You carry all your weight- Tightly stretched across your face Like evidence or proof that everything aged you I measured steady breaths (afraid of truth, or of being rebuked) "what horrible things cling to you?" I did not expect to get an answer at all Or for your to let your guard down But either a ghost or a sigh escaped you Your color fled, though your resistance would not be moved You said, "when you have given so much, so little remains Like a wound that will never heal, all that's left is to wait"
this song makes me sad sometimes :) this is the same thing when i am visiting a country, i am so happy and i enjoy the things of this country i see, i enjoy the culture of this country that i discove and after i come back in my origin country with a certain nostalgia and i am sad

Those are the lyrics well looking at them really hits me harder than just hearing that. Especially that "evidence of proof that everything aged you." Well the whole song really.
it's so beautifully and perfectly written, there's a sense of grace that hangs off of each lyric and that's some good songwriting right there. but it's not so much emotion that they're trying too hard, it's just pure.
It's just such a good song, and extremely relatable. I was totally blown away when I first heard it and I still am every time tbh, it's like every time I listen to it I'm listening to it for the first time.
Empire Empire put out some absolutely awesome EPs. I believe their new LP is going to be out early next year, but finding these EPs this year was a nice treat while waiting for the big new album heh
It absolutely is a reference to that. Many of E!E!'s song titles are references. Everything Familiar Has Disappeared! The World Looks Brand-new is a reference to Calvin and Hobbes fyi

so wait is the title an actual reference to that one episode of "How I met your..." where two of the main characters break up?
