  • We go on a mad rush to south west wales to look for some of the rare visitors, one having never been seen in the united kingdom before!
On this trip we have some success but also significant disappointment.
    join us on this adventure.

Thnx for putting it up anyway! Birding can be very hard. We had a blackpoll warbler in the Netherlands three years back. We were running around for five hours until I saw it for a second. Wasn't filming back then, but filming warblers can be very hard indeed. Loved the footage of the Canada warbler twitch. Although the experience must have been very bad, for me it is nice to see how things were going there. From the Netherlands I have been watching all the alerts of mega rare warblers in that were found in the UK. And on top of that Belgium had a Black and White warbler which made me very jaleous. Hope we will get a yank here this fall in the Netherlands. Last year we had two: a Bobolink which was misidentified as a weaver species and was gone when people realised the mistake. We als had a yellow billed cuckoo, but it drowned within an hour of the find so barely anybody could twitch it.

I love following your videos despite the lack of bird videos och pictures. I just like seeing what rare ones you get in UK. And because i live in Sweden, maybe, just maybe I will learn something that can be useful if I am lucky to find a mega myself. Like Canada warbler, did not even know it existed. Or Magnolia warbler. Great to learn they CAN show up in Europe and how they look. I know all to well the struggles of 4-5 hour trips just to miss the bird, must feel even worse when you have a youtube channel like this. But I just wanted to encourage you to upload from your trips, even without seeing anything. I like to watch it anyway =)

'Mega' nolia warbler!! Nice one! Glad you put the video out as it is indeed 'real birding' as you say! I also like the 'Where we going?' links, a diagnostic part of your videos. I don't like the twitches where people 'stake their claim' and don't move. The same has happened in my local hides, people take root and spread out, talk loudly occasionally bawl down their phones. I don't mean to sound like a grumpy old man, just an observant one.

Yeah, thanks very much for the video - and well done on the Magnolia Warbler! Even though it was disappointing it is the reality, so I appreciate you not presenting some fake airbrushed version of your adventures. All the best!

Worth putting the video out for sure, but I sometimes have the same thoughts. Like you say... it's the reality sometimes. Especially when you're chasing. Congrats on the Magnolia Warbler, epic find.
Would Wheatears still be around in 3 weeks when I'm over? I've never seen one, but it's a gorgeous bird if you think we could find one! See ya soon!
