    So i have that motor in my Caprice ppv and I'm getting great info from this video. I have a btr Cam and headers, i just bought HP tuners and i was messing around and got tricked(not really) into having to buy the extra credit so I'm so good with that but I'm terrified of making changes yet till i have a better understanding! Not like the old days when u needed a flat head screwdriver and a distributor wrench

    21:03 the bolt size to plug it off is a M14x1.5 drain plug. I use one that had about an inch of threads.

    I'll tell you what ,I'm so glad I stumbled across your channel. New subscribe here. I recently called up a cam company going to buy one of their cams for a2005 6.0 Chevy dump truck. I told him there wasn't any Dynos. or tuners around my area , in Vermont. I was looking to install the cam for pulling loads up hills and stuff. They told me to stick with the stock cam.😢😢

      I will do a video on that but that will be once my platform is quite a bit bigger. Yes it take’s probably 10x less time for tuning when done my way versus the normal way for tuning VE.

    On a vehicle with DOD, let’s say a Caprice PPV, can I simply DISABLE the DOD for now, to hopefully prolong any lifter failure, until I can correctly DELETE it? Is it as simple as the one click disable step you show at 4:35, or is there more to it??
    Thanks!!

    • @Matt_Sanford
      @Matt_Sanford  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, it’s as simple as that. I would also pull the intake manifold and retorque valley plate bolts in order to keep oil from leaking internally. There is a 99.9% chance you have at least a handful of valley plate bolts that are finger tight at best.

    I don't see that you switch Maf only and tune it, then do the VE after disabling the MAF?

    Noticed you have the wideband post cat. I think it has about a second delay after going to WOT until all the oxygen is consumed and it reads accurately - do you agree with this or are you of a different understanding? Thank you - Toys.

    Wouldn't keeping the vvt part produce the most torque/hp threwout entire rpm range ? Or is it a matter of ability to control during tuning ? Into everything with a motor but experienced with import (honda) tuning 😊, id imagine cam manufacturers would think of this during development , as kseries have this ability as well as vtec which is like Clark kent/superman in factory configuration aftermarket cam is superman/Hulk but either stock or aftermarket camshaft both involve vvt and vtec tuning to get most possible at any given rpm from 2500rpm-8500+ rpm ? Either way that motors breathing abilities is gonna make good amount more Hp

    Another great vid. Just finished watching this one. Do you still do the separate high and low octane tables with the sbe daily driver/ mild combo boosted stuff, or is that asking for trouble since you don't have as much of a "tuning window" and try avoid knock at all cost.
    I wish some videos of these type were around years ago! Keep it up! Thanks again!

    • @Matt_Sanford
      @Matt_Sanford  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Matt quick question how good the DOD delete work if the truck is with the original lifters just disable with hp tuners
    Or I have to replace lifters and cam?

    • @dreece2000
      @dreece2000 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I know you didnt ask me but The cam designed for heavy lifters. I see a power gain by just putting a stock cam in. I’ve done a lot of them. Just for the mental insurance knowing the lifter is not gonna fail is worth it. Just change the cam and lifters and be done with it.

  • @mikec5971

    I’m confused, how do you get accurate data from the wideband when it’s installed after the cat?

    • @Matt_Sanford
      @Matt_Sanford  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The wideband is an oxygen sensor, not a fuel sensor. Although the converter can create a small amount of oxygen in the process of oxidizing HC and CO, the change on the wideband is minimal. Especially when we run the trucks at an AFR that is safe for component production.

    So on a reflash what timing table is immediately default towards?

    • @Matt_Sanford
      @Matt_Sanford  ปีที่แล้ว

      Traditionally they will default to low octane if the calibration has been read out but nothing written back in or changed. If you write a calibration they will typically start on high octane.

  • @aslacker
    @aslacker ปีที่แล้ว

    Were you making all your fueling changes in closed loop, or did you have the o2s disabled?

    • @Matt_Sanford
      @Matt_Sanford  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In this video I was in closed loop to simplify the adjustments and make it easier to comprehend. Normally I am in Open Loop in my videos and when I’m tuning for customers. I have videos both ways.
