When I say stop wasting money, I mean it! And leading by example, this video cost us next to nothing. Made by my talented office staff, 25c for the carrot.

Yea, unlike the main stream prostitutes that turn off comments and suppress our freedom of speach to avoid any form of discussion or criticism.

You're getting screwed on the rubbish collection changes. I currently pay $125 a year to a private company in Whangaparaoa for a weekly rubbish collection. Apparently when the council takes over I'll have to pay the same but the collection frequency will be fortnightly. I think you should just keep out of our rubbish collections since we have a private company doing a perfectly good job and it costs you nothing.

Could you stop putting speed bumps on every road? That might save a buck or two?

Councils love charging you rates to your lifestyle block in which the provide no actual service too. But don't worry they'll increase your rates to charge you the fix the pipes that's they didn't because somebody was sticking their hand in the pot. The worse form of government is a council they are the middle mangers of governments the only thing a council achieves is making your life worse and trying to convince you they are there to help

No, rates are done backwards. If any politician was serious about reducing the use of "our money" they would...
Set rates at a reasonable rate, then get govt funding, THEN prioritize infrastructure and other assets. Not the way rates are currently set...
The ltp rolls around, councils look at the cost get govt funding, then use rates to fill the gap. Arguing that if we don't there'll be a shortfall of service... well guess what? There is zero chance of rates ever going down. Ever. So. To stop making our lives worse, set rates at levels people can afford, then sort everything thing else out.

Brilliant vid! Live in Pt Chevalier where the AT traffic calming disaster inflicted on us. With no doubt cost blow outs as timeline seems to be dragging on. Idea has some merits too, but it is OTT. Also insult onto injury as buses also travel at 20km down the 30km streets with no one in them, further aggrevating locals. And then the real cherry on the cake has been the traffic cops with speed radars. It’s a real hearts and minds project this one…all love is not lost but the flame has dimmed.

Wayne, I didn’t vote for you. You really stuffed up when the flooding happened. But you’re doing a better job now. Keep learning from your mistakes and improving. Thank you for your work.

Well if you found $83million of savings, why wasn't this done before? A 6% rates rise is nothing to be proud of, if I was the Minister for local government I'd put a bill before the House to permanently prevent Councils' rate rises exceeding the rate of inflation. Stop treating ratepayers as a cash cow, learn to live within a budget through efficiency, deliver more to ratepayers for less money, get better at it every year and make every Council employee justify their salary. As for Auckland Transport, it needs to be abolished, I call it anti-transport, it puts every possible impediment in the way of the most efficient form of delivering people and their pets to where they need to go, being the private car.
