    Material and labor might be high, but let's be honest, a majority of the cost is the name and the exclusivity of the product. They are only worth as much as people will pay. Unfortunately, people are willing to pay a hefty price for pretty basic shoes.

      definetly if i learned how to make shoes and i know already a bit about shoe making
      it would cost probably 200 in materials and would take around a week to create
      so the cost should be around like 700$ since bring brands have contracts to get cheap materials

    • @AndreMonz
      @AndreMonz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@GloriaTheAnimator Not even close. Look at Carmina Shoes. Thats is the sort of shoe that gives a great bang for the buck and I bet those have a higher degree of craftsmanship than Louboutin. You will not get fashion designs on Carmina and that might be a deal breaker for many costumers.

      "Pretty basic shoes" ..... Sir, you kill me. The outer lines of the shoes ALONE show beautiful appreciation of design and craftsmanship. Even something as small as fractions of an inch difference in shoe strap width change the quality of the composition.

      @raaid22 2 ปีที่แล้ว +42

      @@spacekoalalove they are pretty basic. Some designs are ornate but many are not and both are extremely expensive. You can go to a cobbler and have them make you custom shoes for cheaper than loubitons.

    After owning multiple original pairs I wanted to get for my 35th birthday a pair of so Kate. about 2 weeks later I came across a page about high end reps and decided to give it a try. Once came I compared it to my originals (in terms of quality, leather\feel etc), I understood one thing, There is no chance ANYONE will be able to spot it as a fake, Even the under sole engraving is identical. The build quality and finish put a lot of legitimate expensive brands to shame.

    If you want the same high-quality materials and craftsmanship, I highly recommend befriending near graduation/end of apprenticeship cobblers or fashion school students. I've gotten some of the best shoes and clothes I've ever owned at a fraction of the price of a coturier or atelier. They use the same materials and techniques, and I don't have to travel to Aspen or Europe to get the same experience lol. Students and fresh graduates are usually eager to start building their clientele, earning good money, and putting all of their knowledge to work. You won't be disappointed.

    My first time visiting Toronto, my girlfriend (now my wife) and I visited the Louboutin exhibit. I remember laying my eyes on the Rollerboy Spiked loafers, I fell in love with the shoe. It was unique and like nothing I've seen before. At the time, I was working at Dunkin Donuts so it was completely out of my price range. Since then, I've had a good career in IT and for my wedding day I knew exactly the shoe I wanted to wear that day and it was worth the $1000 price tag.

    Historical fact : Red High Heels were already a thing before Louboutin. It was a must for the noblemen in Europe around the 15th century(back when high heels was only for men, it was a masculine fashion piece). The glossy red-soled shoes showed they never worked because it was clean and it was red because they represent the blood of their enemy crushed in battle. Louis XIV was very fond of shoes with red heels. And no man could have a heel higher than the king. Bright red was also a rare color on clothes, so having red-heels meant a nobleman was very wealthy, powerful in war and never worked at all (so even more rich).

  • @Fronken89

    "What makes these shoes worth almost 800 dollars?" Short answer: They aren't worth 800 dollars. They cost 800. The shoes themselves arent worth anywhere near the pricetag, its the same as all fashion brands, you are paying for the brand, not the product itself.
    The only reason they sell is because of shallow and vain people who feel the need to spend such outrageous amounts of money simply to show them off. Such as Spencer Alben, who's entire reasoning for buying them amounts to "I wanted to show them off because people know they are expensive."

    When I was younger because my feet are child-sized I bought some custom made shoes in a classic pump with a moderate heel. I still have those shoes 20+ years later. They are my favourite pumps I own them in classic black. I've only had to take them in for repairs for a worn heel or worn sole a few times. At the time I paid 800 dollars for a pair of classic pumps that still fit as nicely as when I first got them. When I see designer shoes it makes me think of times I would have bought custom shoes for at least 500 bucks at the time and have only had to take them in a few times to fix the sole with 15 - 20+ years of owning them. I can understand paying a lot if there you are fetting high-quality shoes. It's totally worth paying the extra money on a classic style if they are comfortable and last a long time. I would gladly pay over a thousand dollars on a great pair of shoes or boots as long as they fit and last a long time.

      That actually makes sense. Higher quality at a high production is really expensive. So the product costs more. It's usually cheap items that are made using slave labor, harmful materials, unethical practices and such. However, there are many instances where you are literally just paying for a label and it tends to show in the quality (take the newer Louis Vuitton bags for instance, the quality has gone down a lot but prices remain the same due to the name). Christian Louboutin is very meticulous about his craftsmanship and views his shoes as pieces of art. But I also have to agree with another commenter, they hurt like crazy and it's NOT worth the money to kill your feet!
      EDIT: I'm hearing the quality has gone down on these shoes too!

Comparing to the first time I bought from there (I still have the items from 10 years ago) and compared to now the quality is half to 70% of what it used to be and cost 25-40% more excluding tax. Even styles now and days aren’t that great because it tends to be repetitive and nothing unique and new. I say, get things on sale/ clearance because they’re usually half or 25% of the price for half the quality. That’s when it might be worth it depending on how you view it.

I was in enough briefings with him to see that customers were there to hear _him and his vision_ and none cared for his car or shoes. Most were so awestruck by the time he was done talking that it didn’t matter. I realized then that prohibitively fancy label clothes and shoes are only for those who have nothing to bring to a conversion or ability to solve a problem. Only fools are swayed by fancy things.

    A red heeled shoe with a red sole and a gold buckle on the front has become a symbol of aristocratic status. At the court of Louis XIV, court etiquette did not allow any other footwear. The Sun King himself owned over 120 pairs of wedge shoes. Marie Antoinette later became famous at the French court as a big fan of shoes and dresses, on which she squandered money from the royal treasury. With the French Revolution of 1789, red aristocratic high heels fell into obscurity... so it was not an invention of Mr Christian... 😮
