But also I’m collecting restaurant recommendations until my Naver map is bursting… 😂🙏 Those 왕만두 looked fantastic! P.S. Thank you for the cat cameos too! Always a welcome addition…
Lovely neighborhood but my knees hurt just watching you guys go up and down the narrow streets. If you guys were to retire in Korea, I wonder where it would be and why....
Luckily we’re used to walking up a lot of stairs in the subway stations here, but that day was quite a bit more challenging than usual 😅 And we’re not sure! Neighborhoods here can change so rapidly, so it’s hard to say~
Nice and clear day! Almost every time we tried to get higher to get some nice views, air quality was junk. One time, we could barely see the N Seoul Tower from the bottom of the hill. Bummer, since we don't get to go to Seoul that often. Thanks for sharing your experience :)
@@2hearts1seoul Good idea~ We went to Seoul for N Seoul tower (and couple other places) and once we got there, we chose not to go up the observation deck. 미세먼지 멈춰~ Keep up the great work :)
Changsin-dong is a unique neighborhood. Old villas and small factories are gathered in a high area past the high-rise building area of Jongno. Originally, there was a redevelopment plan from the early 21st century, but the former mayor of Seoul did not redevelopment it. And this plan honestly failed. To reorganize a very old neighborhood, full-scale redevelopment is essential. The roads are narrow, the houses are old, and the area needs to be reorganized. To be honest, the perspective of people living in these places is different from the romantic views of outsiders. Except for the elderly, most of them want redevelopment.
@@2hearts1seoul If you search the article, you will find the answer. The former mayor's urban regeneration project did not solve the problem at all. Even if a fire breaks out here, it is difficult for fire trucks to enter. What does it mean to create murals and a community culture center in such a place and talk about urban regeneration? That's not the romantic old town of Paris. I'm sorry but...
Redevelopment as in ‘raze it all to the ground and replace everything with high rises? Or redevelopment combined with measures to preserve the unique history and characteristics of local neighborhoods such as this one? For example, height restrictions for new buildings in residential areas.
@@2hearts1seoul Of course, Seoul's typical high-rise apartments may not be the answer. But the current situation is not the answer either. When you look at the redevelopment of Seoul's sloping neighborhoods, it wasn't just apartment complexes. Look at the Yongsan area, which is currently being redeveloped. Some kind of plan is needed to organize the this area properly. Of course, Yongsan had as many restrictions as Jongno.

I live in Brazil, and I get the argument, especially the private parking space and being more safe but the dowside is the city becoming ugly as fuck and losing its charm.
Genetics-I’ve always been long and lanky. I actually can’t eat a huge meal in one sitting because I get indigestion easily 🙃 so I have to eat smaller portions often throughout the day.

Village in Ilsan Goyang
Love these neighborhood visits - thanks for all the hard work you put in on them (and the stairs!)!! ♡ ♡ So glad you had clear air quality for the day~ But also I’m collecting restaurant recommendations until my Naver map is bursting… 😂🙏 Those 왕만두 looked fantastic!
P.S. Thank you for the cat cameos too! Always a welcome addition…
Our thighs were feeling a little tender the next day, but it was so worth it! 😎
What is the address for Cafe Nakta in Hangul? I keep finding a different one when I search in Naver maps. 🙏
I think it is 종로구 낙산5길 51
I found it writting the name of the cafe on maps -
Amazing.. beautiful~
More reasons for me to visit korea asap
This place is a must-see ☺️
Lovely neighborhood but my knees hurt just watching you guys go up and down the narrow streets. If you guys were to retire in Korea, I wonder where it would be and why....
Luckily we’re used to walking up a lot of stairs in the subway stations here, but that day was quite a bit more challenging than usual 😅 And we’re not sure! Neighborhoods here can change so rapidly, so it’s hard to say~
and HongKong. you guys should go HK, most beautiful concrete jungle that puts singapore to shame.
Nice and clear day! Almost every time we tried to get higher to get some nice views, air quality was junk. One time, we could barely see the N Seoul Tower from the bottom of the hill. Bummer, since we don't get to go to Seoul that often. Thanks for sharing your experience :)
We feel you! 🥲 We waited a while for a clear, sunny day to film this video! 🌞
What ‘type’ of redevelopment is the real question~
Absolutely~ balance is definitely essential.
I live in Brazil, and I get the argument, especially the private parking space and being more safe but the dowside is the city becoming ugly as fuck and losing its charm.

@@leofariasrj-dev Just bring the money and live in a strong apartment complex in Seoul for more than a year
How come you eat so much yet keep on being so slim? What's your secret, Sarah?
Genetics-I’ve always been long and lanky. I actually can’t eat a huge meal in one sitting because I get indigestion easily 🙃 so I have to eat smaller portions often throughout the day.
What about a high rise with a nice yard inside the unit? lol. One can only dream. I mean people put cars inside their units, why not a lawn?
Don’t want to live in a building with so many people, haha 🫢
Correct~
great advantures ,would you ever move to the county or are you a city people.🏡🏢🏠🏢🐱🐱🐱🌹🌻🌼🪴🍀
We’re definitely city people, but we love visiting the country 🏙️🌿
