      This channel and DJ Ware, Learning Linux, Luke Smith, The Linux Cast, Joe Collins and some others are good for learning. I especially appreciate the professional and adult approach of this channel and DJ Ware.

    I learnt to install arch from this channel.
    Now I can install arch with gui without looking to wiki/videos or any other resource.
    Thanks for all nice and straight forward info and guide.
    And have been using arch now for more than a year.

    You have a great gift of teaching. If possible, do a detailed video on x-org and wayland and the related configurations. Recently I did arch install with gnome pipewire using your may video. But Gdm just refused to work correctly. I had to start the monitor attached to second graphics card everytime before login screen came up.

    You've just shown a benefit to "all-in-one" package managers with your example using flatpak (and I would assume snap as well) that I hadn't considered before! Before that example I looked at those as a promising idea that could cause more division among Linux desktop users, and ultimately just gave *another* package manager to keep up with. Thank you for that example!

    As usual, splendid content from ef-linux :D
    Actually, on kde, I prefer the qt5ct app. All you have to do is to install it, add the configuration line (QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME=qt5ct) to /etc/environment, configure the qt5ct and reboot once. You're good to go with unified themes between Qt and Gtk apps.

    • @eflinux
      @eflinux  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. I honestly prefer flatpaks for that, especially when removing apps.

    Hoi Ermanno
    Ich bin auch aus der Schweiz und bin mir nie sicher was für locales ich nutzen soll.
    Anzeigesprache möchte ich in englisch also hab ich bei KDE en_CH genommen. Doch jetzt bekomme ich immer perl warnings "please check your locale settings".
    Wie wähle ich am besten meine locales? Und was für ein Einfluss haben diese genau?

    • @eflinux
      @eflinux  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Das liegt daran, dass en_CH in der Datei locale.gen nicht vorhanden ist. Es ist eine spezielle Spracheinstellung nur für KDE. Du kannst in der Datei locale.gen überprüfen, welche Sprachen unkommentiert sind.

    Very useful, thank you. One thing that is missing in linux apps is the easy ability to theme any application, eg dark theme, or same style as WM. Info on flatpack and their GUI support very useful, thank you.

    Why not to use -Rns to remove all in one go instead of -R ?

    • @eflinux
      @eflinux  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use that, but sometimes it does not remove everything depending on what you have installed in the system. I’m these cases I prefer flatpaks.

    I develop some applications in Python. I used sometimes tkinter but most offently GTK+. For a curiosity item, I have followed a Qt lessons (on Udemy) but really, for me, GTK is the top level.
    So, I understand when you say that GTK applications are better integrated in Qt environnement like KDE, but as we say in french, "between the two tools, there is no photo; GTK is the best".
    The only problem for me is to find a efficient tutorial as Udemy know to produce, but they don't have this kind of course in their catalog. Any idea ?

    I don't like QT5 too much unnecessary dependencies and I find that navigating through the UI in QT apps is much slower than GTK on laptops.

    I don't know if Ermanno has used music composition software, these days Musescore is on par with Sibelius. There are differences, some negative and some positive but overall it is on par. A guy who is a GUI-designer, developer and musician had some constructive criticism on Musescore - though being positive overall - and he got hired to improve it. That is how you recognize quality and class. I used Musescore, in the old days I used another program (not Sibelius, Finale when it still was the nr 1 program for this). Musescore is one of the jewels of opensource-software.
