  • A block of mass m1 = 3.70 kg on a frictionless plane inclined at angle θ = 30.0° is connected by a cord over a massless, frictionless pulley to a second block of mass m2 = 2.30 kg hanging vertically (see the figure). (a) What is the acceleration of the hanging block (choose the positive direction down)? (b) What is the tension in the cord?

Thank you so much!!!! Was having so much trouble understanding it using my professor’s method. This was so much more visual and easy.

Omg, THANK YOU. This was so much better than just seeing a picture of someone's answer. I am struggling and this helped.

Where's the video of number 51 problem? The question about figure 5-47? Do you have a solution for that problem?

what would the minimum force needed to accelerate the first block up the plane? could you explain

How can you assume that the smaller block accelerates in the negative direction?

If you set the movement of the larger block going down the ramp as positive, and the smaller block travelling upwards then you can.

Also, keep in mind this block is being pulled by gravity, which always accelerates downwards. The sign in front of this value will change depending on what positive direction you set for N (netforce)

So honestly, spending half of the video explaining what is a triangle and what are sine and cosine is a bit bad

No everyone is very comfortable with those concepts, worst case scenario you can skip forward but for someone who might need this part, they will end up feeling frustrated and lost

Vid over complicates it, go somewhere else for better info.
