I played hockey with edey as a kid. I have no doubt he’ll have a long career in the nba as long as is able to stay healthy. He is just a natural athlete and at 7’4 that is almost unheard of. Just a reminder he has been playing basketball for like 7 years when everyone else who got drafted have been playing for at least 10 if not 15. He still has so much room to grow.
Edey and Painter have mostly come out and said that Edey was “held back” in the sense Greg is implying. They said he’s had the ability to shoot but he scored at such an efficient rate down low in college that Purdue didn’t need him to shoot 3s.
Yea Paint has literally said that he told Edey that because he was so dominant down low, him shooting a 3 would be letting his defender off easy. He wanted him burying people down there.
@@bencook6585 exactly. Which was completely true in college. I think he will still be a very effective post scorer in the NBA but obviously adding a 3pt shot to his game in the NBA would be a major positive.
Purdue fans in the know have been saying Edey can shoot for over 2 years! Not a news flash, Edey can shoot but don't help your opponent. Everyone was trying to pull Edey out from the rim and him shooting 3's does just that. Edey is a monster down low owns the boards and that's where you want him, in college that is.
Considering how all the teams are going small and playing 4-out or 5-out, Edey is going to have a field day down low. Can’t wait to see him play Wemby to see if the skinny unicorn can do anything with someone his height and twice the strength.
If they stay healthy and Morant doesn’t get suspended again, Memphis is going to be a PROBLEM. Mavs fan here and I’d rather see Denver and OKC in the playoffs.
Purdue fan and I agree with the spin. I think painter valued the logic of an offensive rebound over edeys potential upside on the 3. A chess move that is uncommon to see today as a coach. Painter will hold people back for the betterment of the team. I don't think he is the only Purdue big who could shoot yet didn't.
Eddy is gone be Super Nice on Offense!!! The only Question is His Defense; Primarily, Pic & Roll where They attempt to get Him on a Super Fast/Shifty Guard or Forward.
Bball coaches did same at almost positions. Coaches did not risk shooting threes. Todays nba is less coaching and more green lighting many bad shooters in college and nba How many nba games do you see and think wow. Games over or my team is down 15-20 in 1st qtr or at half? The three can be fun but rarely does media talk about the risk to the game Very few players ate Curry or Ms Clark. Too many gunners coaches dont control so hats off to painter and Underwood for putting team first. Good coaches - more coaches need to tell some players to stop gunning threes.

I think he can hit some 3s! He shot 2 of em in college and made one of em! Lol technically he's a career 50% 3pt shooter lol
Chris Vernon is a tremendous interviewer. Been listening to him for dang near 20 years now.
