i am happy with the zeiss 2.8 is great and sharpness is stunning and if i like it warmer the raw pics can be set to my favorite colors

The 10-24 peak sharpness is beyond F4, between F5 and F9, and its optimal range is certainly not at 10 or 24 ends. It's pretty easy to tell that a big disadvantage of the 3rd party lenses is they have less saturation in pretty much every case I looked at, whether it's the blue, red, or greens.

I have a Sony A9 and A7r3 and have all Sony lenses apart from wide angle. Have a Zeiss 18mm f2.8. Love it. So sharp and minimal distortion.

Thanks. Maybe the ultimate Fuji should have been the 8-16? I have this’d lens plus the 16-55 and my recent acquisition the 70-300. On a recent trip to Australia on my X-Pro2 most of my shots were the 11-16. But overall my most used was my beloved Ricoh GRIII!

I wonder how the Viltrox 13/1.4 compares to the Zeiss.

I wondered that too Rafeek. I have done some reviews of Viltrox LED lights on the channel and so I reached out to them and asked if they would lend me a Viltrox lens for the test, but they said I didn’t have enough subscribers to merit them sending a lens 😔 Guess I need to be a bit bigger to play with the big boys, although Nikon have lent me cameras like the Z6ii and Zfc so I’m getting there! Thanks for watching and commenting, I really appreciate it 👏📷

I think you shoot JPEG and set the sharpness of 12mm higher than fuji 10-24. There is no way the raw file look that vibrant on fuji photos.

Hi, thanks for watching and for your comment. For clarity I can confirm that the cameras were set up identically, there wouldn’t be any point having the sharpness higher on either camera. They are both shooting jpeg with identical settings. 👍🏻📷😊

Zooms are for lazy people. You need to make the composition fit the lens, not change the focal length to compose

Now that’s an interesting topic for a video. That’s an interesting one. It works on the premise that people use longer lenses to get closer, but sometimes they choose a different lens for the perspective, to squeeze things together or pull them apart and the zoom simply means they don’t have to buy two lenses. I wonder how many people use the zoom for composition and not perspective? That’s a really interesting question, thank you, I’m going to feature that on a video. Cheers 👍🏻

I agree up to certain point.
Something I am always looking for is: perspective as one of the main elements and changing focal length will affect it.
But, on th other hand, I love hiking, and there’s lots of struggle on carrying too much glass on my back.
So, I usually get my two or three most loved primes and one zoom for those situations where I feel lazy on not willing to fly.
